Poor racist fools. They couldn’t even have 24hrs to enjoy putting PBO “in his place”. He came out there all happy and ruined their lives.
I will always have a great love for this wonderful young man who did a great job as President Barack Obama’s speech writer. Jon has a great mind with the temperament as PBO has, and that is a great gift for sure. Jon also has a great respect for the man who holds the office of POTUS and will always be a great, sincere, and trusted friend of PBO. What a team, when these two came together. Two brilliant minds making great history and doing great things for this nation and the people of the world. Two beautiful men with Great cores. HZ
Hi everybody! I see you…again, NCLB!
Yes, VC!
“I’m going to squeeze every last bit of opportunity to make the world a better place over these last two years.” Oh WOW! Watch out all you bastards, when its done, EAT it!
Ok folks, as you may know, I have my own little corner of the Internet at http://www.novelsinprogress.com, which I’ve woefully neglected. Expect a reboot soon, with a brand new name and a new focus. Politics I’ll save for here; there it’ll be art, music, literature, and library stuff.

President Obama is optimistic and focused on using every second of the fourth quarter to make our nation stronger for the American people.
Those mofo’s didn’t even stand. The disrespect…
And in Cali news:
@JerryBrownGov:
California passed these two measures yesterday:
http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Calif-Voters-Pass-Fiscal-Propositions-1-and-2-281557631.html
“The governor, re-elected to a record fourth term Tuesday, campaigned heavily for Props 1 and 2 in the runup to the midterm. The measures faced little opposition — Prop 1, a water system bond, passed with 67 percent of the vote; Prop 2, which provides money for a “rainy day” fund, garnered 69 percent of the vote.”
And this is what happened…
California will always be a great state, there is a heart in California, along with very smart individuals. :-)
No can lead California like Jerry Brown. I will do everything in my power to never do what the other Blue states did and elect a Republican after we had a great Democrat lead us out of the desert of borrowing to give tax cuts to the wealthy. Good luck MD and MA.
Hi Jojo. How are you? Completely agree. As long I have breath in my body, no Republican Gov in CA! The “Governator” was quite enough. Also glad they they finally declared Alex Padilla (D) as our new Secretary of State. His Republican opponent was ahead last night and I was extremely concerned as CA doesn’t need a Republican heading up our election process!
Jojo, we are very blessed to have Jerry Brown as our governor again. I am very thankful for the percentages of Prop 1 and Prop 2. Cali., is an expensive place to live, but we have some great joys to enjoy while living in this beautiful state. HZ
(((HZ)))
Poor poor widdle Ed Henry, 6 yrs later, still acting like a douche because he’s clearly NEVER recovered from this earlier classic smackdown:
LOL! Thanks for this chuckle! I had forgotten this lovely moment where he once again put that idiot in his place.

As promised - Full Moon tomorrow, 6 November 2014. 14.26 Taurus with the opposition taking place at 5:23pmEST (2:23pmPST) no eclipse this time, but I have read this moon is called a Beaver Moon by Native Americans, time to get the house ready for winter!
Thanks MP. I need cleaned the house over the weekend, got the dirt out and now have to change the filters.
I forgot who suggested we send a note to POTUS this morning and a link to the Whitehouse communications page but thank you. As soon as I read your post I clicked the link and sent a quick note thanking PO for all the work he and his administration has done for what can seem to be an ungrateful nation. I let him know I loved him and am proud to have him as my President. I also let him know I have his back over the next two years as he does whatever he has to do. He had my complete support and the support of my family.
So… thanks to the person who recommended the note, it did help and I felt wonderful after I hit the submit button.
I did the same. Don’t remember who suggested it, but thanks.
I believe it was ThisMagicalEarth who suggested it. :) Great idea!

Kinda interesting that the Clintons’ haven’t showed their faces, nor have any of the usual suspects. Not only did President Obama show his face but once again he showed why he’s the capo di tutti capi.

Oh, me three nospin and Bobfr. Can you just see these clowns having to come up with some decent questions. I can see POB and VP Biden laughing until they are crying just saying this about these clowns. Love it. HZ
:-)
I mean the only thing Grimes had to do be the next Senator of Kentucky was to not be disrespectful to the President, and she couldn’t even do that.
I rather had Ashley Judd run against McTurtle, I mean McConnell. Let me remind Republicans of something, what goes around comes around. The Republicans filibuster at a record number, now let’s see the Dems use the filibuster the way the Republicans did.
” to not be disrespectful to the President” <— THIS right here.
And then Don she seemed to relish the disrespect as she ratcheted it up. She is too young to be so hateful. I sincerely hope she grows out of it.
It’s a “little” thing called character. She doesn’t have it. She didn’t deserve the win. (Neither did McConnell, but the Dems didn’t come out and vote).
Barack Obama: I don’t run from my record and I know how to win
{{Jojo}}
I have this thing at work where once in a great while I got sideways with my boss and he knows just what to do, he walks up to me and says “Don, lets hug.” and you know what, it works. The same thing happened today, I was all piss and vinegar because of the midterms, I was talking crazy talk. Low and behold President Obama gave his press conference and now I feel all better. I am rejuvenated and I am ready to support my President for the next two years.
Lot of respect for you, Don!! Well done.

Bob,

Thats from the guy who said just days ago that if GOPers regained the Upper Chamber, He, MitchM was going to have ACA repealed roots and branch……
POTUS will Never sign a bill like that.
Thanks, Nema.
Nena!
Um, what?
What about jive turkey?
Or as Richard Pryor said in that amazing SNL skit from the 70s: Dead Honky.
Misleading headline from CNN, as usual.
Lt. Col. S. Justin Platt, an Army spokesman, said the use of the word comes from an outdated section.
“The racial definitions in AR600-20 para. 6-2 are outdated, currently under review, and will be updated shortly,” he said. “The Army takes pride in sustaining a culture where all personnel are treated with dignity and respect and not discriminated against based on race, color, religion, gender and national origin.”
Not sure. Daily News seems to be quite clear.
They need to update their article since they posted it before they spoke to anyone.
Our mainstream media, folks. I only used to read the NYDN for the sports. GREAT sports page.
yea ok. good luck with that in 2014.
I wasn’t aware of that fact!!! What’s up with that?
Christopher Hayes @chrislhayes · 2m2 minutes ago
AR passed a min wage increase by 65-35 last night. Mark Pryor strategically skipped Sen min wage vote and lost by 17 pts.
PBO said in his news conference that all 5 states that had a minimum wage initiative on their ballots passed the measures:
Alaska
Arkansas
Illinois
Nebraska
South Dakota
But all apparently voted GOP. Makes no sense.
Especially in IL where the Gov elect dislikes the min wage….
Republicans will stand up for a lie, quicker then Democrats will stand for the truth. This President had a good record to run on, but Democrats decided to run away from it. Or were they running away from that black President in hopes of keeping those white Southerners.
Although, I and my family voted for Kay Hagen, it was with my nose pinched b/c of the disrespect she showed PBO…I know many who did not vote b/c of it….and you know, she deserved to lose….and I’m not sure that in the end losing the Senate might not be a blessing in disguise….They are not going to repeal “Obamacares”, not in the next two years, at least…..and nothing was going to be passed anyhow if we had controlled the Senate….so……I personally intend to get a bowl of popcorn, get a drink, prop my feet up, watch the show, and thank God I never have to hear “It’s OBAMA’S fault” again……and to answer your question, Yes, that is exactly what she and all the others did….and by doing that sealed my decision to become an Independent.
She was one of the Dems that ran away from President Obama?
yep she sure did
Of course, I would be against this, but a boy can dream…
Ooooh, I’d like to live in that ‘new’ land!
Whitley Streiber wrote a book back in the 80s called “War Day”, which posited a limited nuclear war between the US and USSR which obliterated the eastern US but left CA, WA, and OR unscathed. While still paying lip service to the idea of the US, California was for all intents and purposes an independent nation, with Washington and Oregon as satellite states. Of course, since this was in the 80s, he painted CA as an autocratic state which sealed its borders against Americans from the contaminated parts of the country. CA scared the hell out of me back then.
Green grass and blue skys.
“prosperous, sustainable, liberal” - three tightly correlated parameters, btw.
Works for me!
Speaking as an Oregonian I like that idea, but fear for the U.S. without the province of Pacifica. I should also add that it is the western populated zone of Oregon, Washington, and California that brings the sustainable prosperity and liberal thinking.
I might add, my 20 year employer when I retired in Portland, Oregon was Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare, a private non-profit mental heath agency.
BTW, TOD has had almost 60,000 hits in ~ 2 days ….
maybe some of those hits were from the folks who are not permitted to post on TOD and wanted to see the demise of the die hard Obamacrats. Sucks to be them to realize that yesterday only served to make us more determined to support POTUS. :-D
Roger that!! :D
Another uplifting moment.
I’m sure I’m not alone among those who refused to access any MSM (including tweets) this morning. Was not in the mood for insufferable self-congratulation and PBO bashing.
The TOD community provides updates on what’s going on, without the tiresome white dudebro elitism rampant in so many MSM tweets and articles.
am i the only one thinking pbo is upbeat and having a good time today because his long game is playing out just like he planned?
nope. I sensed he already knew what to expect. He hoped for something different but he knew of the possibility and had a plan over 18 months ago.
That man is brilliant at turning lemons into lemonade.
The idea that folks think that PBO didn’t game out all scenarios is indicative that after 6 years they still don’t know him. And it’s not like he’s mysterious; they’re just willfully blind.
well said LL.
Continually underestimating him because he’s Black and they refuse to believe that he’s fucking brilliant.
amen LL!
I think PBO, like most of TOD expected a Senate that looked much like Japa21’s prediction.
However, we all know that PBO *is* a chess player, in that he looks at all possible consequences of decisions made, whether by himself or by American voters.
According to @LATimes, two clues from today:
1) Comprehensive Immigration Reform:
PBO “portrayed executive action to defer the deportation of some number of immigrants here illegally as a way to goad Republicans in Congress to pass some legislation in response.” (i.e., ” force the Republicans in the House to approve the “comprehensive” bill passed last year by the Senate”)
2) AUMF
Asking Congress to act “would put Republicans on the spot. Some are eager exponents of the war against the Islamic State, but others may feel tugged at by a libertarian (if not isolationist) impulse to keep the U.S. out of foreign conflicts. A publc split between Republicans on that question might offer the president some small consolation for Tuesday’s election results.”
Obots will hate the tone of this article, but PBO has opened his bidding with McConnell and Boehner.
http://theobamadiary.com/2014/11/05/the-press-conference-a-tweet-or-two/#comment-1180362
See also the toon posted upthread (originally posted a couple of threads back by @MagicalEarth).
When stories started to leak last week that PBO and his inner circle were planning next steps for Repubs taking the Senate, people were saying he was giving up. But what I was thinking based on what I know of PBO is that of course he was planning for that, as he must have been planning for EVERY contingency. That’s how he operates: PREPARATION. So I think he had several plans laid out for how to proceed given any number of scenarios. He usually games out a variety of outcomes and does everything he can NOT to be caught unaware.
Remember this: No grass grows under President Obama’s feet.
Apparently Jay Carney knew the deal, and was right and I blew a gasket on TOD after he went on CNN with his “findings.”
Missouri Gay Marriage Ban Ruled Unconstitutional
Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster immediately appealed the ruling to the state Supreme Court, saying the constitutional challenge “must be presented to and resolved” at that level. But he said that his office wouldn’t seek a stay of the order, noting that the U.S. Supreme Court refused to grant stays after same-sex marriage decisions in Idaho and Alaska.
Hello every one at TOD. I stayed up last night lurking here until 1:30 and then was so consumed with disappointment for the greatest leader I have ever known that I hardly slept for the rest of the night. Consequently I was able to view the sunrise. There were some dark clouds, but they could not contain the intensity of that beautiful glow. Just imagine the eastern sky with a glorious sunrise overpowering ominous clouds. I immediately thought of President Obama and what he will face for the next two years: despicable opposition and obstruction. But then I understood that the power of his brilliance will always overcome these adversities. I began to feel better. And then I heard a bit of the press conference this afternoon and his voice was like balm; I suddenly felt reassured that all things work for good; he will triumph over his enemies.
He will continue to succeed because there are millions like me all over the world who uphold him and his family with our prayers every day. He will continue to succeed because there are avid supporters like TOD family whose unabashed loyalty, love, respect and admiration are manifested in so many extraordinary ways. He will continue to succeed because at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, he asked Almighty God to enable him to be just, and to always look out for the welfare of others. Finally, he will always succeed because no weapon formed against him shall ever prosper.
I pray every day for you too, TOD community; that you will be fortified with wisdom and strength to persevere in your support for PBO and his presidency. You are an amazing group of global citizens who show compassion for others just like him. In fact, you are the whole package - passionate, humorous, knowledgeable, reflective, articulate, talented and inclusive, among other remarkable qualities. PBO has the best army protecting his back.
hello PrayerWarriorforObama. Thank you for your words.
So lovely. I pray for him daily as well.
This is a beautiful post, I have tears in my eyes.
The interesting thing about Jerry Brown is he never really campaigned. He did one rally for Prop 1 & 2 and that was it.
He will go down in history as one of our greatest governors.
Yes he will, meta.
Also, when you have a well educated electorate and you are acting responsibly as a public servant you really don’t need to ‘campaign’ - especially when you’ve got the credentials that prove you mean what you say.
If we did not have term limits and PBO wanted to stay in office he’d be President in 2017 and, most likely, 2021.
#FORWARD
Exactly. How Brown performs every day set the example for who he is and how he governs. He let his actions speak for themselves. He wasted no money on slogans or ads that play into the horse race MSM mentality. He simply let his record shine.
He’s going to donate the money left in his campaign fund to the school he supports in Oakland.
FORWARD.
whew! Got to the bottom of the thread! Now I gotta go back and listen to the Presser. Thanks for all the wonderful tweets RT’d ’em! :D
We’re having a Facebook discussion. . .
Osy Nkemakolam; The blame for this election result should be shared, but I wouldn’t want to go into that for now. The election was like something you see in emerging democracies or countries where ethnic sentiments or bigotry influences results, I think American voters didn’t just let themselves down, but they disappointed millions around the world. #Carol
I read your comment on last thread. This is probably how most of the “civilized” world sees us now.
Oh there is more. . .
He also feels less hopeful for his country if we can’t do democracy right. :-(
Like PBO said, other countries look to us. My how some have chosen to mar their own so-called democratic image with hatred, racism, and obstructionism. And then the ugly right tries to blame it on we know who. But truth will not be mocked !
We are being mocked now. I have pen pals. . .
:’-)
Noticed some comments on previous threads about, let’s just call it “electronic tampering” (aka hacking) vote tallying.
This will be my ONLY comment.
I don’t do ‘conspiracy theory’ as all of you know.
I did do thorough analysis of one particular county, post 2004 election. Yes, the results were easily explained in the context of “electronic tampering.” I use the term “electronic tampering” because the likely mechanism employed leverages the fact that digital information can flow on an electric circuit, i.e., power cable, thereby bypassing surveillance of a hack on the data (aka network) cable.
For further perspective, it’s much easier to hack results if the turnout is low for the individual you are targeting to lose.
With that as context, several States’ results in this election should be analyzed, exhaustively.
My hope is that the DOJ, FBI were ahead of the curve and had taken the necessary steps to insert surveillance mechanisms. Failing that, I hope they are investigating, now.
Regarding “anonymous” intervening …. one thing you should always remember, if an unaudited individual or crowd are able to hack a system, they are also fully skilled at adjusting whatever data they access. I’ll leave it at that.
What matters now is what WE DO to support PBO. That is my singular focus so I have no intention of digging into the type of analysis I did in 2004.
Good points Bob. I’m not really in favor of “anonymous” going anywhere near these machines. I’d feel much better with the DOJ on the case.
WOW…I think it’s safe to say that we TODers are now in a much better place than we were yesterday at this time. :) :)
Definitely HF. I want to sit back and watch the repugs infight and make fools of themselves. I know it’s wrong, but that’s how I feel right now. :) The ball is in their court.
So true hf2…..see my post just below. We are on the same wavelength. :) Love our Guy.
:-) I was close to giving in Hopefruit, as I’m sure so many were, but that press conference …… damn it, he’s awesome. Re-fired up, here’s to the next two years!
Definitely Chips! We shall have a much better rest tonight than we did last night. And there’s a part of me that takes great pleasure in the way PBO created an element of doubt and confusion among some of the media-tards.
{{{Hopefruit}}}
Seeing and hearing our beloved PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA today in his press conference was very cathartic for me.
His optimism and upbeat attitude healed the hurt I was feeling since last night.
Thank you Mr President for digging us out of the GWB quagmire and achieving so much in such a short time.
You are the very best. That’s what is killing the haters. But history has your back.
Yes Hope, I think you’ve identified why so many of us felt better after the presser. I noticed the relief and uplifted spirits on Twitter as well, among non-TODers.
I think that was probably his main intention, to help heal the hearts of disappointed Democrats. And he did so beautifully.
I urge everyone who hasn’t seen this press conference, SEE IT. It’s truly transformative!!
so I’m listening to the press conference and opened another tab to comment. wow. PBO says that only 1/3 of the electorate voted? That’s incredible. If you don’t vote, ya got no right to complain!
He’s been saying that all along. People just don’t come out for midterm elections. Millions of people. Particularly Dems.
Alice yes only 1/3 voted but I think voter suppression played a large role also.Hundreds of thousands were not able to
vote b/c of the new cheating rules by the dicks on the other side. just my 2 cents.
Indeed alice. PBO used this 1/3 figure to call out non-voters, but he also used it to throw shade on the GOP & their friends in the MSM - basically telling them that the only way they can win state and local elections is via vote suppression and keeping the public dumbed down and apathetic. Meanwhile, he can win NATIONAL elections by getting more than 50% of Americans to participate in their democracy, and to do so enthusiastically…When he said something like “I’m the President of the entire country - you won an election in your state or district.” I knew he was sticking it to them.
yep I got to that part after I wrote my comment and I agree. And HF and Hope44 voter suppression and I think Citizen’s United will be something that states will have to work against (Well, CU is national) but I think these things will be important in how we the people are represented.
ok - this made me feel better. Apologies if this has already been posted a bazillion times…
To the WHPC, other rwnj’s and other lower life forms!

Perfect, Shipmate :-)
TY Admiral.
Finally caught up and have come out of my funk.
Chips thank you a million times over for creating this place of sanity and refuge in good times and trying times. I love President Obama and am truly grateful for him. I appreciate everyone here at TODville and all the contributions made.
LL, fabulous post. Thank you!
{{{Dakotaaaaaaaaaaaa!}}}
Love you girl!
Its still a good life everyone.
I recall vividly in 1993 when the Dems lost the Senate and the House in the midterms in a sweeping defeat. I had worked hard for Bill Clinton because of Health Care. He threw in the towel at a certain point on the effort at universal health care, which only amplified and hastened the defeat. His first state of the union address he came out in an abject capitulation and announced “the era of big government is over.” That kind of collapse and betrayal of Democratic governing philosophy was crushing to me. I understood what he was doing and why, triangulating to regain some standing, but it was a renunciation of the entire tradition of Democratic governance from FDR to the present. That was wrong and simply encouraged Newt Gingrich and his henchmen. I am glad to see our President be defiant and keep his steely spine in the presence of the weasels and jackals.
New post.
http://theobamadiary.com/2014/11/05/a-tweet-or-two-161/
Knauss Wrote THE MID TERM ELECTION: A GREEN WAVE — Americans would be shocked to know that we are now an oligarchy run as a fascist state. Sounds like some Third World nation. But that’s where we are. Big business and our federal government are becoming inseparable. Government now lives to do the will of the capitalists, who have no conscience when it comes to social, economic and environmental rights. The Supreme Court has opened the flood gates to unlimited campaign money, equating money with free speech. Accordingly, as the record now shows, the GOP far out spent the Democrats in these midterms. And this money buys access. It determines which laws are passed or blocked. Call it legalized bribery. Thank you Supreme. Now we must try to educate the electorate about this dire threat to the stability of what was an American democracy.”
Knauss Wrote THE MID TERM ELECTION: A GREEN WAVE — Social scientists from Princeton and Northwestern universities proved we the people have ZERO chance of having legislation passed. But the richest Americans and largest corporations can buy legislators and their allegiance. This will become apparent to most everyone over the next two years as history’s worst “do nothing” Congress fails to legislate meaningful laws for the American people. Hopefully this will enlighten the electorate to the error of their voting decisions and will bring about real change in 2016. Stay tuned for additional insight as the exit poll data is analyzed over the coming days. And people wake up to realize the bad dream wasn’t a nightmare, it was real. Too real.
Thanks for today, guys! I’m yawning and blinking and generally feeling tired so since I have to work tomorrow and Friday I’ll go try for some sleep.
Thanks, Ms Chipsticks.
Thanks, Ms Nerdyw
Thanks everyone who participated in making today a very good day-after!
Bonne nuit! Sleep tight yourselves (and no, Hopef, no-one’s going to bite)!
Sleep like a baby, VeeeeeCeeeee!!!
wow! what a POTUS we have!!!
The equality we seek for all over the world can’t even be seen in the most developed country in world, I wonder what we expect in other countries. Am really marveled at the outcome of today’s vote, but I still hv this strong feeling that Obama will still prevail. He will always find a way.
Yes, “he will always find a way.” CarolMaeWY, much wisdom comes with your observation. He will in deed, and that prevailing will come at the end because PBO knows who has his back and knows when his loving supporters and the nation that he leads are humans with human hurts and pain; but we never give up. That keeps him going. That gives him the sustaining wisdom along with that unyielding courage to speak to us with such calmness, yet with much firmness of what he wants us to take in and meditate upon after a night such as last night. He is always listening to the heart beast of the people. Then he speaks. Then he comes out and allow us to feel his heartbeat and see in his eyes: the love, care, and hope that he is carry for each of us. He did that again today. That is who he is and always will be. He is our Listening President. He is our leader of calmness, and he leads again today. He knows we have his back. That gives him that abiding energy. He is our listening President. Then he speaks. Then he speaks, and we listen. Then we listen.
His speaking today gave all of us a little room to exhale. Now we go into our evening/morning with a little more peacefulness. I love our President.
We made the right choice when we chose Hope over Fear, and Hope over Cynicism. Aren’t we grateful that we have President Barack Obama in the Oval Office tonight. Yes, We Are.
May the light of goodness be with him in his space, and may wisdom be granted to him as he presents his plans on Friday to the leaders of Congress. He watches, listens, and plans ahead. Now he will execute his plan for the good of the people. I pray that they will listen now. That I do hope.
While I was downstairs this morning, my beloved brother let me a private message on my phone that brought tears of hope and peace to my over-loaded mind. He knows me well. And when I listened to it, I began to put two and two together to help me to realize the magnitude of the message about to come to all of us after reading Chips announcement of our President would be holding a news conference. My heart leaped with joy because I put two and two together rather quickly with great anticipation. So that hour and some minutes gave me much hope and a peacefulness as I am sure all of my TOD family members received as well.
The President gives me Hope all the time, no matter where my anxiousness leads me. The wine last night was just a path to preparing my heart to reach a level of calmness for today. The comforting salve of our President’s voice and the substance in his answers gave me a measure of healing ] that was very much needed. I am sure all of our TOD family felt that comforting spirit in your space.
Thank you, Chips, Nerdy W., and LL. Not to leave anyone out, so Thank You TOD Contributors who stand with our beautiful Chips and all in our beautiful family who keep sharing, loving, and giving respect to our wonderful and great President. I love you all so much. HZ
