Armed hate group backs out of Texas mosque protest when faced with gun-toting worshipers
02 APR 2016 AT 18:16 ET
An anti-Muslim hate group planned an armed protest at an African-American mosque in Texas — but it didn’t go as planned.
The group, the Bureau of American Islamic Relations, or BAIR, has made it a habit in the past to show up at mosques with firearms and intimidate worshipers. In November, armed protesters stalked Muslims in Irving. In December, they again stalked Muslims at the Islamic Association of North Texas.
But on Saturday, the group that makes a show of carrying guns while they surround places of worship was met in-kind at a Nation of Islam mosque in South Dallas, the Dallas Morning News reports.
“This is an armed defense maneuver, making sure that our communities are safe and secure from any insurgents coming in,” Krystal Muhammad of the New Black Panther Party told Fox4. Muhammad was armed with a large shotgun. “We won’t allow anybody to come in and try to intimidate our brothers and sisters.”
Fox and GOP should be happy. They always say the only way to defeat a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. Only Fox probably believes the good guys are the racist stalkers. I can see why the worshippers decided on this tact. My belief is people can have quick tempers and with a gun in play we have the shoot out at the Okay Corral. I do not like that everyone is starting to carry guns even in the Old West people started to have to check their guns before going into some towns.
But, your worst fear did not materialize. Instead, the bullies retreated without incident.
Enough is Enough
I applaud the New Black Panther organizers.
If you want to know why WI DMV stayed open late today & wait for the shitshow that comes Tuesday when people go to vote:
Richard Posner is like fine wine: gets better with age. Voter ID laws just meant to disenfranchise those who vote D. https://t.co/hPfIxCggwX
— Richard H Thaler (@R_Thaler) April 2, 2025
“In a rational world, the debate over voter ID laws would be ended by the eloquent, incisive and angry opinion issued late last week by U.S. Circuit Judge Richard A. Posner of Chicago in a case concerning Wisconsin. But this isn’t a rational world. So not only will the debate continue, but Posner’s opinion failed even to sway his fellow judges on the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. The court split 5-5 on Posner’s request for an en banc — that is, full court — rehearing of the Wisconsin case, in which a three-judge panel already had cleared the state’s ID law to go into effect for next month’s election. That meant Posner’s request was turned down and his opinion was in the nature of a dissent. As it happens, the Supreme Court has stepped in and suspended the Wisconsin law, probably invalidating it for the upcoming polls. But Posner’s 30-page dissent, laid out in his typical lucid and direct manner, is as exacting an examination as you’re likely to find of why voter ID laws are corrupt and iniquitous, and why their usual rationale — to combat voter fraud — is a lie….
A conservative judge ( Posner's) devastating take on why voter ID laws are evil https://t.co/Q34NA8iQUK
— Colin Camerer (@CFCamerer) April 2, 2025
Posner’s dissent in the Wisconsin voter ID case is especially telling, because he wrote the so-called Crawford decision in 2007 upholding Indiana’s voter ID law, in which he was upheld by the Supreme Court. But he has since recanted. In a 2013 book, he accepted the view that such laws are properly regarded as “a means of voter suppression rather than fraud prevention.” That’s the view that informs his latest opinion.
“There is only one motivation for imposing burdens on voting that are ostensibly designed to discourage voter-impersonation fraud,” he writes, “and that is to discourage voting by persons likely to vote against the party responsible for imposing the burdens.” More specifically, he observes, photo ID laws are “highly correlated with a state’s having a Republican governor and Republican control of the legislature and appear to be aimed at limiting voting by minorities, particularly blacks.” In Wisconsin, according to evidence presented at trial, the voter ID law would disenfranchise 300,000 residents, or 9% of registered voters….continued”
So Dr. Biden looks like she will be cheering her Alma mater Villanova in the Championship game on Monday and VP Biden (who received his JD in law school ’68, was the first year Coach Jim Boeheim joined the staff as a GA) is pulling for his Alma mater Syracuse to beat the Tarheels tonight.
….the broadcasters just said VP Biden won the NCAA White House pool too!
Georgia passed one last week, but all the movie studios threatened to leave the state so Gov. Deal vetoed it. My current Gov. Pence signed one last year. Mississippi just passed one that has yet to be signed by Gov. That is all I can think of off the top of my head.
Lawdy! Bring your tax returns, DT, then we can promptly sit you in the corner little-finger chair. BTW, we might just sit you there right away, anyway!
Drumpf? All I want is for him to STFU. That’s all. stfu, stfu, stfu, STFU. Is that too much to ask? When HRC beats him in a landslide, then maybe? No, probably not. No doubt he will have been “cheated” out of 10MM votes and what not and he’ll have to sue.
He has such an eminently punch-able face. NOT that I would ever advocate such a thing.
Another person who was a Clinton delegate posted this email that she received last night. This is a paragraph, I didn’t want to copy the whole thing, but the “you don’t have to come to the convention” line was repeated several times.
“If you check-in or register as a delegate on Friday April 1st it is not required for you to be present at the convention on Saturday April 2nd.
If you check-in or register as an alternate on Friday April 1st it is required for you to be at the convention on Saturday April 2nd no later than 12:00 Noon.
We encourage everyone to avoid Saturday’s long lines and register and check-in on Friday. Parking at SEIU is limited so please respect that others may be waiting for a space.”
Apparently the delegates weren’t assigned back in February so this was supposed to be when they were assigned and Sanders got more. I was following a conversation on Facebook with a man who was a Hillary delegate. He said that the delegates were told that they could preregister at another location the day before and then they didn’t have to show up, but that wasn’t true - they did have to show up. Apparently some of the Hillary delegates didn’t come, either because they thought they didn’t need to or for some other reason. Here is an article written before today, apparently. https://www.ralstonreports.com/blog/bernie-vs-hillary-boils-over-nevada-clark-convention
“I write as general counsel to Hillary for America to request the immediate removal of Christine Kramar as Credentials Chair of the Clark County Democratic Convention to take place this Saturday, April 2. Throughout Hillary for America’s attempts to engage with Ms. Kramar regarding the credentialing of convention delegates and other matters, Ms. Kramar has publicly engaged in a series of egregious, disruptive and biased behavior that irreparably undermines her credibility to administer a fair and successful convention on Saturday.
“First, in an email sent today, March 30, Ms. Kramar exposed confidential Hillary for America (“HFA”) campaign information and data by unilaterally adding a representative of Senator Sanders’ campaign into a chain of email correspondence between HFA, the Clark County Democratic Party and the Nevada State Democratic Party. As you know, the confidentiality and propriety of data is paramount to any campaign. Ms. Kramar’s carelessness – or worse – in exposing HFA’s data is plainly unacceptable and must not be tolerated.
Second, in another email sent today to both campaigns, Ms. Kramar engaged in a series of unwarranted and inexcusable personal attacks against HFA representatives, and frivolously accused HFA of engaging in unethical practices in its preparation for Saturday’s convention. Indeed, it is apparent from Ms. Kramar’s email that she is advocating for positions in her role as credentials chair based on candidate-specific grounds, rather than making impartial decisions that are in the best interest of the tens of thousands of Clark County Democrats who turned out to caucus last month and who wish to participate as delegates to the Clark County Democratic Convention. Ms. Kramer’s behavior is at odds with the values of Nevada Democrats and the spirit of the primary campaign between Secretary Clinton and Senator Sanders.”
This is is confusing to me. This is a county convention. Clinton was only awarded 23 delegates in February and there were 12 delegates to award proportionally based on attendance at today’s meeting - I think? Less than half of the delegates she won in February showed up. That really seems odd. Also the Sanders’ Nevada State director said that means they’ve won Nevada. Was it that close?
I read the email; a Clark County delegate posted it on Facebook. It said it came from the “Clark County Democratic Party Convention”. I saw in the lawyer’s letter that the Head of the Clark County Dems had given the Sanders access to the Clinton campaign email chain. Has anything specifically been said about it being used to send out fake emails?
That must ahve been after they had already put away a lot of chairs. I saw another picture five minutes before they began and they were putting away extra chairs. Embarrassing.
And usually, I think, campaigns generally know who’s attending in advance - they sometimes do invites and ticketing. That’s one event you can’t spin into “good turnout,” no matter which candidate was involved.
I’d like to see the same happen at a Trump event. He’d probably announce he had to get back to RNC Headquarters for a meeting that couldn’t start w/o him, so he wouldn’t have to stand in front of 12 people.
And the picture I referred to was at the top of this post. Observant of me! I think I’d better go to bed. And yes, they must have been waaaaay off on their estimates. And it was on racial issues. Apparently nobody cares to hear Sanders say that as soon as the 1% has been strung up on lampposts, there will be no racial issues.
I am so sick of Bernie Sanders. This campaign has gone to his head. During PBO’s campaign, I don’t remember him bragging about large crowds at his rallies.
no…because it was never about him….it was always about us…not to say that PBO does not have an ego…he has to…but his focus is on the making the life of Americans…and the world….the best that it can be!

Good for them. This show of support sends a clear message to the punks
Ha!
So finally some good guys with guns backed off the bad guys.

I thought my post was a reply to the Texas hate group article. It was misplaced. Sorry!
