Have been off the grid for a bit. Preoccupied with my 93 y/o mother-in-law’s recent fall and surgery for a fractured femur. She made it through so far but is very debilitated from the Christmastime bout with a major kidney infection. Hope this is not the final downward spiral. She has been a tough Swede her whole life. My husband is hopping on a plane soon to Minnesota to be by her side for a week.

It is. My aunt is 90, and she had to go to the hospital couple of weeks ago, because she had a nose bleed and it wouldn’t stop. They kept her there overnight, and was able to go home the next day.

My mother fractured her femur when she was 80 … for no apparent reason, since she was simply walking from the kitchen to the dining room and it snapped. Obviously, I’ll never forget it, so I feel so badly for your mother-in-law! I wish older people didn’t have to go through those things, no matter what the reason. Hugs to all of you.
Jacqueline, was your mother on Fosamax, by any chance? It makes bones hard but glassy. I think my MIL went off of it some years ago but am suspicious it may have played a role.
I don’t remember much of her medications at this point, but she was definitely on Fosamax at one point or another!
Prayers with you and your husband. Fortunately we are having some decent weather right now. Hope she has a speed recover Judith.

Myanmar to begin new parliament session ending military-only rule.
Myanmar’s parliament is convening for a new session on Monday to choose its first democratically elected government in more than 50 years.
It will be an assembly dominated by MPs from Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD), which won 80% of elected seats in November’s poll.
But a quarter of all seats are reserved for the military, which also retains key ministries under the constitution.

Oh, and I forgot to say how frustrated I am when I get e-mails from Susan Sarandon or MoveOn.org asking me if I was “ready for a revolution” to support Mr. Sanders.
NCLB, I delete these emails so fast, I don’t even know what they say. Sarandon made a vulgar, outrageous comment about Hillary Supporters that crossed every boundary of good taste. I completely lost respect for her.

I have to turn the TV off this entire weekend because I can’t stomach the “high” polls of both The Donald and Sanders. Frankly, I see the latter a mirror image of the former, particularly when the pundits repeat that “on both sides” people are angry. What are the people so fucking angry about? I have cancer and I AM NOT ANGRY.

Everyone is “angy” because they don’t get their ponies and unicorns. I’m sick of that nonsense. Especially since the dumb voters don’t understand who they should be angry with, and it ain’t PBO or the Dems. Sigh.
Ann Sulzer, one of the most respected pollsters in the country, always does the Des Moines Register poll, and the basic number was “high” concerning Sanders. But the internals were another story: PBO had 60% of new and young voters going into the caucuses in 2008, I think Sanders has somewhere in the 40’s. And of course MSM would NEVER mention this: Hillary’s supporters are VERY committed to her, and Bernie’s are wishy washy.
A couple of weeks ago I talked to my best friend who lives in PA. Many in her family are ardent Bernie supporters, and she was a supporter as well. So we had a comprehensive “talk”. She doesn’t trust Hillary - God, I understand that. But I talked to her on Saturday, and she has flipped. We “of a certain age” remember McGovern, and she knows the country will be destroyed if we let the GOP win. And she said she has become more comfortable with Hillary due to excellent debate performances. And here was the kicker: her impression is that Hillary has learned from PBO and is actually capable of changing her perspective. Bernie thinks it’s 1967. HE is the rigid one. My friend was also appalled at his lack of interest or knowledge of FP.

This is the break between OFA and the Sanders campaign. Gloves off, glass shattering against the fireplace. Even in the breakup however there is no drama or insults. Just pointing out the betrayal in a low key way. OFA will register it though as if it was a series of mountain top fires set across the country as a signal.
