If it seems like what’s happening in Crimea is the new normal, it’s because it is. Russia and Putin are soon going to learn that a dwarf economy with nuclear weapons only has those weapons to fall back on, which is suicidal. All that the US and EU have to do is apply increasing pressure economically before Crimea becomes a strategic mistake of historic proportions.
