    Good morning Chips & TOD!

The consequences of #GWBush & Cheney’s lust for war include these selfless women (and many, many more) who never should have had to give their lives to save others ….

    Take care everyone …..

Truly heartbreaking, Bob. The consequences of the Bush/Cheney lust for war are endlessly tragic. So many lives have been and will continue to be destroyed because of these two men, but they go forward in their obliviousness and nothing seems to touch them.

What piss me off about the Bernie supporters, is they say they will not vote for Hillary if she is the nominee. So they are just fine with Trump or Cruz becoming President. These people have no problem with a racists becoming President, speaks volume as to what kind of people they truly are.

There’s always been an extremist side to Sarandon, but she’s now lost all her moorings. She thinks that having Trump as President would bring about the long desired ‘revolution’ that Bernie’s been pushing, but she is completely oblivious to the hardship this would wreak on ordinary people. Sarandon has a net worth of $50 million. She’ll be well sheltered against the economic collapse, the job losses, the declines in health care and education, not to mention the endless wars that a Trump would create. She’s living in fantasy land, a movie set of her own creation. When you’re a multi-millionaire, it’s easy to tell other people to suffer for the ‘good of the cause.’

    • 33 swbluega
      March 29, 2025 at 10:05 am

I don’t believe Bernie nor Trump *really* want to be president. They both just want to create as much chaos as possible…To express discontent? To send a message? Whatever their intent, they are doing more harm than good. And the success they’ve had in attracting attention has gone to their heads…making them bolder, more arrogant, and more reckless.

“She issues a stark warning to Trump supporters that the supposed “authenticity” of Trump is nothing but smoke and mirrors, a soap opera character – and that at the end of the day, Donald Trump only cares about himself.”

It took her 10 months to realize this when other sane people could see it in a minute?

Just remind these backhanded Trump endorsers that sane, reasonable people do not wish to share a big tent with the KKK and other white supremacists who are in Trump’s corner. That’s obviously not troublesome for the Sarandon and the rest of the ‘Bernie or Bust’ ilk.

    Soledad O’Brien: #Blacklivesfade on 2016 trail

The Justice Department issued a scathing report on Ferguson, Mo. a year ago, confirming to the broader public what many blacks and Latinos had been saying for years: that the criminal justice system is rigged against them, sometimes with deadly results. The rage of the #blacklivesmatter movement seemed sure to dominate the coming election campaign.

Yet now in the midst of that campaign, an important national conversation about police brutality and discrimination has faded into the background. Instead, an angry white working class is center stage voicing, subtly perhaps, that this election is about recapturing a nation now led by its first ever African-American president.

…Bernie Sanders faced early protests for his lack of understanding of the movement. And while Hillary Clinton was able to capitalize on her strong support among blacks, police brutality has hardly been the centerpiece of her campaign. That’s even more true on the Republican side, despite a once huge field and months of debates and interviews.

    • 43 prettyfoot58
      March 29, 2025 at 10:16 am

It is the media who has cast this issue into the background….

the importance of blk folks & the issues that impact on us have been hijacked w/ the complicity of the media by both Trump and Sanders….

Trump with his racist innuendo “Making America Great” …
Sanders with is focus on the white electorate while diminishing the votes of Blk and other folks of color….

The debates on the Dem side have only given casual mention of these issues…

Thanks for that suggestion. I like Nancy L.’s writing very much. Somewhere deep inside where its not really explainable I have had the feeling that this election is about women. There are so many issues so it seems like just a part of everything but there’s been a lurking notion in my brain that that’s what’s most telling. When we see comedians do segments on mansplaining as a demonstration of what that means, when we point out Bernie is a wife disrespecter and get told not to vote with our vaginas, whenTrump the misogynist in chief explains his disgusting rationalizations for his behavior as if its understandable, when religious manipulators like Cruz work up the crowds to bring down the hammer on those uppity women, and when we see the demonization of the female candidate from the far left and the far right and they have no awareness of their misogyny, I think it is the election about women.

Chelsea Clinton’s bungled answer on her mother’s college affordability plan

By Michelle Ye Hee Lee March 29 at 3:00 AM

“What matters to me as a voter is that my mom is not only the only candidate on either side of the aisle who tells you exactly how she is going to pay for everything, but she doesn’t expect to rely on things that are unlikely, like that [Sanders’s plan]. So she says, going forward, she believes that anyone should be able to graduate from school debt-free, public universities or private universities, debt-free. And for public universities that students who come from working-class, middle-class families, should be able to go tuition-free. But families who come from wealthier backgrounds should pay into the system.”

Chelsea Clinton was asked by a University of Wisconsin-Madison student about her mother’s plan to make college affordable — one of the major domestic issues in the Democratic presidential race. But the former first daughter oversimplified two components in her answer and failed to capture the nuances. We fact-checked how much of Hillary Clinton’s college affordability plan offers “debt-free” and “tuition-free” colleges.

Conservatives have gone from absolute ideological certainty that health-care inflation would rise in the wake of Obamacare to absolute ideological certainty that the drop in health-care inflation has nothing at all to do with Obamacare. It’s obvious that no conceivable data can falsify conservative opposition to Obamacare. The premise that Obamacare has failed is a matter of doctrinal writ, as holy as the sanctity of the great Ronald Reagan. To abandon this position is to abandon conservatism itself. Conservatives can try to redirect their base’s rage toward the construction of an alternative plan to replace Obamacare, but they cannot concede that the law has actually succeeded in advancing its stated goals. Republicans hate Obamacare not for its concrete outcomes but for what it represents to them. If Trump’s campaign has demonstrated anything, it is the hopelessness of crafting technocratic justifications for the pulsating right-wing Id.
