        He is on Greg Marshall’s list of those who “might” vote with the GOP. He definitely needs some pressure, isn’t a traitor yet.

        I sent him an email, he hasn’t sent me back his reply, yet. I still think he’s in the undecided vote, might be leaning with the GOP. However, I’m thinking if the Jr senator in NY is voting yes and people were saying this gives Schumer cover, than perhaps Sen. Booker could be doing the same.

    Apparently a white woman’s monthly cycle is where the line was drawn, because it damn well wasn’t drawn at the systematic murder of black men and women at hands of the police. I have no sympathy for Megyn Kelly, she and Donald Trump breathe the same rarified and racist air. Megyn Kelly works for a station that on a daily basis disparages African Americans, so excuse me if I don’t light a candle and say a prayer for her.

    In addition to contacting Harry Reid, be sure to contact your *own* Senators and urge them to support “Anybody But Schumer” for Senate Minority Leader, because the position is decided not by Reid but by a vote of Senate Democrats. And let Schumer know you’re doing this. He can vote “No” on the Iran deal, or he can be Minority Leader; but he can’t do both. Harry Reid’s successor will be an important Democratic Party leader and spokesperson; his/her commitment to Democratic ideals should not be in question. It certainly shouldn’t be Trumped by loyalty to the AIPAC lobby.

      There’s much in this article that would be great tweeting points but I keping getting blocked when I choose one or the other. However, if you haven’t yet read this article, I’d encourage you to.

      // ………………………….

      Politicians and propagandists who oppose the deal have spoken of fifteen years as if it were the blink of an eye; but fifteen years is a long time in the history of a nation; and Americans should know it. Fifteen years ago George W. Bush had not yet won the presidency and delivered to the world his vision of a new Middle East. Destruction makes faster work than rebuilding or reform, but much that is good can happen in fifteen years.
      ……………………………………………….

      Schumer is following the Dr. Tellers of our age, but they have invented nothing, improved nothing, are good at nothing except starting wars. They are, however, trained and seasoned by experience in the art of spreading fear. By joining their ranks again in 2015, as he did in 2003, Chuck Schumer has made much harder the fight against the chief hope today for lowering the risk of nuclear proliferation. He has done it for reasons no more compelling than those that drove the feverish opposition to Kennedy in 1963.

      Meanwhile, 58 members of the US Congress have landed in Jerusalem, on a visit set to last from August 4 to August 10. Their trip was bought and paid for by the charitable arm of AIPAC. The lawmakers obeyed the command of Prime Minister Netanyahu to visit him instead of their own constituents in early August if they want support in the future by prominent Jewish donors. A gesture of more abject servility cannot be imagined. By agreeing to take the trip at this time — so easy to decline if only for the perception of the thing — these captive representatives have in effect declared their confidence in Netanyahu and their dependence on his favor. He will come back for more.

          Meta, at first I thought it must have been written by an anti-Israel/pro-Palestine individual until I read further. It does ring true, truer still because there really is nothing about this deal, and its intended goal, for the naysayers to oppose. One of the points I was touched by was Schumer’s interpretation of his name and intent, and another was the FACT that 58 members of Congress are not in their districts, but are instead being feted in Israel. No question that they have literally been bought!

    Some of us are hoping and longing that that “real personable” “regular guy” chooses to run in 2016, Okay, VPJoe?

    // ………………………..

    Rep. Tim Madden, a Nantucket Democrat who also represents the Vineyard, said people on the islands are accustomed to visits that create buzz and raise the profile of the area. Madden said people tend to give space to Obama and other famous vacationers.

    “I think it’s just respect. We get excited about it but at the same time we understand they’re here trying to relax, unwind,” Madden told the News Service on Friday. Madden said he saw the Obamas fly off in Air Force One one year, describing the send-off as “lowkey.” The lawmaker shook the president’s hand and gave him a signed copy of the book “In the Heart of the Sea,” by Nantucketer Nathaniel Philbrick.

    “Thank you. I look forward to reading it,” Madden said the president told him after receiving the book - a historical account of the disastrous journey of the whaleship Essex.

    U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has a house on Nantucket, as does former U.S. Sen. Bill Frist, and Vice President Joe Biden has for years visited every Thanksgiving, Madden said. “He’s out on the street. He’s happy to meet people,” said Madden, describing the vice president as “real personable” and “just a regular guy.”

        He will be surrounded by his family. My feeling is that it’s up to Dr. Jill. They have their grandchildren and will have to decided is campaigning is something they can do and still care for them. Joe also has to decide whether he can do what he needs to do as VP and still campaign. If they decide yes, I do think he has to get in very, very soon.

          Agree with you meta with one exception. President Obama ran for re-election.

          VP Biden will have all the tools of his Office at his disposal making him a formidable candidate especially since - as opposed to Gore, Clinton - his relationship with PBO is frictionless.

          PBO will bust his butt to help Joe win, of that I have zero doubt, whether the public sees it or not.

        I am afraid, I don’t have a clue.
        I have called them. I reminded Sen Franklin’s office not to play Footie as he had done with the Iraq war. He was for it before he was against it. He did change his mind quickly though. His Friend, the late Sen Wellstone voted against the war in 2002.
        Sen Klobuchar is always smiling, a smooth talker, yet very unpredictable in her views. I will keep calling their local office numbers periodically to register my feelings.
        You can’t be against war……and then turn around and rationalized for a No Vote on the #IranDeal.
        Their staffs’ talking points: The Sen/s is/are studying the #IranDeal, they are getting briefed and they have Not learned all to make a sound decision.

    Yes, deaths of unarmed people (aka black people and other minorities) are largely the fault of a trigger-happy police;

    However, if we continue to ignore the role of the ordinary people who routinely call in the police because they see a “suspicious (read black)” person, then we are not dealing with the totality of the problem;

    Yet it very true that if ordinary people had not labelled their fellow human beings as “suspicious, then Tamir Rice, John Crawford, Travvon Martin, would not be dead today. Calls from ordinary citizens initiated the events and had these people labelled “suspects” in the eyes of the responding police.

    The kids at the pool in McKinney were labelled “suspicious” by ordinary citizens.

    I do not know the full details of the #ChristianTaylor case that has been spreading through social media. But from the little I have gathered, it appears once again, that ordinary citizens called the police because Mr. Taylor “looked into the window of a car for sale in a dealership”.

    If reports are correct and that he didn’t even try to enter any of the cars in the dealership, then WHY was the police called? Would people have called the police if Mr. Taylor was not a black man???

    For now, reports seems to indicate that greatest of the blame is with the police officer who fired a shot in less than a minute after arriving on the scene.

    But someone started the chain of events with THAT call …… and it was a person whose first thought was that a car robbery was in progress;

    police needs to be cleaned up but so do the hearts of all of us so that we don’t immediately judge others

  39. 99 Nena20409
    August 8, 2025 at 4:11 pm

    I favor the name change, not the cancellation.
    Dems need to upgrade their events.
    It can be named FDR-Truman event or FDR-JFK event or FDR-LBJ event or FDR-Carter even or FDR-WJC event.
    That is moving #FORWARD as time passes. This way, it might be named, JFK-BHO for an example.

    DNC has much too much influence on this country. The best way to stop them is a Joe Biden candidacy.
