GM Chips and TOD.
Moooooooooorning COS, mooooooorning everyone!!
something freaky happened to my furst, bt.
I was LOLing - you FURSTed on an attachment page for one of the pics!!
it’s all your fault.
You’ll be blaming me for your soggy bottom next
Had the left over pizza today morn. It sucked.
G’morning Chips, TOD, lurkers, everyone and congrats COS on #1 :) Thanks Chips for this wonderful weekly summary of our President’s & FLOTUS’ activities as they go about the business of strengthening and elevating America.
A pleasure Hopefruit, thank you very very very much! And thank you very, very, very, VERY much to the wonder that is Nerdy, and the treasure that is LL!
You’re most welcome Chips!
Oh…and are you thanking ME for Nerdy and LL - I’m honored & flattered but I deserve no credit for their fabulousness..heheh.. I simply enjoy their contributions and learn a lot from the information they disseminate.. LOL!!! :)
 From here on, I shall refer to you as their Mom!!
:) :) :)
I’m not complaining.
I wish you’d have a word with your kids about their taste in soccer clubs
Uhm…not going to interfere. They are good kids! :)
Oooh, poor parenting!!
How dare you call me a bad mother! (Runs off sobbing hysterically)…
Well by “too liberal” they mean that the Pope seems to friendly towards and aligned with policies endorsed by Pres Obama - that’s really what is bugging them…
It seems we have the first President and the first Pope in a very long time who actually want to follow the Christian principles of looking after their fellow man. Both are attacked because they love people over money.
Nailed it, 99ts! True Christians (or Jews or Muslims, or Buddhists) always make the fake ones look shallow. All the world’s major religions ask us to love our fellow human beings and care for the needy.
Morning COS, AMK and TOD. Sure does look like we are all “fatigued” on PBO. Looking at these pictures.
TRUMAN CALLS OUT THE REPUBLICANS
I love that newspaper heading - rather like CNN reporting on the ACA.
Thanks for the clip JER - the GOP following the same principles to enrich the rich.
another non-corrupt pol I admire.
Chips, I love the Saturday R&S! I get a chance to see what I missed - thanks!
I do too GGail. I miss so much during the week and I can just sit with my coffee on Saturday morning and take it all in. THANK YOU CHIPS,
Aw, thank YOU Jackie, thrilled you enjoy it!! :-)
A pleasure GGaaaaaaaail, thank you!!!!!
EVERY WEEK…EVERY DAY…EVERY HOUR IS SO BUSY FOR THIS PRESIDENT…WE ARE VERY BLESSED TO HAVE HIM..PBO WAS CHOSEN BY GOD TO BE HERE IN OUR CHAOTIC HISTORY…NOONE ELSE COLD HANDLE THIS BUT THE ONE GIVEN STRENGTH AND PURPOSE FROM OUR AWESOME GOD!..I HOPE HE FINDS SOME MOMENTS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY..IN GRATITUDE AND LOVE FROM ALL OS US!
THAT’S OF…I HATE THIS DARK KEYBOARD…NIGHTBLIND GIRL..LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

Moooooooorning Sue!!!
Hiya Sue! My thoughts exactly! :-)
Happy Saturday TODers
Heeeeeya Chips!!
Hellooooooooooo Africa, a mighty fine Saturday to ya!!
:) :) You too, Chips!
Good morning all of TODville. It is a beautiful Saturda morning. Love the Saturday round up. Get to see if I missed anything this week. What a week and what a day yesterday.
My husband watches alot of tv in the middle of the night and last night he found a wonderful series on the Sundance channel called “The Honorable Woman”. He says it is worth watching. It is a BBC series about a Israeli woman who inherits her family business. It is fiction and all filmed before this conflict. I haven’t seen it yet but my husband has it dvr’d. Thought I would pass this info on. There is articles about it when you google it.
Off to work. Thank you Chips and all here for all you do to help us all.
I had heard about it and set it to record. I didn’t even remember I’d done it.
Plan on watching it today, especially after your recommendation.
I’ll be watching too. I haven’t seen it. Only my husband has watched. Let me know what you think.
I don’t usually go to the HuffPost anymore, and I did this am, now I know why I don’t go there anymore. The headlines were mostly anti-Obama, you could just tell, from an article that Barney Frank accuses PBO and his administration of lying, to PBO failing on foreign policy from some ???. It’s such a rag now. :(
Good morning, TODville,
So glad that the cynical self-serving “Congress” has skeddadled, and PBO will be able to enjoy a wonderful birthday celebration with the First Family and loving friends.
Posted this last night, but was having computer problems with TOD, so am posting again.
From Fox News Congressional correspondent (don’t watch Fox, don’t have an opinion on this reporter):
What scum GOP congresscritters are. Aside from people who are scions of wealthy takers (e.g., Koch brothers, etc.), who else could get away with not doing their job (i.e., representing their constituents) and who want more of the same, which is getting a paycheck, pension, perhaps a lobbying job in their future while on the taxpayer dole?
#LandslideDems2014
Morning arapaho415! For some infuriating WordPress reason, I found a couple of your comments in spam this morning  They always seem to pick on ones with tweets, have no clue why. Any way, found you and freed you, apologies for the glitch-fest!
No apology needed, Chips.
So much info here, am grateful to all BTs and contributors.
Might have been my computer, IE was closing sites, Google Chrome just sat there, unresponsive.
The money quote
Unfortunately, sir, this is a short list of the many profound issues facing our exceptional nation and you believe, as the 3rd most powerful person in our alleged leadership that the #1 priority should be to pursue a futile lawsuit?
An appalling, sad and a monumental embarrassment for our nation.
Mr. Speaker, feel free to pursue your folly but please understand that this registered Republican won’t send a dime to or cast a vote for any candidate that endorses this travesty.”
GM all.
Been a bit busy so now trying to catch up.
Could someone update me on coleslaw/gate and folksgate?
Would appreciate it.
GM criquet, I hope you have a great Saturday. First, the ‘gates’ are media made. The President visited a restaurant in KC, ordered coleslaw but they were out. He survived. The President yesterday at a press conference talked about the US torturing ‘folks’ and how wrong it was. He called the victims ‘folks’, humanizing them which upset the media and the repubs. In the meantime Bibi continues to murder the Palestinian people, and Putin continues his assault on Ukraine. Oh, and the House voted on an atrocious immigration last evening before leaving town. Backman, not able to restrain her racism, gave a racist speech on the House floor, again before skipping town. I could have missed something here…
Thanks Layla.
I know I can always rely on TODers to get me up to speed.
Hope you have an enjoyable weekend.
Great round-up, Chips.
Thanks.
Thank *you* Nerdy, an incredible amount of work by you again this week, we’re blessed to have you - thank you again!
This article got me to thinking that #SpeakerPelosi (after #LandslideDems2014) may be onboard with an O’Malley-Deval Patrick for 2016, thumbing her nose at PUMAs entitlement and veiled digs at President Obama and his Blackness.
Those of you in the Baltimore area are probably well-aware that Pelosi’s father and brother were both Baltimore Mayors…
Unfortunately, Nancy Smash is a Clinton supporter. But who knows what will happen, right?
We meet again! Good day, everyone!
What a recap, thank you, Ms Chips. No one in the TODvillage can complain of having nothing to do as there’s always enough to keep us hopping!
Afternoon VC!!!!!
/smh/ I just can’t find the bugs installed in my home. I give up!
Afternoon, CC!
:-) Well, you’re on the current post, VC, so: congratulations!!!
Thanks. ;) I try to learn from my mistakes - no more announcing my presence when I’ve entered by the back door!
BTW, that does look like you caught me in action, except your camera missed the book I was reading. The corporal and foot position are uncannily accurate!
GM vc! I think you look nice and relaxed, and green, on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. Have a great one!
Merci, Layla. I’m feeling all of those - nice, relaxed and green (around the edges)!
Sending wishes for a great Saturday for you too!
Ugh…
Media Circus here in Atlanta . They are following the ambulance carrying the Ebola patient to Emory.
Great round-up of the week. Got to see Tim again and again. (I love you Obama). I hope the first family has a wonderful weekend.
This Week at Interior, August 1, 2025
suspected that there was something not quiet right about the extensive media-publication of a very high percentage of people in Israel supporting Bibi’s actions in Gaza;
seems that some of the Israeli people who are trying to speak out are being censored/intimidated ;
I read an article in the Washington Post a couple days ago. Apparently in Israel Bibi’s popularity is in the stratosphere according to the polls.
All about fear and false sense of being kept ‘safe’. Just like the RWNJ’s in this country. It’s effective.
Too many Israelis have bought into it for way too long.
A sunny Saturday to TOD villagers. Will be participating in a Health and Safety Fair on the Portland waterfront at the OFA/Alliance for Gun Violence Prevention table. Glad they agreed gun violence is a major public health issue and let us participate.
btw, which they could have done without the slaughter and destruction we’ve witnessed ….
Didn’t IDF destroy the tunnels back in 2012? In an area the size of a postage stamp and with all their vaunted technology how come IDF didn’t see these tunnels before?
Coupled with Ease-dropping, Surveillance, Blockades, Checkpoints, Drones, etc……yet than many underground networks were built?
Hmm?
1650 now killed and nearly 8000 wounded and 450,000 displaced of 1.8M people to 63 IDF soldiers killed, 2 Israelis and an Asian Immigrant.
Exactly Nena. I don’t buy it. Hamas can’t break ground without IDF knowing where and why.
it’s way more than 1650. They haven’t counted for all the dead yet and there really is no telling if this is the end of it. BTW I don’t consider Israeli soldiers really soldiers, they fit in the category of militants as far as I’m concerned.
Yes Jeff. The numbers of those killed, no doubt will be more than the current numbers.
They are soldiers. Using the International understanding and the Dictionary definition of the word, Soldiers. The pathetic part of it is with our Clad support…..USA…..since 1967, due to Geopolitical politics, USA Gov’t has not really helped objectively to bring about change.
Yeah they’re soldiers alright. Soldiers have a way of doing some horrific things when they are called into action.
Then I suppose I can consider Hamas freedom fighters.
Yes you may.
Internationally, until 9-11, they were. They were then and are now resisting occupation. No matter how the rules were changed shine 9-11. Oppressed people anywhere have the rights to use force to change their situation.
US did against the British. It is what Mandela did at one time.
Or soldiers. During war time the labels have a tendency to get scrambled.
THIS a thousand times over. Ebola is not an airborne virus so all this freak out and hysteria by some in developed places like Europe and America is beyond stupid and irresponsible.
I think it’s just a lack of information more than anything. They get news about the impact but the local news does a extremely poor job of educating. I gotta admit my heart skipped a beat or two until I got all the facts.
Here’s something you can share with family and friends, derbingleguy …
Thanks Bob.
Thank you so much for this Bobfr. Will share with friends and family. You are a fountain of pertinent information.
Willful ignorance. Once the mention of Africa……the US in their usual pattern would over-react. Note: that CDC and The Gov’t…..Fed are just not doing the Ebola fear driven screams.
Some willful ignorance not all.
I hope the members of TODville will give some consideration and focus to these two things and make a push to highlight them here and among each one’s family, friends and socio-media networks:
(a) voter-registration deadlines in each state: if you are not registered or you have not update your registration (if such is required) by the state deadline, then even if you want to vote or GOTV at the last minute, you may not be able to do so. for example, I live in one of those “purple districts”. During the last election, I was talking to a group of young women about WHY they should vote. After convincing them that the social programs their kids depend on for survival are being threatened by their gop representative, these ladies wanted to go vote. unfortunately, the confessed that they had not updated their registration by then - a date after official voter registration was closed for the state. our GOPer won by a very slim margin;
(b) immigration reform coalition: there is a huge level of diversity among of the supporters of comprehensive immigration reform. while it is true that the Hispanic population is the fastest growing demography, there are many people diverse ethnic backgrounds who are so mad at the gop for not passing the comprehensive immigration. I am working on an effort to mobilize the voters from immigrant communities that are not the current primary focus of the bigoted-gop. I trying to make this the “Secret Weapon” for the vote in our area - their contribution to be revealed in the election day vote-count
Il. GOP candidate for gov., multi-millionaire Bruce Rauner, currently leading Dem. Gov. Quinn in polls, has stashed some of his fortune in Cayman Islands tax haven to avoid taxes.
http://politics.suntimes.com/article/springfield/bruce-rauner-channeled-part-fortune-cayman-islands/fri-08012014-643pm
IL Dems are at times foolish. I am sorry, but they are. They voted for Kirk in 2010. They voted for Walsh, the racist deadbeat dad. They have a way of over doing it. They voted for that Aaron S., at one time, the youngest Rep in DC. He is a Fake and a Gay magazine had outed him in 2013. I don’t like people being outed unless they are in denial or making statements or writing laws that are against the LGBTQ people.
It wasn’t Il. Dems voting for those creeps. Not everyone in Illinois is Dem—-wish it were true. But both Walsh and Aaron Schock represent(ed) conservative leaning districts. Dems outnumber Repubs statewide, thanks to Chgo area, but they need to show up to vote, a perpetual problem, leading to the 2010 disastrous results and Kirk.
There are NOT enough GOPer Voters to win statewide. Dems registration is HUGE in IL. Hence my statement.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/08/02/1318525/-Awful-Democrat-In-Safe-District-Votes-Present-On-Bill-To-Deport-DREAMers
You’re absolutely right, dotster. Outside of the urban areas and college towns, the rural areas are red, like they are in every state.
dotster, read my comment about the referendum, if you don’t know about this. Dick Kay has been spending a lot of time on his Saturday radio show trying to get the word out on this.
I don’t think Dem’s voted for Walsh - they just didn’t vote that year.
Quinn, in trying to do a responsible job, has had to make some unpopular choices amid difficult circumstances. He’s not popular. I am dearly afraid that Rauner will win and he will make WI, OH and MI look like progressive oases when he’s done with this state. It will be a bloodbath.
A little known fact: we have a referendum on term limits, and ‘everyone’ thinks that’s a good thing. First, that part of the referendum doesn’t take place for 10 years, so the powers that be in the legislature down don’t give a damn. What’s buried in the referendum is redistricting of the state which will shift power to the GOP and take away the power from the urban centers. THAT happens right away, which could not only entrench Rauner and other Republicans, but voting rights, among all other rights, will be decimated.
It’s terrifying.
Quinn can surprise when it comes to campaigning. He’s tougher than he looks. I send him some money when I can. But it’s a terrifying situation here right now.
What is it that POTUS says about those who Do Not Vote.
Not voting is a vote to the other party.
;
Great Afternoon TOD. Happy to be here with you succulent people.
R&S is awesome. Thanks Chips.
Congrats to all the Au :star: winners starting with this post and 3 back. The Richie Threads…..wow….the Music, Thanks LL.
PBO playing a traditional bday weekend round of golf with childhood friends from Hawaii. I’m guessing they will be going with him later today to Camp David for a bday party.
http://www.toledoblade.com/Nation/2014/08/02/In-birthday-weekend-ritual-Obama-plays-golf-with-pals-before-heading-to-Camp-David.html
hope PBO has a great time with his childhood friends !
That is so cool. He probably had some of the same “childhood friends” at an earlier birthday … in his childhood!
State of emergency has been declared in Toledo, Oh. area as water is unsafe and is not to be used for any purpose, causing all kinds of unrest there. This seems unbelievable to me.
http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2014/08/02/City-of-Toledo-issues-do-no-drink-water-advisery.html
I can’t remember why, but back in the ’70s, I recall lining up on the street once in Trenton, New Jersey, to meet the water truck and fill bottles for personal use. But that was decades ago, and we’ve had even more time to “let things go,” unfortunately. It’s water, people! In case you’re too dumb to know, we need that!
New post in 12 minutes 16.23 seconds. Ish.
I am very grateful to those people in the medical fields and other volunteers who have been working tirelessly to stop the spread of the Ebola virus among the local communities;
it is such a tragedy that volunteers and medical personnel who were trying to stop death and infections are themselves dying or are infected;
there is also something else that needs to be said:
majority of media outlets didn’t pay ANY attention to the Ebola virus when it was just ordinary Africans in some African countries dying;
now that the Ebola infections have spread to the few citizens from developed countries, suddenly on cue, these same media outlets are 24/7 on the story, enticing panic;
here is hoping that one day, all life will be equally important to these media personalities
Go Nancy Go. I am glad Leader Pelosi didn’t hit this crude GOPer. I have never seen Leader Pelosi this upset.
Are a few in the NYPD trying their level to damage de Blasio? This is now the 4th or 5th Police behavior that are abusive and wickedly purposeful.
I had always thought that in every state, one must not gauge for profit when there is an emergency.
This is robbery.
It’s disgusting. Like selling a loaf of bread for $70 after a hurricane destroys a town ….
I’m pretty sure there are laws against it, too.
Sad and wonderful at the same time. I’ve got both chills and a smile on my face, because people really can be good to one another, loving even, if we try. Thank you for posting this - would have missed it, otherwise, Bob. Have a great Saturday!
Thank you Jacqueline. I had the same responses as you. Hope you are having a fine day.
I am, thank you, once I figured out what day it was here in retirementland. Ha. Asked my 23-y/o granddaughter and she said “Sunday.” She wasn’t just playing with my mind, either; she was starting to argue her point. Then she checked her phone and said “Make that Saturday.” And we laughed. It’s catching!
This is one helluva magnificent recap of our glorious week, supporting President Obama @ TOD, Chips! Thank you.
New post:

“Listen up?” I don’t like the disrespectful tone towards our President among some of these protesters. That’s why I will not sign on to any seemingly pro-Gazan effort unless the activism is properly channeled and executed. Disrespect and attacks directed solely at our President to the exclusion and ignoring of everything and everyone else is one way to turn me off completely…
hf2 - Totally agree. How dare they! Who the hell do they think they’re talking to?
SAME goes for Netanyahu, who can go screw himself as far as I’m concerned.
I agree - and PBO is handling Bibi even though it may not appear that way at the moment. US Presidents have in the past simply bowed down to BIBI and let him have his way - funding him freely, no questions asked, no demands made. But this time, it’s different, and Bibi KNOWS it. PBO is the first US President to actually challenge Israel on any level for the last 65 yrs of the I/P conflict. And this administration is not about to let up on the pressure, despite the appearance of continued support for Israel.
I also tend to agree with Allan Brauer that the WH is probably behind the leaked media report about Netanyahu telling PBO to stop second-guessing him.
