A pop-up ad appeared in my Facebook feed this morning with a photo of Portman and a phone number requesting I call to thank him for standing up to President Obama’s “liberal agenda” by vowing to block any nominee to SCOTUS. I called all right and gave the Senator’s staffer an ear-full about what the Constitution says on this very topic. He stammered and said the ad was from a third party. I reiterated my point that WE THE PEOPLE had our say in the last Presidential election and this President has the obligation to nominate, just as they have the obligation to “advise and consent”. Then, I blocked the ad.

The murder of three young men in Fort Wayne, Indiana last week has left many Muslim Americans reeling — and it has also once again brought to the forefront the little attention given to violence against black bodies in the United States.
Many Muslim and black Americans who gathered at a vigil for the three men in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday noted that the violence faced by people at the intersection of anti-blackness and Islamophobia in the United States is often ignored by both the media and the general public.
The motive may still be unclear, but many Muslims are pointing to the rise of Islamophobia in the U.S. as one possible answer for the shooting…“Even if they weren’t killed because of their faith or skin or nationality, the reaction to their deaths is a direct result of these factors,” wrote a cousin of two of the victims in a Facebook post four days after the shooting. “They were good boys, but what the hell kind of people only mourn deaths if lives were lived according to their standard? What the hell kind of people only mourn people if they look and live and pray like them?”
Apparently, she’s a former Harvard classmate of the President’s, per CNN. And as an Iowan, a poke in the eye to Grassley, if this story is true (since I don’t trust media sources). I love President Obama and his wicked ways to poke ’em in the eye!

That the state court says they could go to another state to avoid travel! Another state without the “safety” that is demanded in Texas. That really was off the planet.
Demanded “safety” for a procedure that has less risk than other high risk procedures for which there is no such demand for safety.
The more the justices dug, the more the law was exposed for what it really is… something that was put in place to deny (or make it extremely difficult) women the ability and freedom to exercise their right, and to force the will and belief of anti-abortionists (not pro-lifers) upon the citizens of the state.

You know, I don’t feel too badly about this. Of course it’s ridiculous, childish, destructive behavior but I think she’s encouraged a bit of this too. She tried a bit of this purity stuff with President Obama. I’m sure she’s very surprised that she herself is not pure enough for them. They will turn on Sanders too, either when he has to pivot a little during the campaign or more likely if he were to become president, the first time he had to compromise even a little bit.
