No question that I have been paying closer attention to VP-Joe at PBO’s side in the last year or so. Yes he has mostly always been there over the years (and we have had the pictures to prove it), but somehow I *see* him more now than every before ever since we started to speculate on his next steps.
I vote ‘nah’, but who ever listens to me. Last rumour I heard has it that the race between Harper and Trudeau is very close. Problem is that Mulcair is bound to eat up much of the anti-Harper votes. Of course it works the other way too; Trudeau will eat into Mulcair’s votes should he make a stronger showing. Anyhoo, apparently Harper has said if he doesn’t get a majority, he’ll resign. Fingers and toes, as well as eyes, crossed!
:D Bill, where do you guys find the stamina to search out this type of info? :D:D When it comes to election I don’t like chances and percentages. Me, I just vote, then wait for the results to be tallied. That way I don’t get my hopes up too high, although I do get disappointed if my *best candidate* doesn’t win. :D Don’t tell any of the political junkies in the village, but I have never waited up for election results (well never until PBO but that’s a whole other scenario). I go to bed election night knowing that the results will be top of the news the next day as well as on the front page of the newspaper. That way I save myself all the punditry, speculation, etc. and just deal with the reality once it’s all decided.
Nah. No matter where he is in the standings, he’ll probably be out standing at the polls come Election Day 2016, holding a placard that says “I’m my own man” or something dumbya like that. They never go away.
Here’s a job for some intrepid TOD sleuth! I haven’t read all of this post yet but it seems interesting.
The Lost History: Help Us Find the Declaration of Sentiments
OCTOBER 14, 2025 AT 4:30 PM ET BY MEGAN SMITH
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Summary: The Declaration of Sentiments is the foundational document for women’s rights, drafted in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848 — and as far as we can tell, it’s missing.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
** When I joined the White House a year ago, I asked the Archivist of the United States, David Ferriero, if the Declaration of Sentiments was part of the National Archives. The Declaration of Sentiments is the foundational document for women’s rights drafted in Seneca Falls, New York, at the first women’s rights convention in July 1848. It changed the course of history. **
Ferriero and his team asked around, and learned that it isn’t in the Archives’ holdings — the team contacted various experts and learned that the original Seneca Falls Declaration has not been found. The closest to “original” that anyone knew of is the printing of the text done in 1848 by Frederick Douglass’s print shop in Rochester. They found newspaper accounts and also checked “The Road to Seneca Falls” by Judith Wellman, who wrote that no one has ever found the minutes by Mary Ann M’Clintock that likely also went to Douglass’s print shop. They learned that the tea table upon which the original declaration was drafted has been found, but the document itself is still missing.

The road to drafting the Declaration of Sentiments started in 1840 when Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott and their husbands traveled across the Atlantic to attend the World Anti-Slavery Convention in London only to learn that women were no longer permitted on the main floor and had to listen from a gallery. We can only imagine their frustration!
A few years later, Mott visited her cousin Katherine McClintock near Seneca Falls, New York. During the visit, they hosted a tea where five women planned a convention to discuss women’s rights. In preparation for the convention, Stanton drafted a “Declaration of Rights and Sentiments,” which she modeled after the Declaration of Independence. In the document, she called for moral, economic, and political equality for women.

Check it out! You never know, maybe one of your ancestors names is on this list. And maybe the ‘Declaration of Sentiments’ is lying hidden among the papers passed down in *your* family.
Who is I as in ** When I joined the White House a year ago, I asked the Archivist of the United States, David Ferriero, if the Declaration of Sentiments was part of the National Archives.
I just assumed it was the listed author of the post. I was more caught up with *finding* someone who might have the document in their family. ;);) Do you?
No I don’t think so. My family is from the Dakotas. My Grandmother did homestead a farm in 1908 before she married Grandpa. He also had a homestead. I grew up on my paternal grandfathers homestead in SD. Now my brother and mostly his son farm the old place. I like my soil too. 🍁
Yes it does. The slave stories I saw on the show broke my heart. I’m fairly certain my family didn’t own slaves and they fought on the Union side in Civil War.
I did take the info down VC because it’s interesting and I want to know too. I might find something on someone’s Ancestry page. That’s where I think I first heard of it, on “Who do you think you are.”
i will never trust that a-hole after his insane and consistent amount of obama-hate. yet another “former republican” who thinks he has standing to lecture life-long liberals on how to be liberal. i don’t trust this group for one second.
Well folks, since I’m working tomorrow and since last night’s attemptS to sleep were frustrating, I’m signing off earlier tonight to see if that will help.
G’Night, sweet dreams everyone! And may Hopefruit enjoy her things/people that bite later.
She basically has like a council. She’s the Chairman and then there are several Vice Chairs which Gabbard and Ryback happen to be. It seems that she runs the operation by dictating how things are going to be rather than making decisions by committee with their input. I get the impression from this article that she makes the decisions and then sends them memo’s stating how things will be and is not allowing them to be included on major decisions at all.
Am I ever going to miss POTUS, VPOTUS, FLOTUS and the bunch. Just seeing pictures like this that show so much friendship, openness and humanity is something I’ve come to cherish and expect over the past 6+ years. It’s a little scary to remember how few and far between open, caring and unstaged moments were before Obama came into office.
He truly doesn’t want a debate where people ask real questions about policy. He loves this format where he calls everyone names and says how wonderful he is.
The only good thing about Tony Abbott - he is not Donald Trump.
I love how Trump is messing with the GOP. I really hope he is their candidate against Secretary Clinton or Senator Sanders (or VP Biden, if he decides to run). We’ll mop the floor with Trump next November.
I am too chicken to feel comfortable with Trump being the GOP candidate due to what if he wins? We would be scr****. I am not sure we could ever recover from it.
Good morning all. Daughter and SIL arrive tomorrow, so this is last full day of granddaughter care. I’m completely exhausted, but will miss her sweet joy when they drive off on Sunday.
Love that picture! Thanks Chips!
Congrats J4O!

Congrats on 1st, Jackie4O!
Wait up! I’m a-coming.
Ok you saucy Canuck: What’s the political lay of the land up in the Frozen North? Are you going to keep Harper or nah?
I vote ‘nah’, but who ever listens to me. Last rumour I heard has it that the race between Harper and Trudeau is very close. Problem is that Mulcair is bound to eat up much of the anti-Harper votes. Globe election forecast says Liberals have 67% chance of getting most seats in parliament, Conservatives just 35%. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/globe-election-forecast-2015/article25377958/

Like PBO said very complex situation and it’s all in the details. Thank God for PBO.

So the bottom line is that based on this article DWS chief of staff had to admit that DWS did indeed outright lie.
She is the worse and needs to go now!!!!!
i must admit Donna …although i have been a lifelong dem..i do not know much about how the DNC operates…
She basically has like a council. She’s the Chairman and then there are several Vice Chairs which Gabbard and Ryback happen to be. It seems that she runs the operation by dictating how things are going to be rather than making decisions by committee with their input. No wonder we lost 2010 and 2014.
thanks Donna,,,for the info….
is the chair elected or appointed…and what role does the President play…
The Dems have their President appoint their chairman and the Repubs do it by committee vote.
thanks… :)
we really need to get rid of her or we’ll face more problems even if we win the white house next year.
