This photo represents me as well; books were always in the house and one of my earliest memories is of my mom sharing a love of books and reading with me. I was able to pay it forward during the 30 years that I was a teacher (just yesterday a 30 year-old former student stopped me when I was out shopping and told me that she still remembers studying a Langston Hughes poem and learning about elections in my class). I now sit in my cottage home that has bookshelves filled with a wide variety of hardcover and paperback books and Kindles loaded with e-books and time to enjoy it all; bliss.

FBI agents arrested Jerry DeLemus, co-chair of Veterans for Trump in New Hampshire, on Thursday following his indictment in connection with the 2014 Bundy Ranch standoff in Nevada, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.
Federal charges against DeLemus included “conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, threatening a federal law enforcement officer, attempting to impede or injure a federal law enforcement officer and several firearms charges,” the newspaper reported.
Susan DeLemus, a state representative and fellow supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, confirmed her husband’s arrest to the newspaper. Trump announced that he was forming Veterans for Trump in July and named DeLemus among the co-chairs.

So, a couple of quick thoughts here:
1. I find it really gross when Sanders won’t even say Hillary Clinton’s name, but instead refers to her, for the first time in the interview, as “the woman that has been in three presidential campaigns—two of her husband’s and her own already.” What the fuck.
2. Black voters just haven’t heard of Bernie Sanders. That old canard. This line of bullshit is problematic for a whole lot of reasons, not least of which is the implicit circular racist shitshow that is: Black voters aren’t informed and, if they were, they would definitely vote for Bernie
Sanders, so the fact that they aren’t voting for Bernie Sanders proves they’re uninformed. For fuck’s sake.
3. “The age of the Obama coalition was 2008.” Uh, nope. That was the beginning of the age of the Obama coalition. And that coalition is the future of not only the Democratic Party, but of the country. The fact that the Sanders campaign has failed to realize or accept this fact is exactly why they’re losing.
LH, both Sanders and his wife are out of touch with the world as it is. They are living in a fantasy universe in which people have only to hear them and they will fall at their feet. They believe that the millions of us who support President Obama will look at this 74 year old Socialist with outmoded ideas and think he is the better choice for our future.

In a way, I blame my friend Greg Sargent. In the first week in January, he noted, almost in passing, that Mitt Romney seemed to be making a lot of false claims, and someone “really should document them all.” That struck me as a good idea, so I decided to tackle this on my own.
After all, I thought at the time, how hard could this be? Once a week, I’d let readers know about Romney’s whoppers, which I assumed would total about a half-dozen a week, and maybe after the election, I’d do a top 20 list of my favorites. The project would be a nice little Friday-afternoon feature.
Little did I know at the time that Romney would become an ambitious prevaricator, whose rhetoric would come to define post-truth politics. Nearly 11 months after Greg Sargent’s harmless suggestion, I’ve published 40 installments in this series, which, before today, featured 884 falsehoods. (If you include today’s edition, the new total is 917 falsehoods for the year.)
I wish that were a typo. It’s not.
