    Can never thank him enough.

Every day, I am so thankful for President Barack Obama and ObamaCare. I thank him so much for his bravery, courage, strength, can do attitude, and never giving up when the journey got tough, when Democrats told him to abandon ship and, when some Democrats turned their backs on him.

Millions of people can live full lives knowing that they will not be bankrupt due to illness. Millions can breathe sighs of relief knowing their care is in good hands. Future generations will confidently pursue their dreams knowing that a lack of comprehensive and affordable health insurance will never be a burden. All because of President Barack Obama.

What a wonderful human being and leader.

Agree, NW, and I appreciate how you have persisted in keeping the #OBAMACARE story at the forefront by posting numerous, important “front page” updates. Thank you!

      Congrats on 1st vetivera :)

Well said NW. And I would like to add the peace of mind it provides one to know that they are not tied to a job they hate just to have medical coverage.

Beautiful! Just getting back here, and so glad to see this great tribute to President Obama, on behalf of millions of beneficiaries of his leadership. Thanks, NW.

I remember this moment from the Pete Souza documentary about White House Photography. Loved it then, love it now.

Thank you, Mr. President, for keeping on course, and changing the lives of millions and giving millions more peace of mind.

    Interesting perspective ….

“When the British say that someone is “too clever by half,” they are not paying a compliment. This week, that expression can be applied to the thrice-and-future prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. He will almost surely remain in office once the dust settles on government formation. But he will not be as formidable as he was only recently, at least in trying to achieve one of his key goals: to stop an agreement at all costs between the so-called P5+1 countries and Iran on the latter’s nuclear program.

It’s still unclear whether the negotiators in Switzerland can decide on a “framework agreement” by the March 31 target date, presaging a finished document by the June 30 deadline. But if an agreement is reached, President Barack Obama is now in a far better position to carry it into effect than he was just a few days ago. To use another metaphor, Netanyahu has shot himself in the foot.

The big guns were supposed to be directed elsewhere. With the help of House Speaker John Boehner, Netanyahu spoke before a rapturous joint session of the U.S. Congress to urge rejection of an agreement with Iran even before it was completed. And he pulled out all the stops in citing his version of historic parallels. He even used Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, who did so much to make the world aware of the horrors of the Holocaust, as a stage prop.

Then 47 Republican members of the Senate wrote an open letter to Iran’s leadership, lecturing them that any agreement that President Obama concluded with Iran could be revoked “with a stroke of a pen” by the next president. To say that this was irregular is an understatement, and it offended a lot of Americans who pay little or no attention to the Iranian nuclear issue but who do believe in the US Constitution. Then this week, one of Israel’s key American journalist supporters, Thomas Friedman of The New York Times, went so far as to ask whether it is “in our interest to destroy the last Sunni bulwark to a total Iranian takeover of Iraq.” Yes, he was talking about the Islamic State (ISIS or IS), a group of the most brutal butchers in modern times.”

Bobfr, appreciate you bringing this to our attention and your RTs of J Street push back on Netanyahu’s warmongering. What the hell does Boehner think he will get out of visiting his partner in crime now?

      • 14 jacquelineoboomer
        March 22, 2025 at 11:01 pm

From my perspective, Boehner is too dull-minded to know what the hell is going on, about anything. If somebody weren’t moving his arms and legs and mouth for him every day, I’m guessing he’d be at home, 24/7, trying to figure out the crossword puzzle answer for “search engine” when the only clues in the missing word are “g-o-o-g - - .”

Simple fact - Boehner doesn’t know how to THINK.

I was thinking something like this earlier, when the 2016 shitfight starts, and the billions of darkened dollars pour into the economy - PBO is going to be looking like he is solid gold! (well, he is, but they don’t know it yet!) TOD had always known it -

I can dream, can’t I? Turns out that he’s even more awesome that we imagined….

While I’m assiduously ignoring #Campaign2016 (seems like the only thing pol journalists tweet about is this and #MarchMadness), the only saving grace is that HRC/WJC dubious (nefarious?) dealings are under scrutiny — I tossed and turned during the 2008 primaries fearing that WJC would be back in the WH with nothing to do.

    As for Cruz:

I am sorry it is late.
I could not let the day end without encouraging you with these tired and true words, “Your latter days will be better.”

Totally. And it could have been or might be any of us, of any group, if and when the tide turns. I believe it’s only one part of “Man’s inhumanity to man.”

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

JOB, did the man pass or fail the “Aryan race” test? He looks deathly terrified. Obviously, he probably feared of being told that he is not 100% “Aryan.” I used to dismiss psychiatrists and psychologists who contended that racism (or better still the ideology of white supremacy) is a mental disorder, but now I am not so sure.

      • 74 jacquelineoboomer

His eyes tell the tale. I think you are right to revisit your original dismissal of racism as a mental disorder. Of course, I guess it was built into neanderthals (tribe that doesn’t look like us is coming over the ridge) but why oh why haven’t we freakin’ evolved? WHY?

There once was a politician named Cruz
Who had some hypocritical world views
Through one tweet as the clock struck midnight
He gave political onlookers a big fright
Any bets on the exact date he will lose?

      ***

      And Goodnight, TODville!

The pretzel thing reminds me that Bush choked on one when he was president. I’m sure there’s a joke in there somewhere. Maybe the real joke is just that Cruz announced his run for President… Except, the voting record of the American public makes me very worried…

Just before departing, I thought it worthwhile to note that the only person in the House of Representatives able to keep Boehner in his position as Speaker, is Rep Nancy Pelosi.

It is her caucus that can provide sufficient votes to prevent the #Teabaggers from ousting him. This is a well known fact, not speculation.

    Thus ….

    now, good night TOD …..
