Really great post Nerdy Wonka! The so called “mainstream media” is not at all interested in rallies like this. Yet yesterday they were all over a handful of white supremacists gun nuts in oregon who showed up to protest against President because he was meeting with victims of gun violence. If media thought the gathering would reinforce racist stereotypes it would have covered and hyped the event. Shows of Black empowerment are a threat to white supremacy and are rarely covered fairly (if at all) by current GOP controlled media. MLK’s strategy of using media to broadcast evil of white supremacy would probably not work with today’s corrupt media. Pro-GOP agenda trumps reporting truth and reality.

I have no *Plans* for the supposed El Nina if it happens. I plan to stay off the road and work from home as much as I can. That’s what I did in 1997 when we had the last one. I just look forward to cooler weather….even if it’s wetter weather. ;)
Somehow I got the idea that the el Nino was coming first and that it was the wet one, while the el (or was it ‘la’) Nina was dry. Whichever it is, I hope it doesn’t cause any grave injuries or loss of life.

She posts so much information that is usually neglected, minimized, and blacked out by the so called “mainstream media.” I don’t have cable. But it is not just cable that neglected to cover this story. Network channels (ABC, CBS, NBC) didn’t devote any meaningful time in covering the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March.

Hay the Chicago Cubs beat the St. Louis Cardinals today, to tie the series 1-1. I think they head to Wrigley Field now. I can’t stand the owner of the Cubs, but I am watching them because they usually losers, have been for along time. They remind me of the Boston Red Sox before they finally won the World Series after 100 years. I remember our wonderful FLOTUS talking about her father being a Cubs fan, how she used to watch the Cubs games with him. So it would be nice to see the Cubs invited to the White House.
I’m not saying the Cubs will make it to the World Series, but if by some miracle they did I would root for them.
So would I. PO and FL would be thrilled and I have a few special friends here who are some of the long-suffering fans.
POTUS would do so happily but grudgingly. He is a devout White Sox fan and we have a huge intra-city rivalry here. He doesn’t even follow the Cubs on Twitter when he follows every other Chicago sports team. The Cubs were offended by that. It’s all in good fun but some people take their loyalties very seriously and POTUS is one of them! I can’t stand the racist owner (the Ricketts patriarch). I will cheer for the Cubs even though I am a White Sox fan all the way. I want them to win in memory of Ernie Banks. Let’s play two!
Look I’m a Dallas Cowboys fan and I can’t stand Jerry Jones. I wish he would sell the team. People will root for the Cubs because when you think of the Cubs you think of losers. You feel so so so sorry for their fans.
