Oh Mittens. Oh, oh, Mittens. YouTube is not kind to you. H/t TPM.

A year and a half ago, you could count Mitt Romney among the Republicans who called for doing something other than repealing all of the evil “Obamacare” — namely, keeping the “good parts” of the law in place while scrapping the parts that were slowly turning America into a socialist dictatorship.

It’s Republican heresy now, but less than two years ago it was a GOP school of thought. And Mitt Romney was among it’s most eloquent advocates.

How does Romney want to pay for the good parts without the mandate? Without the mandate forcing healthy folks to carry insurance, premiums will skyrocket and folks will not be able to afford coverage and/or insurance co.s would go out of business.

I wonder if Romney even remembers how many contrary things he’s said since Jan 2009. His stories change from day to day, depending on which audience he’s speaking to and his poll numbers.

LL, you know what? That’s about the most animated I’ve even seen ol’ Willard. I don’t agree with him, but at least he laid out some reasons for his comments. Whew, the intertubes are going to be the death of the Repubs. They keep forgetting that what they say gets recorded. You can’t make this stuff up!!!

Romney’s biggest enemy is that damned mitt romney and youtube, bless its heart, is always shoving the other mitt romeny in his face.

Could mitt be any more typecast as a typical contemptuous looking, slick waxy, fat cat, corporate operative? Lying, gambling(LDS says its a no no), and insulting his way to his own personal HELL?

JC Watts has the unfortunate job of making sense of Gingrich’s comment about bringing Supreme Ct. judges before the Congress to explain themselves. It just makes no sense. Watts probably wants to take his endorsement back.

Those statements from Gingrich are just outrageous and appalling. This is the kind of arrogance that is puffing up the GOP and breathing life into all the extremist RWNJs.

Yeah, well, I don’t feel sorry for JC. He’s an idiot, even his own father questioned how a black man in these United States could be a Rethuglican. To quote the good man… “A Black man voting for the Republicans makes about as much sense as a chicken voting for Col. Sanders,” Watts Sr. recently told the Los Angeles Times. (March 29, 2025)

Rev. J.C. “Buddy” Watts, Sr., Spoke the Truth. Unfortunately, there is not much a parent can do if one of his ambitious children chooses to disregard his wise counsel. To this day, I’ve never heard J.C. Watts, Jr., offer a plausible explanation why he ignored his father’s wise counsel. What is truly tragic about Blacks who call themselves conservatives is their lack of understanding about the history of the post Civil Rights conservative Republicans. They don’t understand that because of the passage of the 1960′s Civil Rights laws, white supremacist segregationists, probably including people like Newt Gingrich, migrated, en mass, from the Democratic party to the Republican party. Black Republicans like J.C. Watts, Michael Steele, and others need to explain to us what exactly they want to conserve. Do they agree with teabaggers who want their country back just because a Black man was elected President?

JC WATTS AND HIS WORD SALAD

I watched that segment and Watts was just pathetic. He wasn’t making any sense at all. It was nothing but gibberish. It reminded me of the word salads we get from Sarah Palin.

Just heard that McCain made a comment today about N. Korea’s dead leader’s passing would find him joining other leaders in Hell or an equivalent remark. Prez Obama is needing to try to set up a relationship with the son of that leader and McCain’s words would not help convince a son to have a positive relationship with our country. It was probably unlikely anyhow, but it seems to me that there was an opportunity that McCain could have ruined with his remark.

President Obama tried so hard to be gracious to John McCain. Remember how he invited him to Chicago to discuss issues after the election? Yet all McCain has done, since the President defeated him, is give the President his middle finger. IMHO, John McCain is one spoiled 75 years old child who craves attention!

As if ol’ grumpy maverick gives a damn about this country!! If he can make it tougher for the guy who stomped him in the race for the presidency, he will. Besides, I will never, ever, never, never, (did I say never?? I meant NEVER EVER) forgive John McCain for dropping that half-term, grifter, racist, thievin’, dimwit of a lyin’ woman on my country.

      OG…Here’s what he said…

      http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/19/mccain-celebrates-kim-jong-ils-arrival-in-a-warm-corner-of-hell/

And AFTER he got done saying ” “The world is a better place now that Kim Jong-Il is no longer in it,” McCain said.

“I can only express satisfaction that the Dear Leader is joining the likes of Kadhafi, bin Laden, Hitler and Stalin in a warm corner of hell,” he said in a statement.

After making these comments as a US Senator, he then said that we need to work for a peaceful end to the N Korean regime….WTH? He needs to retire NOW! And shut his mouth!

Dems Pick Apart Key GOP Argument Against Passing Senate Payroll Tax Cut Bill.

One argument House Republican leaders — including Speaker John Boehner — are making about their refusal to adopt the Senate’s payroll tax cut compromise is a throwback to old times. They note that “regular order” in Congress is for the House and Senate each to pass legislation and to then convene a conference committee where members from each chamber meet to iron out the differences between the bills.

That’s “regular order” in a traditional sense, but it’s not even close to how this Congress has operated in practice. Case in point: both the House and Senate have passed legislation to reauthorize federal aviation programs on a semi-permanent basis. One key area of disagreement between the parties is a provision in the House bill that would make it much more difficult for rail and airline workers to unionize — just the sort of provision that could be the focal point of negotiations in a conference committee.

But House Republicans won’t let that happen, and have pushed a series of temporary reauthorizations instead.

I’m waiting for this to be reported in the “real” press, the one that gets “pissed off” when Jay Carney changes briefing times. Waiting. Waiting…

I called my repub. congressman today to encourage him to vote for the Senate bill. He was a moderate repub. so I was hoping he might break from Boehner. Anyway, lo and behold, he called me and left a voice message. Here are the repub. talking points- he supports the extension of the tax cut for a year like President Obama does so he doesn’t support the senate bill. Lots of accountants have called him and they can’t meet the payroll the way the bill is written. He also had a problem with the fee on the Fannie and Freddie mortgages. I was so angry I called his office back and left a message saying his rationale was bull. I did agree with his opposition to the fee and said the tax cut should have been paid for with a surtax on millionaires and billionaires. I ended by saying he should act like the moderate repub. he used to be and not a tea bagger. His condescending tone was infuriating. Bottom line, however, is if this moderate won’t go along, the bill is dead.
