      awesome set of videos…

watch Dr King spar with the media re: his stance against the VietNam War…listen to how they try to trip him….media is …as the media does…DR King is Awesome

      • January 18, 2016 at 12:31 pm

Folks often forget that Dr King was not considered well in some circles…esp when he came out against the Viet Nam war……..he was seen as a rabble rouser..a divider…communist…etc…same as they say of the President today…. as you can see from these videos…

Dr King…was clear and concise and grounded….

indeed…his poise under fire…the clarity of his convictions…how smoothly he navigated from one topic to another…how he was focused to avoid the bombs that the interviewers were throwing at him…it is simply AWEsome

Thank you so much Prettyfoot for sharing this. Dr. King was a fearless moral leader!

          • January 18, 2016 at 9:32 pm

i love how poised he is…how confident…how grounded …how focused…how he was able to connect all the dots….and how he was able to see the traps before they came….he reminded me of the President here…when the President is being grilled by the press at a press conference

Just as slum lords are sometimes sentenced to time living in their dilapidated housing, those responsible for this outrage (from the governor to the “emergency managers”) should be forced to live in Flint for a time under the *same* conditions that these citizens are experiencing. They wouldn’t think it’s acceptable for them; why would they have thought it was acceptable for the Flint citizens.

i’m not a berniebot by any means, but that’s a dumb article by cohen. he could lob many of those same claims to hillary, yet only applies them to bernie? if the plan was 10 pages instead of 8, would that make him happy with bernie’s single payer plan? of course, we all know these plans are subject to massive alterations when working with congress, just as happened with just about anything president obama has gotten passed, so are more about the direction each candidate would try to take the country. we’re not talking about paul ryan-level nonsense “plan” here, after all.

and cohen, josh marshall and others keep up their dismissive attitude toward martin o’malley, who probably is the most well-spoken on the issues, young and vibrant, good-looking, and long history of executive office accomplishments, yet this is what they call “unelectable?!?” he’s the best debater too in my opinion, directly answering questions with clear, concise sound bites and within time limits.

i literally cannot listen to hillary talk. there isn’t a shred of sincerity in anything she says, and i’ve been saying this for decades now, and her actions over time prove this. i’ll vote for her if she’s the nominee, but still praying for some sort of big shakeup to happen somehow. she cannot win a national election. she’s losing ground to the disheveled “hey you kids, get off my lawn!” angry grandpa, when she should be starting to seal the deal. just a horrible, horrible candidate that’s doing this to feed her ego. nothing more.

Bernie’s plan resembled GOP plans: everyone will get health care, only the rich & employers will pay for the bulk of it, any other deficit will be made up with “cost containment”, with no details. A consensus is building that the “cost containment” will have to come from procedures being denied – not by insurance companies but now by the government. It reminded me of all the GOP “jobs bills” that cut taxes on the wealthy and magically led to jobs.

I simply cannot take Bernie seriously. After 40 years of saying he could do everything better, he doesn’t seem to care about showing us how he intends to do that. And how do you not have a way of diffusing “Democratic Socialist” that will change at least a few minds? It’s a childish campaign. Releasing the SP plan a few hours before the debate was a cheap shot. And “revolution” as his main approach is downright terrifying.

God knows I wish it was Biden instead of Hillary. But I think Bernie is a disaster waiting to happen, feeding the red meat of progressives. However, the difference between progressive red meat and conservative red meat – conservatives vote. All the time, no matter what. This is not the election to play around. ANY GOP POTUS will destroy the country, perhaps irrevocably. I fully expected Bernie to win me over. I am aghast at his political deafness. That is what I took from the Cohen article.

I think he screams and is rude during a debate. I think Hillary has matured, but I will never love her or completely trust her. But I do think she would be competent. Bernie is simply not presidential.

And the latest national poll still has Hillary up 25 points.

If Bernie is the nominee I will support him because I will do everything in my power to elect a Democrat, even one who has been a Democrat for five minutes and done nothing to help progressives get into Congress.

You and I saw the debate differently. I didn’t see “clear, concise comments.” I heard that if he didn’t have an answer, he brought it back to what Cohen called “one-dimenional” answers.

I understand the loathing of Hillary. But I think Bernie as a candidate is a reckless choice with a RW media out of control and a GOP Congress made up of blithering nuts.

          January 18, 2016 at 11:27 am

all fair enough. fyi, i was referring to martin o’malley about the concise answers. i think the powers-that-be in “the news” decided early on to keep o’malley off the t.v., since he’s actually the most “electable” on so many levels, and they do not want him messing up their goal of having another big biz friendly clinton in the white house, or a republican. they win with either of those (a clinton or a republican) since they’ll be allowed to conglomerate more and more, and avoid any major tax changes. o’malley would mess that plan up for them, so he needs to be marginalized through “the news.”

Sorry, 4more! I’m reading while listening for my sociopathic boss’ footsteps! In my perfect world, if I can’t have Joe Biden, I would have loved for the party, and especially Hillary, to groom the next generation of Democratic leaders instead. But this is far from a perfect world……….

      • January 18, 2016 at 12:05 pm

This article is right on. Merely shouting your ideology about how billionaires are responsible for all evil in the world is not governance. Many are now noting how Republicans are out their defending Bernie now. They want him to be the candidate. Then they will destroy him, not just as a radical socialist, but as a radical communist who hates America. This video is just a foretaste of what’s to come if he is the nominee. If he is the nominee, which I doubt will happen, nearly every Democratic candidate will repudiate him because they don’t want the entire party to go over a cliff with him, and have the GOP totally dismantle, not only the legacy of President Obama, but also that of former Dem presidents all the way back to FDR. Whether we like Hillary or not, the entire accomplishments of our dear President, and former presidents, SS, Medicare, Medicaid, ACA,Civil Rights protections, same sex marriage, public lands and any sound governance, are all dependent on the election of Hillary Clinton.
