Thank You, NerdyWonka. Thank you, Chipsticks. Thank you, TOD. Thank you, most of all, President and First Lady Obama. How blessed are we?? <3 Night, y'all, rest a bit. There is work to be done. 8 years is only the beginning.

Ouch, Cecily Strong didn’t even get trending on Twitter. She wasn’t terrible but I think because she isn’t an established stand up comedian and/or doesn’t know politics well enough the jokes didn’t seem to have an authentic punch.

I can honestly say that President Obama has changed the game when it comes to the WHCD, this is the hottest ticket in town, and this beats the Oscars.

Well said Don. I am here very late, but I am so glad NW posted the President’s remarks at the WHCD. God willing, in 6 months, I will be 70 years. I am so thankful to be alive during the Presidency of Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. I am equally thankful to be part of the TOD family run by the magnificent Chipsticks and her incredible partner, Nerdy Wonka. As a student of history, I am absolutely convinced that that Chips and NW tireless work in documenting the brilliance of President Barack Obama, and First Lady, Michelle Obama, will serve as major counter to those in the mainstream media who are intent on writing negative accounts of the Obama presidency. As far as I am concerned, TOD, is the definitive record of the Obama presidency.

Prior to Jan 20th, 2009, the WHCD for years was in a Rot. It didn’t sell out and the Venue today was a New Venue since 2009 for the old venue was too small for the Demand from Folks looking for Tickets. Once 2017 comes, I will give the WHCD 2017….ONLY……if HRC is elected. Then, it goes downhill.
If a GOPer is elected, wash my mouth, the tickets fro 2017 will go back to pre 2009.

      April 25, 2025 at 11:46 pm

I actually thought she was pretty funny, but objected to her Hillary rah!rah! puleeze.

And I didn’t catch what she said about PBO and ISIL — knew that it was some awful joke that referred to PBO’s once saying that ISIL was JV — a group that beheads and slaughters journalists and innocents really shouldn’t be the punch line of your joke — since it’s an ongoing situation that affects many countries in this world — as if PBO could really be expected to do something other than launch WWIII going after ISIL. Would she be so quick to make a joke about Boko Harum or those terrorists who slaughtered Pakistani and Kenyan students?

    • 38 Nena20409
      April 26, 2025 at 11:40 am

      Yep. I got her jokes.
She didn’t leave it for the weak and meek. She went in and she went were many were uncomfortable. She really did a fine job.
POTUS is a hard act to follow.

I have to say the joke on the Senate Democrats really shocked me. He really went there, and it shows his level of disgust and frustration.
BRAVO, I say. And screw those who can’t figure out how to read a proposal or trust a good man.

  17. April 25, 2025 at 11:42 pm

Cecily Strong did okay, but you know what she had to do tonight was not easy. Following the President of the United States is not easy, and following a President who is darn good at comedy can’t be easy. She did her best she could, but on a scale of 1to10, President Obama was a 10.

This is so weird, but tonight felt like an adult comedy show, I mean President Obama added a whole new dimension to the WHCD. It was sexy and funny and a bit risqué.

    April 25, 2025 at 11:52 pm

I think next year at the WHCD no one might not want the job if they have to follow POTUS. It might be hard finding anyone who will take the job.

      April 26, 2025 at 12:20 am

I think PBO has one more WHCD as the election is not until Nov 2016. It will be a sight to behold, I think.

      Hello Bella,
I am just getting in from a long busy day. I cannot wait to view the video.
      NW tweets had me LOL!
After reading your post it seems that once again our President brought it to them.
Some got it. Some didn’t. And the “bucket list” stands for those who didn’t.

The only person who can come close to next year is Chris Rock.
He is just about as pissed as POB after all the times he has been unnecessarily stopped by “Mayberry”cops.

I will try to check in tomorrow after another busy day.
Absolutely love our FLOTUS different style. She can wear anything, anytime, anywhere!
I adore a real woman who can switch it up just when you think you have figured out my style.
That’s how you do that shit! (as my grandmother would say).
Keep them guessing what is she going to do next and come out slam dunk smoking!
      I love it!

NPR’s program, Fresh Air, conducted an interview with Luther, PBO’s Anger Translator & his colleague (The Obama Impersonator) in Key & Pele. They explained why they formed these characters and how they felt when they met PBO in person & imitated him to his face.

We were out earlier and I finally had a chance to watch PBO on the previous thread. He was marvelous! As tired as I am, I saw the announcement of a new thread about our gorgeous first couple at the WHCD and at first thought it was announcing our gorgeous first couple of the World! (Well, I was drinking a glass of spiced rum on the rocks as I watched PBO in action….). I am so proud, and so grateful, and so touched by this president and his beautiful and loving family. How blessed we have been. And yet so many fail to see the greatness of this man. History will honor him.

I was late watching the replay - was so interesting to follow the audience - they loved any attack on politicians - but the minute the joke was on media people they were butt hurt. They sure can give it out but are absolute wimps when called out on their stupid.

PBO was a joy & there are no words to describe the lady this President accompanied to the dinner. She is amazing. 8 more years indeed

Hi Everyone, I’ve seen PBOs full remarks a number of times now, shared it on YT, Tumblr and Twitter as well as with hubby. It’s priceless. Truth through humour. Loved it! This along with a number of other historical vids will be seen over and over again. Love FLOTUS, I’m sure she had a good chuckle about this too.

GC, before I leave out I had to answer your response with……
    “Bucket”
    LOL!
Have a great day everyone! I know I am.
I just viewed the video and how can you love POB and FLOTUS any more?
We are so blessed to have them in the WH.
I am going to savor every second and will need a lot of therapy when they leave.
I do know that my morning walks will probably go until the evening……
