As to the grand jury proceedings, short of the accused admitting guilt, what reason would there be to not hold a vote? Once a grand jury is in session and is deliberating, isn’t a verdict/decision required?
Would this be a cause to bring ethics charges against the prosecutor, or is it considered to be part of his “rights/authority” in his role as state prosecutor? Honestly, when the decision of no indictment was announced, it gave [at least me] the perception that this was the grand jury’s decision. This admission sounds as if it was the prosecutor’s decision. Just another confirmation as to why there should be independence in investigations involving the actions of law enforcement (at all levels).

“Sanders told Browne that he believes Black communities’ distrust of law enforcement is justified, saying, “we need some radical rethinking about police procedures, and the relationship of police departments to minority communities,” listing police accountability after public deaths, police demilitarization and diversity in police staff as his priorities, showing responsiveness to demands made by Black Lives Matter activists.”

I am not sure what O’Malley was thinking when he “tried to focus his attentions instead on refugees, telling the panel that he was ahead of the other candidates with his vocal defense of Syrians and Central Americans needing protection. “Whether it was in 1939, whether it’s today, we should never be sending American children back to death gangs so I’ve called for an end to these mindless deportation policies,” he said.

Having had all the benefits of white privilege - it never occurred to me when growing up that this was what it was. I did recognize it when travelling after 9-11 - and my last many years on TOD have been such eye openers. I was of an age with Hillary & I can understand her comment. Would have been good if she could have expressed the reality of recent years.

So, if all doctors will be paid fees in line with socialized medicine, the system collapses. Period. You have to address the costs of becoming a doctor in this country.
It is sickening that Bernie is putting this forth as easy to do. Has he really not thought any of it through, or is it a calloused political calculation? Which makes him no better than any other effing politician.
The main thing is, in ALL the other countries it’s ILLEGAL to make a profit off someone’s illness, because it’s a giant conflict of interest. Sadly Reagan changed that here, when he deregulated the non-profit healthcare industry and turned it into a profit-drive one.
Getting the profit out of our system at this point is near-impossible, considering that PHARMA and the Health Insurance Cartels have almost as much power as BIG OIL.
