Oh, hey. Look at Count Dracula showing off her facelift and Botox enhanced face. Great. Now its perfectly preserved . 50 years from now she’ll be on display in the Museum of Natural Arts and Sciences, our very own version of the modern gargoyle.

Meta, I just read the Mother Jones article from the previous thread about PBO’s triumphs on his trip. Since so little was discussed about PBO’s trip, that would make a good thread for others to read. I believe those leaders genuinely like and trust PBO and his intelligence. That’s why he is able to accomplish so much. I cannot see any of the republican candidates coming even close to dealing with these leaders.

Someone on TOD (I think it was saintroscoe) stated that the reason the MSM didn’t cover the Asia Pacific trip was because they didn’t understand what happened.

Then I read the Mother Jones piece witten by Drum and there it was.

“Dan Drezner recommends Walter Russell Mead’s nickel summary of President Obama’s recent whirlwind swing through Asia. I confess that the reaction to rotating a couple hundred troops through Darwin struck me as a little overblown, but decoding the sub rosa minutiae of diplomatic intrigue is tricky at the best of times, so I figured I was probably missing something.

          SKIP
The US is moving forces to Australia, Australia is selling uranium to India, Japan is stepping up military actions and coordinating more closely with the Philippines and Vietnam in the South China Sea, Myanmar is slipping out of China’s column and seeking to reintegrate itself into the region, Indonesia and the Philippines are deepening military ties with the the US: and all that in just one week.

          SKIP
If that wasn’t enough, a critical mass of the region’s countries have agreed to work out a new trade group that does not include China, while the US, to applause, has proposed that China’s territorial disputes with its neighbors be settled at a forum like the East Asia Summit — rather than in the bilateral talks with its smaller, weaker neighbors that China prefers.

Rarely has a great power been so provoked and affronted. Rarely have so many red lines been crossed. Rarely has so much face been lost, so fast….[I]t was as decisive a diplomatic victory as anyone is likely to see

          SKIP
OK, then. Congratulations, Team Obama! Anyway, this is interesting. I haven’t seen Obama get much credit for this trip, possibly because the minutiae of diplomatic intrigue is no more obvious to most reporters than it is to me. And I certainly wouldn’t have expected it from Walter Russell Mead. But apparently it was quite the triumph.

Link to the entire article is posted by ZIZI above

bottom line - they STILL don’t understand what happened.

Glad you guys read it. What he accomplished on this trip is absolutely amazing and significant. And you have to read it at Mother Jones. I should tweet it to the MSM…….

Please support the ‘Zero Tolerance Pledge’ that I’ve just launched on Twitter:

    Our4thEstate Bobfr
Please Support the Zero Tolerance Pledge - ZERO GOP elected to the US Senate, House, State & Local Gvts in 2012. ZERO. Support the 99%. VOTE

I will be unrelenting in promoting the Pledge on Twitter & hope many of you will advance it on FaceBook and anywhere else you think it might stick.

It’s time we crush the Koch & Norquist terrorists and all their minions. I’d be delighted if a legitimate opposition party existed in America because that is an essential element of the dialectic of democracy. Today, that dialectic is dead because only one party is willing to govern in all the dimensions that ‘govern’ means in a democracy.

    Thank you.

Twelve wounded troops from Afghanistan and Iraq, several missing both their legs, were clustered Monday around two long tables at the vice president’s home.

Joe and Jill Biden’s third annual holiday meal for injured military personnel fell on an especially poisonous day of partisan finger-pointing in Washington. A special congressional “supercommittee” admitted that it had failed to cut the deficit by $1.2 trillion.

Vice President Biden did not mention the committee’s collapse. He barely acknowledged the war in Afghanistan or the controversial mission in Iraq, which is drawing to a close next month.

Instead, he spoke briefly about what he said was the country’s most sacred duty.

“We have a lot of obligations as a country,” Biden said. “We have obligations to the young, the old and the infirm. We have only one true sacred obligation, and that is to provide for those of you we send into harm’s way and give you every single, solitary thing that you could possibly need to make the transition back home reasonable and workable. That is the only truly, truly sacred obligation we have.”

IMHO there should be 80% aproval of re-election for this beautiful administration and what they have done for active duty military and vets alike during their first term. Re-electing President Obama as far as the military personnel is concerned should be a after thought.

Good Morning all. Getting ready to go to work. Excited about this evening. We are doing voter registration training starting tonight at our Delray office in Florida. I have my “Third Party Voter Registration Certificate”….don’t get me started on that one…

Anyway…we are starting to GOTV. Florida is a very transient state. We have our snow angels that come down all winter. People move all the time here. We also have “No Match, No Vote”, Your voter registration must match your Florida DL or ID. You have to show that to vote here. Everyone was also thrown off the mail in vote rolls after the 2010 election. Everyone, Republicans, Independents, and Democrats that voted by mail has to request to do it again. It WON”T automatically come in the mail as it has done in the past. Most of our Seniors vote by mail. They do not know this law is now in effect. We are renewing their vote by mail registrations, updating voter registrations if people have moved and getting NEW voter Registrations starting this weekend.

This is my favorite part of the campaign…Have a great day and remember:
    GOTV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And make sure you turn them In 48 hours after you sign register them to vote.
Very important, otherwise you get a fine.
I did one in Clearwater, fl 3 weeks ago, got 23, but had to turn them in that day to my team leader. It’s what she told us all.

      Good luck!
