Happy Birthday Mr. President. You have the toughest job in the world, and speaking for myself, as an American citizen, I appreciate your accomplishments, efforts, your contribution, victories and most importantly, the barriers you have broken since you have been in office. Every one has their own opinion about polictics and politicians. Its impossible to please everyone. May God continue to give you strength and wisdom for the rest of your tenure as our President and beyond.
I signed one of the OFA cards last week AND made a contribution š
Off topic - Rev Barber is having a nice turn-out for the North Carolina Mountain Moral Monday. They are putting their Republicanās - State and National on blast! Heās calling them out by name! hahahaha!!!
We in the Caribbean extend warm birthday wishes to the most caring and hard working leader in the world. Our prayer is that others would emulate you. Here is to 53 more years in which you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
I didnāt even realize I was all alone back there, in my own little world! Sigh! And no, Desertflower, I wasnāt talking to myself. I was … I …was… I was meditating! š
What I shall be cooking tonight celebrating the missusā new job:
Chicken breast filets, seasoned in Hitching Post magic dust, sauteed in evoo and then topped with habanero jelly
Succotash of corn, zucchini, and red pepper
No starch

The article doesnāt mention whether this is a state or federal dam, but so many huge public works projects were constructed during FDRās adm that these behemoths must be in need of attention.
From the article:
“A Northern California dam is under repair after it cracked Sunday and prompted nearby residents to panic as officials issued a flash-flood warning…
snip /
…”the cracks prompted concerns among residents who reported hearing a loud boom, according to Fox40.”
“The incident sparked a serious deterioration in the tone of U.S. criticism of Israel, from the State Department, which described the attack as ādisgracefulā, to Obama aide Valerie Jarret, who called it āindefensibleā and all the way to the much esteemed UN envoy and anti-genocide advocate Samantha Powers, who described it as āhorrificā.
The fallout was compounded on Monday morning by the implications of a damning New York Timesā investigation of last weekās bombardment of the school and UN shelter in Jabaliya. The report, prominently displayed both in print and on the web, found that āIsraeli troops paid little heed to warnings to safeguard such sites [of refuge] and may have unleashed weapons inappropriate for urban areas despite rising alarm over civilian deaths.ā The paper found evidence that the school had been hit with 155 mm Israeli artillery shells, which are deemed to be accurate if they land within 50 meters of their intended target.
Such criticism enrages most Israelis, who view it as one-sided and misinformed and willfully indifferent to the long line of justifications that Jerusalem cites in its defense. What Israelis are finding hard to grasp is that for the past month they have been living in a parallel universe to most of the rest of the world. While most Israeli media have provided their consumers with only the briefest of glimpses of death and destruction on the Palestinian side, the rest of the world, including America, has been subjected to ever-increasing doses of scenes of horrendous suffering in Gaza. In todayās Twitter- and social-media-dominated world, the impact of such gruesome scenes spreads wider and multiplies faster than ever before.
Just before the cease-fire was announced, all the injurious elements appeared to be coming together to create a critical mass that threatened to launch a chain reaction that could have brought about a diplomatic meltdown for Israel, not in the distant future but just a few hours away. A cease-fire, if it holds, comes in the nick of time.”
Israel stood perilously close to "Goldstonization" of Operation Protective Edge http://t.co/8I6aBNm3Y4
In my essays thatās the point Iāve been making. This hasnāt been a usual Israeli “mowing” operation. Even the last one took place before Twitter was as ubiquitous as it is now. Now itās impossible for such atrocities to not be viewed at an instant world wide.
Watching the pro debut at the Rogers Cup of 17 year old Francoise Abanda of Canada. A little shaky in the first set, but doing a great job in the second against Cibulkova. This kid is gonna be a good one.
Dinner menu (only posted to note contrast to LLās from scratch culinary skills):
Costco spinach salad—-excellent, love the poppyseed dressing
Trader Joeās fettucine alfredo—-also excellent, not too heavy, not too light, just right—-like The Three Bears.
Dinner prep—-about 5 minutes—-also excellent—-my typical style.
9 mo. old grandbabeās fave food—-hummus. Isnāt that funny—-and interesting? No?

Senator arrives at his KY home for August recess.
No doubt startled by the sudden screech of the porch door, a voice from the back room yells: Mitch? Is that you?
š
That tortoise actually looks nice. Mitch can only wish he were that appealing.
