Donald Trump’s rhetoric about Muslims and Syrian refugees is at the center of a new terrorist recruitment video put out by the Somalian jihadist group al Shabaab. Trump’s guest appearance is preceded by an old clip of U.S.-born al Qaeda cleric Anwar al Awlaki warning that the West will “become the land of “religious discrimination and concentration camps.” It then cuts to Trump reading his promise to stop Muslim immigration aloud at a campaign rally. “And so remember this, so listen: Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the [expletive] is going on,” Trump says to a cheering grown. The video cuts again to Awlaki, who was killed by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in 2011. “The West will eventually turn against its Muslim citizens,” he warns.
GGail - Happy New Year and congratulations on first! Had a lovely evening ushering in 2016 with music and dance with our local favorite, Pink Martini Band and NPR ATC host, Ari Shapiro who grew up here. They sang in multiple languages, used a group of Japanese businessmen for backup on one song, and invited the Portland Youth Philharmonic to play with them. Much fun!
No better way to ring in #Happy2016 than with infectiously fun .@arishapiro & .@PinkMartiniBand. pic.twitter.com/pqvhznQcP9

Stan Pate, the Alabama businessman who paid for this is supporting Marco (ugh) Rubio, and has paid for similar banners at the Cotton, Orange and Sugar bowls.
From the article:
“The messages’ tagline was ‘anybodybuttrump.us,’ a barebones website belonging to a Tuscaloosa, Alabama-based group called the ‘We the People Foundation.’ The site is registered to Pate, who The Huntsville Times once referred to in a profile as ‘an edgy force in Alabama politics.’
‘This is not over,’ Pate told CBS News. ‘This is just beginning.’
Pate said that he has bought similar, smaller banner ads at the Orange Bowl, the Cotton Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. AirSign, the Florida-based airborne ad firm contracted to fly the anti-Trump messages, confirmed the buys.”
Also HF2, saw on a previous thread that SyFy is airing all Twilight Zone episodes this weekend.
What a treat for you and others with access to cable.
One episode I remember from childhood that I haven’t seen since (which aired when I was 5-10 years old),had some sort of black cloud overhead major cities, but can’t remember what was causing it — if you see this episode, let me know the cause.
Hi Arapho - yes, I’ve been enjoying the marathon so far! So many new episodes I’ve never seen. And I think I know which episode you might be referring to. It’s called “I’m the Night, color me black” and it’s about a guy who was sentenced to an execution for killing a racist bigot. On the day of his execution a dark cloud set upon the town and morning daylight never came. The darkness spread to other cities/towns as well. I still can’t recall all the details although I’ve seen this episode at least 2x in the past.
SyFy will be airing that episode on Sunday morning (Jan 3) at 6:30AM.
On previous posts have seen @prettyfoot58’s concern about Dem votes this year (and the Mummer’s parade in Philadelphia — more downthread), but check out yesterday’s @latimes’ homepage article (lower right in tweet photo)…

It feels like we’re banging our collective heads against the wall (since HRC, FeelTheBern, DWS, MSM, etc. seem to willfully ignore this fact:
Per @danpfeiffer:
#2016DemNominee must "motivate a coalition of voters who have only ever turned out when President Obama was on the ballot"
But Pfeiffer has a serious message — the Obama coalition has members who ONLY voted for PBO — all Dem candidates and strategists must focus as if their lives (i.e., this country’s well-being) depend on GOTV for those people who endured unimaginable hardship and wait-times to cast the precious ballot for Obama/Biden in 2008 and 2012.
Have come down with a cold or some sort of crud, so am enjoying an evening on my couch, in front of the fire, with Chanel in her bed, watching the New Year’s Concert on PBS from Vienna. Orchestra and Vienna Boys’ Choir, and the Lippizaners…then, afterwards, a brand new Sherlock Holmes with Benedict Cumberbatch. I was too sore and coughing to even venture outside today, and am already in my nighty and robe, cozy and warm. I love Vienna, so this is a treat for me. Also, while wandering alone in the streets of Vienna two years ago, I came upon the stables of the Lippizaners. Some of then had their adorable heads sticking out of their stalls….big beautiful eyes and long eyelashes. I loved it. Good memories.
For all the northern Californians, my son and his family has a MARVELOUS time in San Francisco and surroundings for their week’s vacation. I’m looking forward to pictures when, as my son says, they get organized :-) That will take a while for five people!!! I’m just thrilled that they had a spectacular time, and have now been where I spent four wonderful years of my life.

GGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaail! :-)
Chiiiiiiiiips :-)
HNY GGail - hope your resolution is to watch test cricket with amk
It’d be less painful for her than watching Man Utd. Well, marginally.
She can follow Australia - no pain much gain
I will quite literally crack up if GGail starts talking about googlies, silly mid-offs and tailenders
Don’t worry girls, I’m focusing on tomorrow’s ManU match. 😄😄😄
 #Loyalty
Oh, you betcha
variation in terms - only one word in football - gooooooooooooal
Silly point has always been my favourite - never worked out where it is - one day
“only one word in football – gooooooooooooal”
Not for United fans, it’s been “no goooooooooals” for most of this season :-(
And it started so well. Life’s little mysteries
I need to be more selective on which Posts to comment First on
Congrats, GGail:) I’m putting this over here…

Wonder if he’ll apologize to Hillary now?
Wow DF, this is very interesting.
Happy NY df - and the answer to your question is NO - and the media will blame Hillary.

What i found interesting is that neither Bernie Sanders or O’Malley’s name is mentioned
LOL.
