Hah! Lee Trevino called it years ago. He said all athletes want to be golfers and that if you asked the majority of golfers what they wanted to be theyād say golfers.
Oh, Lord, Mr. 57 has bought into Bernie-mania. Bernieās going to fix everything: factories will come back, banks will be broken up, no more insurance companies. When I brought up his unconscionable dimness on foreign policy, Mr. 57 was silent. When I said Bernie is against any trade agreements, Mr. 57 thought that was a bad thing. Because all trade agreements = NAFTA. When I tried to explain to him that globalization will not go away, and we need to create fair and vibrant global markets for our goods, he again was silent.
Sigh. Iām trying not to do what I usually do, which is yell. Iām trying to keep the conversation civil. But, God………
How is Bernie going to do all that if he have to deal with Republicans? Most likely the Dems wonāt get control of the House back, they have a chance of getting the Senate back. So have your husband to explain how Bernie is going to do these things. Bernie canāt run things by himself.
He had a good dose of his Bernbot friends over the weekend. These are people who donāt understand the teaser rates of DirecTV and end up squandering their social security on expensive TV. Not the brightest bulbs, to be sure. I have to be careful not to just scream at Mr. 57 but try to persuade him with facts and logic. He did say that Hillary has looked great in the debates. Bernie is a disaster.
If we get rid of health insurance companies there are going to be a large number of unemployed people. health insurance companies employ thousands and the companies that support them as well, think of any large business with thousands of people and what those offices and people need daily. Breaking up the so-called big banks is as easy as when President Carter broke up the telephone companies and now look at them, they are all consolidated again into two or three large companies. Tell Mr. 57 that only very strict regulation is needed for these companies like the way PBO went after them. Make them provide real services, not let them drop you when you are very sick, and refund some of the premiums, keep prices down.
Thatās the idiocy of Bernie and his Naderistic ideas. We donāt get rid of all corporations. We regulate them, while still employing people.
The estimate is 6 million jobs lost. And the Berniebots want this change instantly.
Letās also be clear about another thing: there are very few (if any) countries that are successful at universal health care without making supplemental insurance available. Bernieās plan is deductible and co-pay free, suggests that every procedure will be covered. Impossible.
57, my brother sounds like your husband only much more extreme. He judges everything by his own personal experiences or ideology based on the past (including trade pacts). He is a strict Constitutionalist, and supporter of Ron Paul for years. He is supporting Bernie Sanders this time around. He likes the idea of a revolution and does not believe in minimum wages, taxes or government doing anything not written in the original Constitution. I got him to vote for PBO both terms. Wonders never cease! However, he believes ALL of the conspiracy theories involving the Clintons. I am absolutely avoiding political talks with him these days. Glad I have all of you to be with.
I have had many three foot talks with people when an opening presented itself. I only say what I can sincerely present and donāt criticize but offer an alternative point of view. I see people listening and I know they are persuadable. Thank you President Obama for the training to know when and how to present a bit of information, a personal story, etc. Might I say if you havenāt had training in OFA there is always an effort going on to include more people. Its worth the time and will serve you well.
Snap, have you not heard of Emoprogs and Irrational-Professional-Lefties? Ex: Jane Hamshire, Adam Greene, Ed Schultz, Bill Press, etc. These folks told people not to vote in 2010.
I think by ignoring the Presidentās efforts and successes they have created their own reality. Their disappointment stems from their decision to do all that ignoring. Personally I have not been disappointed for one millisecond, only awed. I talked to one of my acquaintances that fits the “disappointeds” category. See if you can see a pattern. I told him about my week old grandson being born and my delight and he told me that he wasnāt sure in a world that is so completely terrible that he would want to see his own grandchildren born. His two children are not having families yet. I thought how horrible it must be to be him. P.S. He adores Glenn Greenwald.
For those who came in in single digits, this has got to be a disheartening morning. Reality bits.
Isnāt that right…Carly? Christie? or and we canāt forget Bush #3.
Dudette and LDS please send me an email to confirm if you are still considering the DC trip this June. I need to get confirmation on the count. [email protected]
My commentary from last Wednesday January 27th on how I thought the caucus would go. I was just a little off on the Republican side but Rubio did almost beat Trump out for second and I called it on the Democrats side. If any news organizations want my prognosticator services I aināt available
Here it was:
I know, I know most arenāt excited about this years election but I find it all sit on the edge of your seat exciting. I cannot wait until next Monday night.
On the Republican side I think that Cruz will pull it off with either Trump or Rubio coming in a strong second. Iāve watched Rubioās campaign over the last few weeks and he has a strong organization on the ground in Iowa and is turning out very large crowds at his events. He may surprise some folks by beating Trump or Cruz out for second. Iām actually more concerned about him than any other Republican candidate this year.
On the Dem side (this is why I find it fascinating) this election is razor thin close in Iowa. Bernie is counting on all his new voters coming out to caucus for him. Hillary is counting on the Obama coalition (such as it is in Iowaā¦.they did vote twice for him in the GE) turning out with a strong showing from women. Now I think Hillary wins in in a squeaker or it ends in a near tie. President Obama had an advantage with his youth voters eight years ago that Bernie doesnāt have this year. The Iowa caucus took place two days after New Years in 2008. The youth were still home in their precincts for the winter break so he was able to get them spread out all over the state. Bernie on the other hand will need his college students to travel home next Monday night to vote in their districts. Heāll probably get a strong youth turnout but will it help him statewide is the big question? If they are clustered at college voting it will not help him across the state. Everyone including Sanders believes that a strong turnout is advantage Sanders but Iām not so sure that this is the case if its the youth heās counting on to build up those numbers. Martin actually has a strong coalition and organization in Iowa because he has practically lived there for the last two years and I think he would do well but in the end people go with who they think can win and all polling says that he doesnāt have a chance in he&& to win the nomination so if he isnāt āviableā after first round of the caucus period his voters will go to either Bernie or Hillary. The big question is which way they will go. I used to think they were Bernie voters but Iām not so sure anymore.
Anyway I think because there is not clear cut leader in either caucus that it will make Monday night all the more exciting and with the narcissist backing out of the last debate he may have damaged himself in Iowa. Thatās a funny state and those caucus goers are sort of testy about how you treat them but Trump has denied all conventional wisdom up to now so only the actual vote counting will tellā¦.
Damn, way to go girl! You not only called but had the logic supporting it. So whatās your prognostication on New Hampshire?? :) Do you think Hillary might close the gap with some fence sitters moving towards her now?
bottom line, if he loses again, heās gonna quit. His loopy followers may be loyal to him- as in excusing him if he were to commit murder- but he will turn out to not be quite so loyal to him, imo.
For Clinton pragmatists, the idea of “smashing the system” is reckless and the outcomes are too unpredictable. For Sanders idealists, “working the system” is insufficient for the level of change that is needed. So the issue is at least as much about how to get there as it is about efficacy.

YOU have hit it on the head…
Bernie and his surrogates are bashing the President and diminishing his accomplishments in order to show folks that working within the system achieves nothing..
For black folks it has always been incremental change…hard, back breaking step by hard back breaking step…that is how change has come…
someone like Sander wants to blow the s*** up…and let the chips fall where they may…they will fall hardest on those at the margins…that he does not see that…is NOT surprising..
My thinking last night when I was here checking the Iowa results: I was sad. Sad that I didnāt have a horse in the race really. No one that I could be thrilled about, no Barack Obama to say “Yes We Can” with. No great inspiring & beautiful speech to motivate me into the streets knocking on doors. Eh. Iām very glad that Hillary won… and like POTUS said after winning the primaries: …”because we won, we have to win”. Because she won, she needs to keep winning.. and at some point I will motivate myself with a little Obama voice somewhere within me to get out and help her where I can. There will be no repub president if I can help it.. and I cannot stand the idea of Bernie as POTUS, not after that book. Far as Iām concerned there is one democrat- and frankly only one candidate that sees the world even remotely as President Obama (and I) does. Luckily, as Ranman says each day: Thank God Barack Obama Is still President of the United States. I intend to appreciate all of it.
One thing also about Bernie.. and his big ole wish list of magical stuff heāll accomplish… I think that is the height of white priviledge in that he does believe that heāll get his goods done purely because he is not the black President.. he has been told/ thinks/believes- perhaps- that repubs will work with him either with it being said outright, as some white folks do with one another… or it has been inferred. Which is another reason heās so willing to trash President Obama along the way. Just a random thought.

Win, honey please, Trump is back on his private jet heading back to his palatial three story Manhattan apartment that is decorated in 24k gold and marble that overlooks central park and Manhattan. Now in terms of winning, yes, Trump has won, he has successfully succeeded into fooling you into believing that he gives a flying fuck about you. Youāre welcome.

But he should win New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada - ahead by double digits. I doubt heās going to drop out unless there is a major upset in all three of those.
all the latest polls in iowa too had him leading till the actual poll. wait for the next set of the same polls showing he is dropping. he has fanboyz, not true followers. I expect another iowa upset at SC and that will be his exit.

oops “loyal to THEM”
Thereās plenty of hate and stupid in the rest of the candidates. The RWNJās will be happy.
zing. perfect. but for these two mofos, he wouldnāt have been a ‘front runnerā at all.
OMG! I am at work and canāt stop laughing.
Good to see Weiner sticking his head back in the game.
(I was happy to see him too. His retort to Il Doucheās lamentation (too early for Lent) was perfect.)

blowing shit up takes more than hot air rhetoric. especially, in a grid locked political system like US has.
Oh, Bernie would blow it up, just not in the way he thinks.
Turning this country over to RWNJās including the WH & SCOTUS, blows up everything dear about America.
If only he could move to Canada! We took one wacko from the Canadians, they should reciprocate.
