It is so sad and more than a tad irritating to have people dredge up versions of your still forming life story as a 19/ 22 year old…
Versions told from the perspective of and by random people who live on the fringes of your world and are merely incidental to your life story …but who think they know you because you accidentally encounter them at just one of the various phases of life as it happens to and unfolds for you…
It is even sadder and more infuriating when these random people insist on clinging to the vestiges of what in the greater scheme of things, is but a blip in your overall story…but feel infinitely qualified in their categorical definition of you by that momentary encounter…
…insisting that this makes them an authority on your life, the totality of who you were …and have grown up to be…
It is amusing when these same people from your youth, some 30 years later, try to pass off tales of sexual encounters with a 20/22 year old boy…raging hormones and all…as evidence of meaningful intimacy…
Heaven forbid that the fleeting encounters of our youth - college and early post college days - insist on telling their versions of that regrettable time long and best forgotten…which in retrospect elicit cringe-worthy memories which you hope against hope nobody else is privy to…
Amen Chi. Even though I read the article, I felt a bit voyeuristic in that this is our President, and has been open to what I feel is an exorbitant amount of scrutiny, and greedy people salivate. This reminds me of the video of POTUS and FLOTUS in a moment of intimacy, and the disgusting remarks by a member of a film crew, which I muted, and have only viewed that video initially out of interest, like anyone else, but then again to understand the context. I was embarrassed in having that accessible, so I refuse to watch it. Same with his birth certificate, tax returns, etc. There’s only so much I feel I need to know about the private lives of people I respect and admire. In the end, aren’t we fabulously happy he didn’t stay with that woman?
I was intrigued by the article as well. I thought this quote was eerily prophetic. His past lover seemed to understand him very well. I am interested, however, to learn how and why she decided to reveal such details about their relationship at this time.
I thought she understood him well also, very intuitive. And, as it turns out (see above), she was very accurate in predicting his future. I don’t blame her for contributing. She was contacted by the author who likely said he wanted to fill in the blanks in the life of this most remarkable man, the POTUS, that it would become a part of his historical biography and she agreed and wanted to give a truthful account. I would have done the same. I was just impressed with the depth of his thinking and writing at that age, an impressive and multi-dimensional young man. I was a little more shallow at that age—-more like, when and where is the next party?
“Doesn’t change the fact that she’s a real bitch to sell her diary with his private letters.” This is how I feel. Many of their exes have been contacted, but they decline to speak.
Selling his private letters is absolutely DESPICABLE. Come on !!! Just because he’s the POTUS doesn’t mean the public has a right to know every single PRIVATE feeling he has had in his life. I’m absolutely OUTRAGED. This is a kind of rape, an “emotional” rape. No matter how this “Genevieve” wraps her betrayal into some silly rationalization, what she did is indecent.
HOW do you think this is going to be used by the right ? They are going to talk about it over and over, just for the pleasure of hurting him on a personal level, embarrassing him, and putting Michelle and the girls in an uncomfortable position.
Sometimes I’m so disgusted at the lack of basic decency in politics. It hurts not only my heart, but my soul.
Just another note: I’m conscious that the bulk of the letters are mostly about “thinking” and soul-searching and not about feelings between the two of them. I still think this is a despicable violation of privacy.
from the extract she comes from a rich family and so I suspect that money may not be something she badly needs. I think it is about her need to be part of the “Obama official history” and get her 15 minutes of fame
‘…from the extract she comes from a rich family and so I suspect that money may not be something she badly needs. I think it is about her need to be part of the “Obama official history” and get her 15 minutes of fame…’
Former diplomats are not necessarily rich…
And Genevieve like many a passed over woman, obviously has a desperate need to feel better about being rejected by a young detached Barack Obama who now publicly worships and adores his wife…by hinting at her sexual encounter with him…
Some women hope this type of public revelation detracts from or diminishes the sacred and special love, closeness and commitment that inspires public admiration of the couple…
Women like Genevieve also secretly feel the need to one-up the wife of the object of their unrequited love by reminding them that they have slept with their guy…
I found myself thinking that she should have held onto those and given them to a history at a much later date (maybe in her final will and testament with a caveat that he too would have gone to heaven) because they are a national treasure and would be a personal treasure if they were written to me. No way I would let people into my private life except when I dead and gone and I believe history needs to record this.
I guess I am very protective of PBO and I get the feeling that he is a very private person with a gate up where he prefers the public should not go
Barack and Michelle, undying love, true love, endless love, real love, once-in-a-lifetime,dream come true. They belong together-”Always and Forever, this moment with youuuuu, is just like a dream to me, that somehow came truuuuue, and I know tomorrow, will still be the same, ’cause they’ve got a life of loooovvvve, that won’t ever change and everydaayy, love me your own special way, melt all my heart awaayy, with smile. Take time to tell me yoouuuu really care and we’ll share tomorrow, togetherrr, I’ ll always love you, forever.” That is their love story and they are sticking with it. I love this beautiful couple.
Rock Center with Brian Williams is now on NCB. This looks at the dead of bin Laden with the President and members in the room at the time of the mission.
I found a bank book with 9000 Ja dollars that I left there in 2009. On my next trip I’m going to go “draw” my money. I see that you work at JLS. My late mom worked there too. Was the librarian at a country library. In fact I sent some books to Kingston in her memoory. The Presiden’ts two books were included. Hope people are reding them.
We get to hear all about it from the President! Yes!!!! He’s the only one I trust to tell the story, in addition to those he specifically trusts. Glad BriWi got to do this.
Not sure if everyone ever saw this interview that Barack & Michelle gave to a French mag in 1996. This quote stood out for me >> “Sometimes, when we’re lying together,” he says, “I look at her and I feel dizzy (BO on MO)http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2009/01/sacre-bleu-le-m/
Yes, it is riveting. After it is over, I think I will take another look at the 60 minutes interview that was done a year ago. PBO was terse, steely-eyed and completely badass.
thanks for the reminder of that CBS interview. I will be following your example and watching it again given the context of what I just learned from this NBC special
I remember when this picture was taken. It was after one of the debates had finished and the candidates were leaving the stage. And I distinctly remember seeing then Senator Obama looking around intently as if he was trying to find someone in particular. Eventually his search ended and his face lit up. He was looking for Michelle. I was blown away by the look on his face when he saw her. It was the look of love. They are such a beautiful couple. Made for each other.
All I can say is that I am just so happy to be alive to see this President in action because he is one of the most courageous leaders this Nation has ever had!
Amen Donna… We saw so much upheaval and turmoil all through the 60′s, lost too many promising leaders, as the darkness settled over America. Now we have Light. We have Hope. We must have known in our hearts, because there has always been a sense of change coming, of living in a better age, so we kept on,doing the best we could in our own lives, learning compassion. Now we truly have a leader who brings us all together, and so we ARE greater. We are many, willing to become One. W are blessed to be alive to witness these times!
I am just seething here. I can’t believe my laptop chose the moment I asked my desperate question to freeze for an extended period of time. Count to 10, VC…. x 10. Grrrh!
I’m waiting with bated breath! (Not that I would be brazen enough to nudge Chips or anything ). After getting the info that it was on the dreaded TV, I yelled to offspring who found it for me, only by then it was at the summary stage. Apparently I could see it in 2 hours if I watched it in some other time zone, but since I know Ms Chips will have it up before then, I passed on offspring’s kind offer.
PJ - Me, too. Loved the way she was slouched in her chair, so comfortable, being interviewed by Brian. Also loved the fact she couldn’t and didn’t tell Bill all about the exercise. Which I believe.
I was also very happy about Secretary Clinton’s input in this special. She has no motive of upstaging PBO at all in this and she seems to be a very good team player
I kinda like her a little bit. I figure since ethe President has forgiven her and moved on I can too. But her husband Bill..well, that’s another story.
CNN is airing PBO’s sister (Auma)’s interview with Piers Morgan right now while we’re watching NBC. Fortunately, CNN re-airs Piers Morgan at 12midnight ET. I set my DVR for that timeslot.
We are having terrible weather here and they keep interruping Brian Williams show with the President. Dmaned. Winds 60mi hr and large hail and flooding too. I may have to finish watching this sometime later when they have the repeat.
Hope everyone is watching PBO on Rock Center—-all the never before revealed details of that night—-as it unfolded minute by minute—-it’s a great program. PBO just described someone else as “a cool customer”—-I think that is a very accurate description of our president.
crap cnn is trying to compete w/brian. I would love to see PBO’s sis speak. I saw her on a German talk show once. Didn’t understand a thing she said, but loved listening to a black woman speaking German. She was very poised. a female version of PBO
All I can say is THANK GOD this mission was successful. THANK GOD! The alternative is unthinkable on soooo many levels. Mercy. We have the right man in the Oval Office.
WHY, WHY am I crying so uncontrollably as I watch PBO and his Team (American’s Team) recall the mission to get OBL! I was weeping so hard I could not type a word !!!!!
The most chilling part for me was hearing the throng of people outside of the White House cheering “USA” after our President’s firm leadership and the actions of the SEALs that night. Love those moments, few and far between, when we the people all come together.
I too loved that part. I was surprised to see how deeply moved PBO, Sec Clinton and other seemed to be taken aback and yet overwhelmed by the spontanous reaction of the people outside the White House shouting USA! USA! USA!
I loved the various degrees of emotion they showed in tonight’s special (and that night) about the incident. Probably the night of the President’s announcement to the nation was so intense in the situation room that they lost track of the “outside world,” even just outside the White House gates. The only thing I wondered about was why hadn’t somebody inside the White House mentioned to them that the throngs were outside, before they actually heard the chants? Maybe the group was just not available so somebody could hand them a note! That was certainly a night to remember, in any event.
No, no, not blessed with any daughters! Just acknowledging the ‘mother’ in you though I don’t believe you’ve yet started on that path. I have this ‘thing’ about word usage, and I really, really liked the tone of your comment, is all.
Audrey, good for you for coming online and sharing your love of the president with all of us. We, too love him and his wonderful dog. You are a very smart young woman and the president is lucky to have you on his side.
yeah I can see where that would be among his most prized possessions of his time in office. They probably wouldn’t be able to put it in his presidential library tho as that would expose the ops team members.
Ha, it just occurred to me, who ever our future presidents may be, he will be the only to lay claim to that flag. Get a whiff of THAT RWNJs **laughs my evil laugh**
Heeellllloooo TODsters!!!! Watching this very intriguing show on the PBO & co.,SEALS, OBL and all the rest that wentinto that mission. Brain Williams did a great job and remained the narrator, and not a part of the story. KUDOS for a job well done. btw, that look on PBO at the beginning of the thread is one that we sometimes with others. Y’all can look, but don’t even think you can touch.
I can tell you that I will be watching this presentation by Brian Williams over and over and over. I am simply over whelmed by the details of evry thing said and recalled by those who were there
I was thinking the same, gcl. I would like to have a DVD of this. To watch over and over again. And maybe a second DVD to share with others (I don’t think I’d want to let go of one of my own!!).
Hey Pickle, I didn’t think there were others who used this sharing tactic! if something really appeals to me and I want to share I like to get two copies - one for me and one for sharing. I lost many favourite books before I smartened up. Do networks normally make DVDs of good stuff like this, or are you all just dreaming?
I love the way President Obama is able to respond to the most difficult and touchy questions and subjects—-in awe, in fact—-always able to phrase everything in The Best Way Possible—-such as describing his reaction to the new photo of a dead bin Laden—-and his phone call to W. I am just overjoyed with the quality and the qualities of this man.
I wonder if the folks at FAUX vote? Lawry just showed the clip of Shep reading Willard’s statement about Leroy ending his campaign. I would think they were too jaded to actually go out and vote.
Yup. Looks like he’s on a starvation diet. Also looks like he hasn’t slept a day since he started working for FAUX…….. That’s what happens when you sell your soul…. He looks like the portrait of Dorian Gray, hanging in the attic. Wonder where the living, breathing Shep is given the fact that his portrait is sitting in my tv, spinning for Faux.
Thank you, DD4O, and 57andfemale, I will check, and I hope I can stay awake that long! Maybe if I get into my jammies and get all ready…. {{{{{{{{{{{:lol:}}}}}}}}}}}
My only problem with the Brian Williams broadcast is that it intimated that PBO’s killing of Bin Laden was a continuation of Bush’s efforts. It wasn’t mentioned that Bush had given up on getting Bin Laden and that President Obama ordered the CIA to renew the hunt for him. Of course, saying this would have made the broadcast seem biased, but reality tends to have a Democratic bias these days. Also, there was no need to say anything nice about Bush. He screwed up the hunt for Bin Laden as he screwed up just about everything else he touched.
Otherwise, it was a very inspiring broadcast. Very proud of the president, the national security staff, and the courageous special operators.
Agree with you on the Bush part. They could have floated on by that a bit, but we also know how magnanimous PBO is, and he will always put his best face forward. Actually, I think it’s the only face he has. And what a gorgeous one it is. OT, I know !
“I did choose the risk,” the president said in an exclusive interview with Rock Center Anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams. “The reason I was willing to make that decision of sending in our SEALs to try to capture or kill bin Laden rather than to take some other options was ultimately because I had 100 percent faith in the Navy SEALs themselves.”
I agree. Throw them a bone, let them feel good. We know the truth and they know that we know the truth. Let them gnaw on that bone keep them quiet foer a while. Other than that Brian Williams did a good job. Showed respect, was not condescending.
Where would we as a country be if this wonderful man were not the president these past three years! I shudder to think! We are SO fortunate.
Welcome Audrey who is nine. I have a wonderful grandson who is ten. He is very smart, like you, and I absolutely adore him. I also have a grandson who is five, almost six, and I also absolutely adore him. You have a wonderful life ahead of you!
Watching President Obama describe how he evaluated all the information and made his decision, I thought of Reagan and George W. Bush and what a contrast they make. They let other people make the decisions, were too lazy or unintelligent to do it themselves, or just didn’t think things through.
It made me think of the Bay of Pigs and how Kennedy had his brother. Remember that iconic photo of them sitting across from each other, they were leaning into each other and their heads almost touched. Kennedy had a trusted bro, confidant and AG.
PBO had to make this decision all by him self. And if things went wrong, he would’ve borne the brunt of the fall out.
Yes. That reminds me of what Robert Gates said. He’s worked in DC for 3 decades with all those presidents and seen them make decisions, but says this decision by this president was the most gutsy. I heard an interview with him a year or so ago. He gave a long list of attributes of this president that he so admires and respects. I remember the ones he stressed the most were his thoroughness and thoughtfulness in making any decision and how he doesn’t want or take the credit for things…..it’s always the group/team.
My grandson is almost 11. Last night, he found the program that was done about the getting of OBL…..can’t remember the exact name. My daughter said he was fascinated…..watched the entire thing. She DVR’d the one tonight so he can watch it.
Encore presentation of Brian Williams’ hour-long special tomorrow night at 8:00! I’m not sure whether it will be NBC or MSNBC (announcement on MSNBC) - and not sure the time zone.
And if you read that article that aamom posted above, the one in the French magazine, one can see the continuity in a Barack Obama. He is the same today as he was all those years ago. The man is one for the record books. Just amazing.
This was in reply to Elly in Maryland. Also, if we are embracing a 9 year old, don’t you all think we’d better watch our “naughtyness”? Oh heck, what fun would we have? Oh Audrey, please close your ears when reading some comments here. We don’t want to ruin you, precious one
It might be a little late, ladies, as AOK may have been checking you(us) out before deciding we are safe enough for a kid to join up with! I hope so, AOK, cause then you will already know how much love and joy, peace and respect there is in this blog, and this naughty business is only innocent fun! We just love our Preezy to beezy
Seriously don’t like the fact that people are picking on Mrs. Money’s clothes are on trial. Leave the damned wove out of it! She’s a wealthy woman, let her wear whatever the heck she wants. Just attack her hubby. Dummies!…….ugh, Meg McSame is on talking bout Miche’s $450 tennis shoes.
Ugh spell check:
Wife. Leave the wife out of it. Don’t attack her or pick on her publicly. Don’t they realize the repukes can do the same to Miche? That stupid Spain trip is still making the rounds.
I agree that Ms. Ann’s clothes should not factor in our discussion about how fit Willard is for President.
But it was actually the Repubs who started attacking both the President AND FLOTUS for things unrelated to policy. E.g., Mrs. Obama’s trip to Spain, and their vacations in Hawaii. Now the shoe is on the other foot, they don’t like it.
And Lawrence decided to have Megan McCain of all people on to talk about this tshirt. The privileged child who is the daughter of someone with 7 homes. Couldn’t he have chosen someone else?
All, and I mean “all” of these talking heads are in love with each other. There is no loyalty to a cause. They play us constantly. Good for them when they make sense, but we needn’t high five any of them. Except for Rev Al and maybe Martin, IMO. Nite TOD.
I wish Democrats would just keep that botoxed hag’s name out of their mouths. Any mention of Ann Romney is a complete and utter distraction. Ignore her. I don’t care is she shows up in a 35,000 dollar blouse to feed homeless kids. Ignore her.
I don’t care what she wears, or how much it costs, but I gotta say, that was the UGLIEST blouse I have ever seen. I hope it’s OK if we question her taste???
Admiral McRaven, head of Special Forces< who was involved in the operation from Afghanistan stated the following about his dealings with President Obama on this:
" [President Obama] was really everything the American public would expect from their national leadership. I would contend he was the smartest guy in the room. He had leadership skills we'd expect from a guy who had 35 years in the military."
Something to quote to the GOPers (leadership even) who are trying to make out that he has not lead.
I saw that quote at the time, and I’m glad you brought it here as a reminder. Now, that’s respect for his Commander in Chief - plus he means it or he never would have phrased it that way.
Jon Stewart is spending his whole program bashing Bashir and LO”D and msnbc—-for daring to mention Mormonism and some of the tenants of that faith. Out of all the deserving targets in our political sphere, all the garbage that has been thrown at Obama by so many on the right, Stewart chooses to devote his program mocking and downgrading 2 of the measly few hosts who support President Obama.
And then he has Tom Coburn on!! Last night it was that nutty far-right Christian historical-revisionist. Just not enjoying the Daily Show much anymore. Am turning back to reruns of MSNBC nightly shows.
Chips, LOVE your piece at the top of this post. AWESOME. I remember very clearly that debate with McCrabby McCain when the photo was taken and the way he looked at Michelle, searching for his anchor. That is a rare expression of deep love. WOOOTTTT.
not yet. I was watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMLywNlwXz0 It’s the Brit version of what NBC did on the OBL mission. It’s rather long, though.
I agree. The president is not running again, so he can start building his legacy by getting our long term deficit under control. Although, if a republican takes over after him then it might all be for naught.
There’s an article from Politico about the literary world’s response to PBO’s critique of Elliot, Yeats and “The Wasteland”—— apparently, they loved it and we’re thoroughly impressed, save for one right winger who said it showed he was a radical extremist. So, overall, it’s three pages of glowing amazement from poetry experts:
I still disagree with what she did. I think it’s wrong. PBO protected her privacy, she should have respected their relationship enough to not sell these important artifacts of what they once had. I already knew PBO was smart, I didn’t need her to sell him out to recognize the “depth and expanse of his knowledge.” That being said, it’s good that certain people are realizing PBO isn’t a bullshitter.
I totally agree with both of you. It is no way that I would have sold my soul after being involved with a special person like this. Some things are not for sale.
OH, COOL. Thank you, lisa. This is the part that interests me. The other stuff is just, oh wow!! PBO had a college girlfriend!!…..and it’s supposed to be a big deal.
Letterman: "Mitt says to go to college 'borrow from your parents or do like I did and borrow from your secret Swiss bank account.' "— Roger Simon (@politicoroger) May 03, 2025
I can’t stand Eliot Spitzer. Once again he is crying that President Obama should sign an Executive Order for a gay rights issue rather than waiting for Congress to pass a law. President Obama understood that EO’s can be overturned by the next President and that was why it was important for Congress to end DADT. But Spitzer is calling PBO weak and playing politics. What is Eliot anyway. He’s not a Dem, is he?
What’s weak is a married man who can’t keep his dick in his pants. Idiot. STFU, beeyotch!!! -TOD Post .@EliotSpitzer— Lunar Sea (@lunar_sea) May 3, 2025
I do not know if the lady who chose to let the media into her life as an ex-girlfriend of the young PBO has ANY idea of how she has unleashed the jackals in the MSM during a campaign season where they are looking for any dirt on him.
.
already her photos are already coming up on every where on google although my search terms were for information about the author of the book that VF is promoting.
I can predict that she may live to regret her actions of talking to the jackals
She sold the story. But here’s the thing. It really makes her look bad. There’s nothing that happened that PBO didn’t talk about or refer to in his books. She looks like a sad old woman pining over and old boyfriend. Meanwhile, not only did he treat her well, he also didn’t invade her privacy in his writings. So, she clearly in searching for $$, fame, etc. She knew, even then, that it wasn’t a long-term lasting relationship.
Here’s a classic jazz song that came to mind for me: Just one of those things… I’ll post Nat, then Ella.
Both excellent artists who do the song in very different yet exciting styles!!
Why is Piers always talking bout PBO. It’s like he can’t get the real thing so he latches on to anyone close to him in this stalkerist kind out way. He’s like leeching off of them and deriving third hand pleasure from it.
Woah….PBO hails from an intellectually gifted family. His sister Auma Obama, went to college in Germany, speaks German and is so full of depth and wisdom. It’s in the freaking genes!
He also wrote a book about their father. He said that PBO may learn a lot about him in it. One day I’ll find and read it. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name nor the title of the book
Don’t forget that his father actually came to America on a scholarship to University and also later on went to Harvard like him.
When these Repubs and people like Donald Trump talk about what sort of grades he got while at Harvard, and also when they insinuate that he only got there because of affirmative action, someone should remind them that pretty much everyone on the black side of his family (the side they all think doesn’t have the “ability”) are intellectually gifted.
Amen. He’s sick. He should be engaging in something a little more redemptive. Selling your soul to the folks who ravaged you when they caught you with your pants down isn’t very smart. Ugly freak.
Well, that explanation - plus the Peter Principle (being promoted well beyond his level of ability - in this case, to host this show). And that’s all I’ll say about that last one.
Poet, Philosopher, Author, Statesman, Baller, Shot Caller. After reading the Vanity Fare article, President Obama is for all intents and purposes the smartest person in the room at any given time. The coming debates might prove brutal for Mitt Romney simply because I don’t think Romney has ever gone below the surface and figured out who or what he is.
At this point, look out for Mrs. ex G-Friend to make a surprise appearance on his show. Oh the questions we can look forward to him asking. Piers Morgan, Rated R. can’t stand him.
Me, too. In fact, I just started watching my recording, saw the President’s lovely sister, remembered your comments, and flipped the channel. Maybe I’ll find a written transcript of what she said. I couldn’t get through his awful snarkiness - even on the first couple of questions. Not going to do that to myself.
lisa - thanks for the encouragement, because I just finished watching PBO’s sister and she was just great. In this case, HE’s the one who should feel proud! Goodnight.
And to cap it all off, Piers asks the inevitable birther question: ” was he born” in another country?
Ps- Piers’ stupidity didn’t detract from how awesome Auma is. What a committed and honorable woman she is.
He can be an ass (most of the times) but at least he’s willing to have on PBO’s sister, and let us get to know her - and him, through her eyes - which is always a great thing because we get to learn more about him from another perspective.
” Take it easy on Piers”——- thanks but no thanks. That creep can go suck it. There is no intrinsic good in his interviewing Auma. He’s a creep who is aching to get close to PBO and if he has to give 20 minutes of his show per family member to shore up credit with PBO so that PBO remembers him for possible future interviews, he’ll stand on his head to do it. He’s a ridiculous. But thanks for the advice, though.
>>>>”There is no intrinsic good in his interviewing Auma. ”
You mean, other than Auma?
Surely that’s something good other than that.
How many other forums and opportunities do you get to hear from Obama’s extended family and stories of his past like that?
NOt to give Piers any credit (especially for the questions) but he DID give her an interview unlike other primetime shows, and for the most part he was respectful with her and towards Obama.
Say what you will about him or his past or his ties to Murdoch, but at the very least he does exhibit some level of respect for the person of the president and even his achievements.
It really doesn’t do you any good espousing so much loathing and hatred for another human being, even if they are
Repub, or Conservative.
Otherwise you’re no better than them and their unbridled hatred for the president which as we all know is based on you-know-what.
At first, I wasn’t going to respond to you, but then I thought better of it, because, well, I’m not one to let an insult go and turn the other cheek. There was nothing intrinsically good in his interviewing The President of The United State’s sister. He didn’t do it because he heard her story and was fascinated by her, he did it because she is his sister. I don’t give Piers any credit, and I certainly don’t don’t respect him. The fact that you feel that you’re lofty enough to ‘dress me down’ because you are such a superlative human being who doesn’t “espouse loathing and hatred” —-two words that mean the same thing by the way, and because I’m obviously no better than the right wing who hates PBO, is in fact quite laughable. How long have you been creeping around in the shadows, waiting to deliver those lines? Obviously not long enough. You should have bided your time some more and come up with a better response to make me feel bad about anything I’ve said, including about that ass, Piers Morgan. Nice try, though, CBO. Nice try. :smirk:
For someone who has the word “loves” in their name, you certainly do miss the entire point of the concept when it comes to other human beings.
-I wasn’t trying to dress you down. Merely giving you advice on having less hatred for other human beings.
-I didn’t say you are no better than Right Wingers who hate PBO.
I said irrationally hating a person like Piers would make you no better than them in this regard when they do so based on his skin ccolor and his history, and I stand by that.
- That you’re reduced to giving me vocabulary advice (thanks by the way, next time I’ll remember to have my Thesaurus open, so as not to offend you with my “lofty” ways) says a lot about the substance of your argument (or lack thereof).
You might as well have spell-checked me.
-I wasn’t trying to make you feel bad, but if it’s important for you to take it that way then I can’t really help you in that regard.
I’m glad I was able to hear from Auma and hear her perspective on her brother, irregardless of the fact that it was on Piers show and irregardless of what he’s true motivations may have been.
At least I can say that I was able to focus on that positive part of her interview rather than on hating on Piers which seems pointless to me, and rather counter to what Obama himself stands for.
And I’m also glad to say that at least I’m a big enough person to be able to give other human beings credit for being respectful towards the president and his family like Piers was in this interview irregardless of any misgivings I may have about his other stances towards the president at other times.
It is possible to walk and chew gum at the same time and to hold to seemingly conflicting thoughts in one’s head.
If you choose to take that as an insult or a slam against you, then that’s your problem and yours alone.
You seem to have a lot of angst in your life that makes you think you have to be prickly and abrasive towards other people and I want no part of that.
I gave you advice; you rejected it and proceeded to mock me or try to.
Clearly we’re never going to agree on this.
I see you are back for more. I would have thought my response was enough. Apparently not. I love how you protest too much….. really stop it. You aren’t helping yourself. If you had just respectfully disagreed, this whole thing wouldn’t have been a problem. Obviously you are forgetting that this is the internet, therefore there is a trail. You call this-” It really doesn’t do you any good espousing so much loathing and hatred for another human being, even if they are Repub, or Conservative. Otherwise you’re no better than them and their unbridled hatred for the president which as we all know is based on you-know-what.” —advice? Honey, take my advice and keep it to yourself.
I always try to maintaining the peace and even when others deserve it, I hold back on the venom (I think that’s the word you’ve been searching for) and out of respect for this space, I typically ignore it or go for mild reproof. My response earlier this morning was an example of the latter. You are totally right, we will never agree on the fact that Piers Morgan is an absolute ass who is a Murdoch stooge. Stating that I possibly have a lot of angst in my life (good for you), doesn’t really help your cause either. What exactly do you think it says about you that you’re all hot under the collar when I make a valid statement about Piers Morgan? Are your Piers Morgan? Are you his publicist? His mama? what? My opinion is that he’s an ass, yours is that he’s a gift. There’s no need to to make it personal. He’s a pubic figure and we’re both entitled to our own opinions about him and his credibility.
Hint of advice- since you’re so big on it- engage me in substantive arguments, leave out the insults. it doesn’t suit you and you aren’t very good at it. While I don’t claim to be angsty, nor do I believe that I have more problems than anyone else, I do claim to be a major, Grade A bitch and I’m damned good at it. Don’t sink to my level. It doesn’t look good on you and it doesn’t work. But thanks for the work-out. It’s a very difficult road to thread between bitchiness and diplomacy and I do believe I’ve pulled it off quite well.
>>>>”Apparently not. I love how you protest too much….. really stop it….If you had just respectfully disagreed, this whole thing wouldn’t have been a problem.”
- Protesting what?
AndI was pretty certain that I had stopped it and had respectfully disagreed (or at least offered as per the third to last line of that last post) but evidently you don’t seem to know what the expression “respectfully disagree” means..
>>>>” I always try to maintaining the peace and even when others deserve it,”
- I think you meant to say “…try to maintain the peace even when others DON’T deserve it.”, but who am I with my poor English to know, right? Besides which, correcting other people’s grammar and vocabulary online even when you understand what they meant to says such a low-level form of argumentation, so let’s not
Also, if this is what it’s like when you’re “trying to maintain the peace”, then I ‘d hate to know what it’s like when you’re trying to start a fight.
>>>>”I hold back on the venom (I think that’s the word you’ve been searching for)”
- No, that’s not the word I was searching for - but once again, thanks with the completely unnecessary and completely pointless vocabulary lessons.
>>>>”What exactly do you think it says about you that you’re all hot under the collar when I make a valid statement about Piers Morgan?”
- Compare my responses to yours and tell me who seems “hot under the collar”.
In any case, my disagreement simply means that I am capable of seeing people in more than one-light and as more than card-board caricatures and black-and-white simplistic good-or-bad persons.
Unlike some.
>>>>”Are your Piers Morgan? Are you his publicist? His mama? what? My opinion is that he’s an ass, yours is that he’s a gift.”
- The answer to all those questions is a no. Obviously.
And it’s not my opinion that he’s a gift.
It’s my opinion that while he can tend to be an obnoxious individual with questionable ties to despicable people, he is capable of doing the odd thing such as respecting the president (even when others do not) and extending that same respect too relatives and friends and supporters of the president and even having them on his show - which is what I appreciate.
Naturally you take that to mean that I like him without reservations, which doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Since you brought up the issue of who I am, I’m going to break a personal rule of never revealing any information about myself online, just to let you know what a gigantic ass you’re making of yourself, right now.
No I’m not Piers’, nor his mom, or agent.
What I am is a Kenyan - born and raised - and not just that but also from the same ethnic group or tribe as Obama’s father came from - the Luo - and consequently from the same part of the country in Western Kenya.
In fact my maternal grandparents came from the same sub-clan group and lived in the same are as his living step-grandmother currently lives before they both passed.
So you can imagine my personal pride in Obama goes beyond just the 8 years that most people here have known him.
Furthermore, myself, along with 30 or so odd million Kenyans have had to watch the last 5 years with a mixture of pride in Obama and dismay in the general discourse of American politics as the word ‘Kenyan’ was turned into an ugly word and as the Republicans tried to turn his connection to Africa and specifically to Kenya into a despicable thing.
So imagine my surprise upon coming to a place where I had hoped to find Democrats or Liberals with a more fair-minded perspective and tolerant view and hopefully more mature perspective embodying the same sort of positive and let-live attitude that our president exhibits only to find you.
But please do go ahead and keep making fun of me, someone you know nothing of, and have to respect for.
It comes so easy for people for whom the world is simply black and white within greys.
>>>>”There’s no need to to make it personal.”
- You mean like asking me if I’m Piers (whom you hate) or his agent or mother?
That kind of personal?
Or did you mean another kind?
>>>>”Hint of advice- since you’re so big on it- engage me in substantive arguments,
- Sure and when do you plan to start?
With the substantive arguments bit, I mean.
>>>>”…. leave out the insults.”
- I’m not really sure you can tell the difference between the 2 (insults and substantive arguments)
>>>>”it doesn’t suit you and you aren’t very good at it.”
- It’s not something I’m aspiring to, so we can all rest easy on that front.
>>>>”While I don’t claim to be angsty, nor do I believe that I have more problems than anyone else, I do claim to be a major, Grade A bitch and I’m damned good at it.”
- No arguments from me on that score.
But nonetheless, congratulations (clap clap clap) on your great achievement of being the Grade A bitch you so aspire to be and being so good at it.
>>>>” It doesn’t look good on you and it doesn’t work.”
- Again, I agree on both accounts.
It doesn’t look good (on anyone, frankly) and mostly doesn’t work.
Other than making the person doing it seem terribly immature and childish, that is.
But what do I know?
I’m not the expert.
>>>>”But thanks for the work-out.”
- If that’s what you were seeking then I’m glad for you that you got it.
Ecstatic.
>>>>” It’s a very difficult road to thread between bitchiness and diplomacy and I do believe I’ve pulled it off quite well.”
- I love the fact that that’s an achievement you think is worth being proud of at any level, even though I’m not really sure what it is you think you achieved since you don’t seem like someone who would know what diplomacy is if it smacked you in the head.
Certainly not on the evidence of anything you wrote on here or were trying to argue.
But Congratulations nonetheless…..on pulling…off…whatever it is you think you pulled off.
Don’t bother responding with a long diatribe of Heaven knows what other achievement in bitchiness you want to boast about. I’m done with this line of argument and won’t waste time reading it.
I relayed what I wanted to say, and now that I’m fully aware of the level of maturity I’m dealing with here, I’m saddened that I’ve already expended as much time and effort as I have and will rectify it by actually moving on this time.
Good luck with your future endeavours and battles and ‘work-outs’,, as the case may be.
Obviously this isn’t going to end until I take the high road. I didn’t bother to read your response, well, because it’s likely crap and because I finished this conversation hours ago. But since you feel you must defend Piers to the very end, this is me taking the high road…………………………
Pier Morgan is a despicable tabloid journalist from UK. Who managing editor for the same mag run by the Murdoch clan inEngland that’s on trial now. In fact there is some talk that Piers may have also been a part of the hacking scandal, but got out before the real shut hit the fans. He know Rupert Murdoch and was personally hired by him to run the crappiest of tabloids. Look up Piers Morgan & Madonna. Piers Morgan is scum & there is no reason to “go easy on him” plz learn something.
I don’t need to learn anything.
I said what I said and I meant it.
I know who Piers is and what his past connections are, but I’m also capable of accepting and appreciating the fact taht even people whom we deem to be “despicable” are capable of doing the odd good thing now and then.
Having Auma - Obama’s elder half-sister - on his show, and treating her with respect while allowing her a forum to not only speak proudly of her brother while giving some exposure to the charitable organizations she stands for, counts as a good thing in my book - and one that I’m willing to acknowledge, appreciate and applaud.
If you don’t like the fact that I did it , then tough.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa
Hhahahahjahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha!!!! —- Piers ^ickhead is gonna have W aka Shrub on his shoe tomorrow. What an asshat.
oooh, a great excuse to post this!!! The last time Pres G.W. Bush was in Iraq!! What a difference a term makes!! Don’t worry, NO TRANSLATION IS NEEDED!!
I think I remember the setting, so I don’t need to click on that video. I could not care less about the actual target, but what an embarrassment to the office of the presidency.
I remember that all too well. I was so embarrassed to think what the presidency (and by extension others’ vision of America) had become.
But here’s the rub, and don’t get mad, but as much as I hated Bush, I was upset that he didn’t have better protection. He was still our president (albeit more like a reviled and embarrassing relative) my reaction was a gasp and a ‘oh no he didn’t’ at the shoe thrower, regardless of how undeserving of the title Bush was.
I really bought into the ‘once the President leaves our shores we put our differences aside and stand as one’ that has disappeared from today’s GOP lexicon.
Which is why I will never understand those who hate PBO for changing that image around the world.
LunarSea, I was pissed that the protection for POTUS (any POTUS, yes that includes Pres. Bush) wasn’t better. I mean, dude had a chance to throw TWO shoes!!
I also have to admit, I was also pretty impressed that Dubya moved as quickly as he did. He was in pretty good physical shape to move out of the way as fast as he did.
Romney got out of his car, saw Bin Laden strapped to the roof and screamed for Pres. Obama to come and save him…..— Tim (@SupermanHotMale) May 03, 2025
I thought you were on the west coast. You must be a night owl who likes to stay up late because sometimes you are one of last ones on here at night/early morning.
Yes, another poster here from the West Coast. I saw the Situation Room special. What came through is what a mature, decisive man we have as president. And he is clearly respected by those who work with him on the national security team. PBO has tremendous interior grounding that allows him to move through all the situations and enormous responsibilities of the presidency with equanimity and wisdom.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE…TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY…GOING TO TAKE A MOMMY WHO FOSTERS SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN OUT FOR A DAY OF ‘SPOILING’ IN BROWN COUNTY. WILL BE SUCH FUN TO WATCH HER HAVE A GREAT GET AWAY!…BLESSINGS ALL. GOD BLESS MY PRESIDENT…HAVE A BEAUTIFUL THURSDAY!
Sue, your generous heart is an inspiration to all of us. Can’t tell you how much I admire you. Have a wonderful day and I hope you mom has a terrific time!
I’m not sure why there is animosity toward one woman in the Vanity Fair article and not the other (I don’t think there should be name calling of these women at all). There were two. The one, Alex, provided the President’s letters to her and the other, Genevieve, excerpts from her own diary. I do agree that in a previous age that these insights would have been provided on their deathbeds for posterity or old age. I found the article fascinating. I’m glad that the historian has decided to wait to do his history of the President’s run for and job as President. That’s why I never bought the ‘Year One’ or ‘Year Two’ books about the President’s term. Too soon to provide the detached historical perspective I think a true history requires.
I can’t help thinking ……..Why the TWO women did this now? Why now? Four years ago they could have sold their souls to Vanity Fair and be done with it. Why now? One we know who comes from a rich family does and does not need the money, so what is her purpose? The other we do not know about her family heritage so we can assume it was for both money and fame.
I can’t help thinking…..Why this bothers me so much that I had to express my opinion(which I am entitled to) here on this blog. And the one thing is that I prayed, God this cannot be a woman’s scorn bs…after all these years. What is the motive behind all of this? If either of these women really loved this young man like they claimed, 1. They would have kept this and taken these tender moments to their graves. 2. Mailed all the letters and diaries to the President and let him dispose or do whatever he felt was right by them.
I can’t help thinking…..How the girls would feel knowing this at this tender age of puberty and teenage. Why now maybe Michelle probably would ask while they are coming into full swing campaign mode.
So I concluded jealousy, envy, feeling left out, I missed my chance, could have been me, what if, why not me, etc.
And as intelligent as they want us to believe they were, and I am sure they are but selling those private moments to a magazine, any magazine makes them seem very sad women, weak women, cannot let go of the past women. The key word here is ex- girlfriend. They were not meant to be in this man’s destiny. So be grateful that he shared a part of him, his thoughts, his kindness and generosity with you and close that chapter of your lives. And if that is still difficult to do, replay the dance of the Inauguration with his wife Michelle the song said it all……AT LAST!
Oh, and love has no color, Ms. Cook. Your prophecy meant nothing because you sold your soul for money you do not need. and if you think for one moment that I think you beleve you have the gift of prophesy, I refer you to Scripture 1Corinthians 13. That is what love is. All the excuses and reasons that you will conjure in your intelligent mind means nothing if you do not have class and back it up with love.
And by the way, you can throw away his sweater…..it is over!. I am sure Mich got rid of yours years go. Bo probably has it in his quarters.
See, you did make it to the WH after all.
They were asked by the author, David Maraniss, who has been working on an encyclopedic biography of PBO since he was elected, maybe even before. Now, they did not have to cooperate but to answer your question why now it’s because the book will be released soon.
I understand. But they could have declined.
Am I wrong in thinking that a biography is after your body has transitioned from physical to spirit? There are more chapters to come. Isn’t there?
Anyway, I would rather read it from POB. A man who is not ashame to admit that he prays often. It is evident that he practice what he prays.
But thank you for the information.
a match made in heaven.
that we get to see here on Earth! Thank You God!
Michelle.
This isn’t even open for debate!
Most definitely. Sums her up to a T.
Awesome Chips. They are such a great couple. They make us proud in the USA.
I also loved that quote when I read the article.
When something is destined to be you can not stop it - Barack and Michelle were meant to find each other and to be together.
As long as its positive I honestly don’t mind. I’m curious myself.
this very quote stood out for me in that article and I read it multiple times
Who said that about POTUS? (Hi Chipsticks and everyone! I’ve been lurking with no time to comment as work has been insanely busy.)
President Obama’s former girlfriend from New York - Genevieve (can not remember the spelling).
Oh thanks. I missed all that. I get Vanity Fair but this must be an advance release as it hasn’t arrived in my mailbox yet.
it is a great read! please do not miss it
forus50, the article is Online only.
I hope Michelle accompanies him to the debates in the fall. I loved watching the primary in general debates just to see what she was going to wear.
He found exactly what he was hoping for!
So in love. WOW!!! When he looks at her, when she looks at him, THERE IS NO ONE ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE. So cool…
Yea, that was some amazing insight by that girl. Doesn’t change the fact that she’s a real bitch to sell her diary with his private letters.
THISSSSSSSSSSSSS
I really love you BWD.
Everybody wants to get paid. Right?
yes everybody wants to get paid but some things are priceless - to quote another well-worn saying
doesn’t change the fact that some will do anything for a few bucks or to be on tv.
from the extract she comes from a rich family and so I suspect that money may not be something she badly needs. I think it is about her need to be part of the “Obama official history” and get her 15 minutes of fame
Whatever. I just wonder why at this time?
I guess I am very protective of PBO and I get the feeling that he is a very private person with a gate up where he prefers the public should not go
…my first thought when I read some of the article…I stopped reading after a few entires.
me too.
Heads Up! Brian Williams Rock Center Interview with the President coming on at 9:00 EST
Kochbrothersexposed.com . . . check it out. Mr. Greenwald was on the Ed show tonight. Very interesting!
The Greenwald who worked for the Kochs’ CATO Institute?!?!
No:) This one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Greenwald
Ah, sorry, okay - thanks Desertflower.
Robert Greenwald — he’s a good guy. Not Glenn Greenwald, who is Satan incarnate.
True.
Rock Center with Brian Williams is now on NCB. This looks at the dead of bin Laden with the President and members in the room at the time of the mission.
Sorry… its NBC.
NCB is yoiur bank Suzette?
True - National Commercial Bank!!
Watching The Situation Room special on NBC!
This quote from the ex-girlfriend is…..interesting. I always wondered if some ex-girlfriend would sell out. Haven’t read the article yet…..
OMG. . . that smile at the WHCD last year just turns my heart upside down! Can you imagine what you going thru his mind? Gives me chills!
We get to hear all about it from the President! Yes!!!! He’s the only one I trust to tell the story, in addition to those he specifically trusts. Glad BriWi got to do this.
I’m watching NBC now - it’s riveting!
Awww….geee
I saw it during the primary and after the election and I always read it with a kind of wonderment at PBO’s ability to put it so succintly!
A True Love Story:
Look at them. So Cute.
What a President. . . What more can I say!
The bin Laden special is excellent.
All you TOD’ers watching the Rock Center piece, don’t give us Pacific time people all the info….want to be surprised when I watch
DD4O can you direct me to the site with the interview with PBO. I had forgotten, and can’t seem to find it on msnbc once I saw the reminder.
Its on NBC (Network News Station) not on cable. I’m sure the video will be available later tonight.
PBO is like a cheshire cat in this interview when talking about last year’s WHC Dinner. Good stuff.
.
Oh, is that who that handsome leader of the free world is doing most of the talking? Yes, I’m enjoying his attitude, that night and this night.
uh … *who is doing most of the talking* … got a little carried away there
Hillary Clinton has become so delightful to me. Never would have thunk it.
WHERE are you viewing this, PJ?
It’s being televised on NBC. I don’t know if they’re carrying it online.
Brian Williams “Rock Center” on NBC.
THANK YOU ALL!
I am just seething here. I can’t believe my laptop chose the moment I asked my desperate question to freeze for an extended period of time. Count to 10, VC…. x 10. Grrrh!
You will probably be able to find a clip online shortly — either at NBC/MSNBC.com or YouTube….or right here
.
I’m waiting with bated breath! (Not that I would be brazen enough to nudge Chips or anything
They just said that it will re-run on MSNBC tomorrow night….
Same time as tonight?
Are they taking over the Lawrence O’Donnel slot?
PJ - Me, too. Loved the way she was slouched in her chair, so comfortable, being interviewed by Brian. Also loved the fact she couldn’t and didn’t tell Bill all about the exercise. Which I believe.
Yes, she was so open and at ease. Very nice.
I was also very happy about Secretary Clinton’s input in this special. She has no motive of upstaging PBO at all in this and she seems to be a very good team player
thunk???????
Just another way of saying the word think when something is unbelievable. It’s an American way. So it’s not in the dictionary.
Take care of yourself, Roberta. Good luck!
Yeah, hope you’re watching the nature show from a safe vantage point. Take care.
Hi Roberta in MN, I hope things calm down I see the temps are supposed to get up to the 80′s tomorrow. Hot and muggy I suppose.
cisse blues.
go jose.
all i have to say to our west coast TODers is DON’T MISS IT!
Hope everyone is watching PBO on Rock Center—-all the never before revealed details of that night—-as it unfolded minute by minute—-it’s a great program. PBO just described someone else as “a cool customer”—-I think that is a very accurate description of our president.
hey! hey! PBO described Gen McRaven as a “Cool Customer” and I just laughed out loud
Repug heads are exploding all over the country.
Yes I just a huge boom. That was Mankini’s ugly head…
crap cnn is trying to compete w/brian. I would love to see PBO’s sis speak. I saw her on a German talk show once. Didn’t understand a thing she said, but loved listening to a black woman speaking German. She was very poised. a female version of PBO
CNN will re-air Piers Morgan at 12Midnight ET.
Gonna set my DVR.
I thought it was suppose to come on at 10 est.
Just saw the “Swiss Bank Account” ad on t.v. (NBC) —- woot!
#RockCenter is now trending on Twitter!
It should be this thing is riveting.
All I can say is THANK GOD this mission was successful. THANK GOD! The alternative is unthinkable on soooo many levels. Mercy. We have the right man in the Oval Office.
Nothing.But.The.Truth!!!
my thoughts exxactly!
LOL@ Joe and his rosary! Gotta ♥ Joe!
I have had one of those rosaries in the past but I will never look at it the same way without thinking of Joe
I am not religious, but I do meditate and even pray. Those rosaries are attractive to me, lol.
He is also the person who in essence said that if you mess with us “we will follow yountomthe gates of hell.”. I just love our Joey.
That’s our Joey!
We the people should come together more often .. in public, in throngs, in support!
Totally agree, daisydem!
I’m Audrey and I’m 9 … I LOVE OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Michelle and Bo too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OBAMA 2012
LOL
Hello Audrey. We love all those people and Bo too!!! Obama 2012!
Oh very good to see you!! Welcome Audrey! You are a treasure!!! and yes President and Mrs Obama are great role models for many of us of many ages
We love you, too, Audrey! We are glad you are paying attention to what our great President and his family (and Bo) are doing for our country!
Hellooooooooo Audrey!!!!! 9 is a GREAT age!
Hi Audrey who is 9!!!! Does your mom know you’re online? If so, hello Audrey who is 9′s mom.
Very pertinent question, Lisa. Totally appreciate the gentleness of your reminder.
Hiya VC! If you are Audrey who is 9′s mom, may I say congrats on such a sweet and loving child. 9 was a great age for me too.
Welcome AOK - You have great taste in presidents.
Maybe one day people will be expressing their love and admiration for YOU as president. Anything is possible.
Heee. Hi, kid. Wish you could vote.
It’s nice to see a skilled, knowledgeable, curious, respectful interviewer at work. Such a rare experience these days. Thank you Brian Williams!
Well done, Brian!
we need to send him some love and demonstrate our deep appreciation of his approach of respect
Spoiler Alert!
The flag comment gave me chills and made me tear up!
That was really impactful. Whew!
yeah I can see where that would be among his most prized possessions of his time in office. They probably wouldn’t be able to put it in his presidential library tho as that would expose the ops team members.
Ha, it just occurred to me, who ever our future presidents may be, he will be the only to lay claim to that flag. Get a whiff of THAT RWNJs **laughs my evil laugh**
me too! we are an “evil bunch”!
I feel like crying! Hell, I am crying!
Hell, we’re crying with ya!
Tonight’s Rock Center may be the most watched.
count me in as one who was so focused on watching the narration that I did not dare to even stand up and attend to expected demands
I hope they re-run this over the weekend. I am glad it’s on national teevee and not just on cable.
I am simply over whelmed by the details of evry thing said and recalled by those who were there
AZ neo-nazi nut and minuteman kills 4 including a 2 year old and then kills himself.
http://www.azcentral.com/community/gilbert/articles/2012/05/02/20120502gilbert-shooting-multiple-victims-abrk.html
Damn! what is wrong with these people????
simple - guns.
Horrible, just horrible.
But the bright spot is that he killed himself! I don’t care if that is crass, which it is, but it’s my honest feeling!
It’s not crass. But he just got the order wrong. Not that I want anybody killing themselves or anybody else, I can assure you.
So PROUD and GRATEFUL that he is OUR President. Thank you, God. Seriously, thank you!
O/T: on the leavings of The Newtster
Goodbye Mr. & Mrs. Helmethair.
She looks like Miss Havisham in Great Expectations. Wiry, skinny like a witch.
Tweety says: Ha!
Phenomenal special on NBC. Excellent work by Brian Williams.
Incredible work by our President, his administration, our military, and the Seals.
I need a DVD of this program - to own and share with others who care so deeply about PBO
I was thinking the same thing.
ditto
I was thinking the same, gcl. I would like to have a DVD of this. To watch over and over again. And maybe a second DVD to share with others (I don’t think I’d want to let go of one of my own!!).
Hey Pickle, I didn’t think there were others who used this sharing tactic! if something really appeals to me and I want to share I like to get two copies - one for me and one for sharing. I lost many favourite books before I smartened up. Do networks normally make DVDs of good stuff like this, or are you all just dreaming?
OFA might offer it in the Store soon.
I love the way President Obama is able to respond to the most difficult and touchy questions and subjects—-in awe, in fact—-always able to phrase everything in The Best Way Possible—-such as describing his reaction to the new photo of a dead bin Laden—-and his phone call to W. I am just overjoyed with the quality and the qualities of this man.
every day we seem to be reminded of how much we love PBO and so appreciate the deepth of his character
I wonder if the folks at FAUX vote? Lawry just showed the clip of Shep reading Willard’s statement about Leroy ending his campaign. I would think they were too jaded to actually go out and vote.
I just saw that clip. Shep looks malnourished! WTH!
LOL! I don’t think I had seen Shep since Katrina, which he covered splendidly. Free (the real) Shep!
This program starts at 9? What channel is NBC? It sounds as if it is not to be missed…
Pamela you will have to check your local listings. It’s different in every state.
Also, is it an hour long?
yes.
Thank you, DD4O, and 57andfemale, I will check, and I hope I can stay awake that long! Maybe if I get into my jammies and get all ready…. {{{{{{{{{{{:lol:}}}}}}}}}}}
Beautiful, Donna! (You’re beautiful, too, but I was talking about the poster here. Love it.)
And does he not just get better and better looking as he gets older! My my my!
It’s up to the internet to make sure no one forgets bush wanted to FORGET ABOUT bin laden.
Riveting….exceptional broadcast….i thoroughly enjoyed that…
“I did choose the risk,” the president said in an exclusive interview with Rock Center Anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams. “The reason I was willing to make that decision of sending in our SEALs to try to capture or kill bin Laden rather than to take some other options was ultimately because I had 100 percent faith in the Navy SEALs themselves.”
http://rockcenter.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/02/11493919-president-obama-bin-laden-raid-is-most-important-single-day-of-my-presidency?lite
I agree. Throw them a bone, let them feel good. We know the truth and they know that we know the truth. Let them gnaw on that bone keep them quiet foer a while. Other than that Brian Williams did a good job. Showed respect, was not condescending.
I agree it was a throw them a bone spiel. Didn’t mess up a well made documentary. We all know the truth, even those with their fingers in their ears.
I am glad that we have PBO in charge NOW
Watching President Obama describe how he evaluated all the information and made his decision, I thought of Reagan and George W.
Gutsy anyway you look at it.
True, PBO was alone, but I think even the stars in the galaxy are with him during his presidency to get him through all this. There’s that.
LOL yes there’s that.
The Situation Room/Rock Center is on again tomorrow on MSNBC! Yay!!!
Encore presentation of Brian Williams’ hour-long special tomorrow night at 8:00! I’m not sure whether it will be NBC or MSNBC (announcement on MSNBC) - and not sure the time zone.
Thanks !
Wow they must have had a record viewership show for them to do that.
#ObamasFault
I still have almost an hour before I see the Brian Willliams specil. I am waiting with baited breath.
I posted a link below. Unless your area is blocked
http://bit.ly/IpCLcc
Thanks for the time.
MSNBC.
That was my first thought when I saw her post “hide the naughty mats, quick!” That’s all I have to say on that.
That’s true, but families should always be off the table (publicly), no matter how gross they are.
Ignore her.
Amen
Just curious, why is Willard running for President again?
Because “it’s [his] turn”——-Ann R. Money.
Because it is his time and he is entitled of course.
Lisaloves we were thinking the same thing.
So that he can one-up his dad when he gets to mormon heaven.
Because he has the psychological need to one-up his Daddy — like George W. and John McCain.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if stew-rat endorses mittbot come november.
Yup, he and Nate Silver seem to be on that track. And if Obama keeps doing well, you can add Ezra Klein to that list…
And then he has Tom Coburn on!! Last night it was that nutty far-right Christian historical-revisionist. Just not enjoying the Daily Show much anymore. Am turning back to reruns of MSNBC nightly shows.
He loves the rightwingers so much that he treats them with ‘respect’. But with the president, it’s “hey dude”. Fuck him.
He’s Arianna’s BFF. So nothing he does going forward will surprise me.
Maybe Jon needs some REALITY TWEETS PUSHBACK. I hope Martin and LO’D are up for it!
Chips, LOVE your piece at the top of this post. AWESOME. I remember very clearly that debate with McCrabby McCain when the photo was taken and the way he looked at Michelle, searching for his anchor. That is a rare expression of deep love. WOOOTTTT.
can watch it online here
http://bit.ly/IpCLcc
thank you, young lady! I heard you watching it in your room, and just knew you had to have found it on TOD. Here you are the one who posted it.
BTW, shouldn’t you be asleep?
I am sleeping….NOT!
Actually I thought you were asleep, really…
not yet. I was watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMLywNlwXz0 It’s the Brit version of what NBC did on the OBL mission. It’s rather long, though.
Sleep tight, hon. See you tomorrow.
bookmarked for another night. Looks good
i have been thinking about the bush tax cuts….and the ensuing battle that will take place at the end of the year….
perhaps we should let them all expire….
what does the TOD fam …think
So, overall, it’s three pages of glowing amazement from poetry experts:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0512/75861.html
Yes, the takeaway is not the old gal friend but the depth and expanse of his knowledge
Yeah, if that had been me, I would have cherished the memories and kept it quiet. Whew.
Vile and disgusting
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/05/02/major-gop-donor-arrested-in-100-million-veteran-charity-scam/#.T6Hwsq42oSg.twitter
Chips…..this is for you.
p.s. MSNBC will air an encore of Rock Center with Brian Williams about the OBL raid tomorrow May 3rd, 2012 at 8PM ET/ 7PM CT.
UT - I like how it’s (Democratic) blue tears! (At least on my computer screen, that is.)
It should be yellow. What a craven fool he is.
Good point!
Encore of Piers Morgan is ON right now with PBO’s sister Auma Obama. #CNN
tv or online? If online do you have a link?
TV
thanks, guess I’ll wait for it to post online.
Ok, so I’m gonna tweet this!!!
https://twitter.com/?tw_e=details&tw_i=197901198131609600&tw_p=twt#!/lunar_sea/status/197901198131609600
hope this works
guess not - take two
Awesome!! Thanks, LunarSea!
It was too good to not share.
Lordie Lisa. There are 9 yr old’s lurking around ya know.
I would hope that there are no 9 year olds lurking on the Internet by themselves at almost 1am eastern time on a school night.
repeat after me “Eliot Spitzer is an ass” Rinse and repeat
I just saw a recent picture of him and Arianna. Explains a lot.
birds of a feather and all
There’s a bulldog riding a rocking horse on Dave’s show!!!
so cute!
I do not know WHY she sold her story. She comes from a family that is NOT poor
Perhaps middle aged ennui?
Love, love, love this song? In undergrad, I developed an unhealthy obsession with cole porter songs and this is one of my faves!
Why is Piers always talking bout PBO. It’s like he can’t get the real thing so he latches on to anyone close to him in this stalkerist kind out way. He’s like leeching off of them and deriving third hand pleasure from it.
Edit/ spell check:
** stalkerish** kind of way…… What a parasite.
Woah….PBO hails from an intellectually gifted family. His sister Auma Obama, went to college in Germany, speaks German and is so full of depth and wisdom. It’s in the freaking genes!
And there’s a bro in China (?) who’s an amazing pianist. Or maybe it’s England. I know, other parts of the world…lol
It’s in China.
And it’s half brother just like his sister Auma.
And you’re right; he’s a concert pianist.
He also wrote a book about their father. He said that PBO may learn a lot about him in it. One day I’ll find and read it. Unfortunately I can’t remember his name nor the title of the book
LS - Apparently three or four of the President’s (eight?) half-siblings have written books. This is the most recent story I could find:
http://www.capitalnewyork.com/article/politics/2011/12/4390559/obamas-half-brother-writes-genuine-book-about-their-fathers-life-an?page=all
I turned in before seeing your post. Thanks bunches
Welcome. Good morning!
Trouble is, they can’t handle the truth. We only have to look to Mitt to see that. Arghh.
remember that both PBO’s parent excelled in academia : father economist and mother an anthropologist
Piers just asked if Auma approved of Miche when they were getting married.
That guy was dropped on his head as a child. There can be no other explanation
Amen. He’s sick. He should be engaging in something a little more redemptive. Selling your soul to the folks who ravaged you when they caught you with your pants down isn’t very smart. Ugly freak.
Oops. Was talking bout “Elliooooooooot” here, not Piers.
Well, that explanation - plus the Peter Principle (being promoted well beyond his level of ability - in this case, to host this show). And that’s all I’ll say about that last one.
LOL. I missed this conversation last night- can’t stay up that late. You guys rock in the a.m.
PBO’s sister is a humanitarian and a community activist like PBO also. Wooohooo!
THIS.
Here it comes:” Are you a critic of [ you're brother]?”
what an ass.
” did he get that great singing voice from his African side?” —-
oh, brother!
I’m recording it but didn’t see it yet. He didn’t actually ask that singing question, did he? Ohmigod.
At this point, look out for Mrs. ex G-Friend to make a surprise appearance on his show. Oh the questions we can look forward to him asking. Piers Morgan, Rated R.
can’t stand him.
Wonder what his ratings are like. I can barely get past 10 minutes watching him on other nights. He’s so creepy and slimy.
Oh, I never watch him unless someone close to PBO is his guest. Can’t stomach that creep.
Me, too. In fact, I just started watching my recording, saw the President’s lovely sister, remembered your comments, and flipped the channel. Maybe I’ll find a written transcript of what she said. I couldn’t get through his awful snarkiness - even on the first couple of questions. Not going to do that to myself.
PBO’s sis was lovely and accomplished though. It might be worth it to grimace your way through his bull. She’s very smart and funny.
Maybe tomorrow! Thanks. Just not in the mood for negative tonight.
lisa - thanks for the encouragement, because I just finished watching PBO’s sister and she was just great. In this case, HE’s the one who should feel proud! Goodnight.
NOOOO say it ain’t so! He didn’t actually ask those questions, did he?
I shot you not. It’s Piers Morgan, Murdoch lapdog extraordinaire.
**shit** not shot. Stupid autocorrect.
And to cap it all off, Piers asks the inevitable birther question: ” was he born” in another country?
Ps- Piers’ stupidity didn’t detract from how awesome Auma is. What a committed and honorable woman she is.
Take it easy on Piers.
Nice try. :smirk:
Major fist bump !!
Let’s move on.
At least I am
If you don’t like the fact that I did it , then tough.
whatever….girl bye!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa
—- Piers ^ickhead is gonna have W aka Shrub on his shoe tomorrow. What an asshat.
Hhahahahjahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha!!!!
‘shrub on his shoe” - sounds just about right.
Autocorrect sucks.
Even autocorrect knows that dubya is a turd.
oooh, a great excuse to post this!!! The last time Pres G.W. Bush was in Iraq!! What a difference a term makes!! Don’t worry, NO TRANSLATION IS NEEDED!!
Secret Service was kinda slow getting to Shrub….must of been one of the partiers.
I think I remember the setting, so I don’t need to click on that video. I could not care less about the actual target, but what an embarrassment to the office of the presidency.
Agreed. I think this was during the ’08 election, so, it really just proved to the American people how low he had sunk.
I’ll give Bush credit, tho, he knew how to duck - unlike Reagan.
WOW, this is brutal and I am laughing out loud!
West Coaster here and the 30 Rock Special on the killing of OBL is just about over. I came in late so I hope it’s replayed over the weekend.
I wish I lived on the west coast, especially Cali.
Hi lisalovesobama,
I thought you were on the west coast. You must be a night owl who likes to stay up late because sometimes you are one of last ones on here at night/early morning.
I know! But my bedtime is 1:45 on weeknights so I try to live it up as much as possible!
Almost your bedtime….night night Lisalovesobama, see you tomorrow for another TOD day.
Hi Bill R, yes in deed…I am so proud of PBO he is the right man for our country, a man with nerves of steel.
Not sure if this has been posted yet:

NBC’s Special on the Web Site
