LANSING President Barack Obama on Saturday declared a federal emergency in Flint, freeing up to $5 million in federal aid to immediately assist with the public health crisis, but he denied Gov. Rick Snyder’s request for a disaster declaration.
A disaster declaration would have made larger amounts of federal funding available more quickly to help Flint residents whose drinking water is contaminated with lead. But under federal law, only natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods are eligible for disaster declarations, federal and state officials said. The lead contamination of Flint’s drinking water is a manmade catastrophe.
It’s the difference between a federal emergency (President Obama declared a federal state of emergency in Flint on January 16) and a federal disaster declaration ( which is reserved for NATURAL disasters, would make greater amounts of federal funding available.) The horror in Flint was not a natural disaster but caused by Snyder’s desire to save money at the cost of children’s brains being poisoned.

They used the emergency management statute in Michigan to replace local leaders with emergency managers who reported to Rick Snyder and those are the people who made the decision that resulted in the poisoning. That is how this started.

There were NO LOCAL LEADERS FROM FLINT INVOLVED IN THIS CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE.

My husband graduated in 1972 from Caltech. He majored in Mathematics. We went to Pasadena to check out the campus and visited The Huntington Library, when we went to Disneyland in December. We, also, took a ride to Laguna Beach.
