question….the roundtable discussions that PBO is having with business leaders …are those American Businesses….and if so…are they traveling with the President or are they attending on their own
on previous travels, PBO has taken delegations of American business leaders who are seeking business networks and deals in the host country;
I recall reading reports about how these business people appreciate it when PBO takes them along - they claimed it a kind of stamp of approval PBO gives to these countries, it shortens the local bureaucratic red tapes and gives them access to key local leaders & business people;
on some occasions PBO has also addressed local business leaders and entrepreneurs in forums that also included delegations of American business leaders

Hey Bob, you may want to join in on the fun and respond to this sockpuppet on TPV: http://www.thepeoplesview.net/main/2014/4/17/soft-powers-amazing-resuscitation-the-ukraine-deal#comment-1346101836
I hope when the president writes his memoirs he tells us how he kept himself going through these grinding, mindnumbingly long and complex trips. He can’t put one foot wrong at any time or make a careless remark. Plus, he has to make progress and win the trust of everyone of the world leaders he meets with, which requires intense focus at all times. It seems an almost inhuman pace, yet he seems to do it with grace and good spirit every single time. Those who think they want to be or can be president should think about these kinds of punishing schedules and then think again.
Yes, anyone following him is going to have a difficult time accomplishing what he has. Like you said….always operates with grace and dignity in all situations. It has taken him and his administration these years to dig us out of the hold GWB put us into internationally.
POTUS, HRC, and now Kerry have worked hard and are working hard to revive the world’s faith and trust in the U.S. They are doing magnificent work. I think how fortunate it is for the world that this Ukrainian crisis did not happen in the beginning of PBO’s administration, when trust and credibility of the U.S. were below sea level. Now, he has built up trust in us, and credibility in our word so that Europe has worked with us on this crisis. This would not have happened even three years ago. Trust once destroyed, takes a long time to rebuild, but he and his team have done just that.
And then when you think about it, it piss you off when the right complain about when POTUS and his family even go on a vacation. POTUS, FLOTUS and the family need some down time just for them.
hello Jackie…I read on an earlier thread you comments about Wolf….he opened an office in Scranton…he has a 46 page pan of action which ihave not read yet….he has gotten a few endorsements of State Reps…namely…Dwight Evans and Curtis Jones….more will be coming….there will be a candidate’s forum next Tuesday sponsored by the Committee of 70…I hope to attend that..
as for Allyson Swartz…I saw one of her ads….it was a flop in my opinion….of all the things confronting the citizens of PA…her ad talks about breaking the old boys network…for most of her career she has been focused on Women’s Health…I first met her long ago when she, was a State Senator…she hosted yearly health fairs around women’s health…it was held at Girls’ High School here in Philly….that is what she should have said. She should have talked about ObamaCare and expanding Medicaid…and what that means for women….she blew a great opportunity…
here is the link to the Wolf’s plan….I look forward to your thoughts about it..
Pf, I think Wolf’s plan is solid and certainly well-thought out and presented. I’m a little dismayed that he didn’t include a plan to update the voting process in PA, which is way behind the times and does not serve PA voters well. Also, it is pretty slim on women’s health issues, although he does stress pay equality. Frankly, I think he’s going to be the primary winner and I think he has a good shot in November, even though I personally like McCord. As for Schwartz, I would love to see a woman Pa governors, but I don’t think she or McGinty or it.
Glad you have a good candidate for state rep. We don’t.
President Obama tires me out at the pace that he works. There have been times that I actually felt ashamed for complaining about what I have to do when I think of his demanding schedule. I couldn’t do it, and there are a lot of “want to be Presidents”, who will not be able to do it.
For President Obama, it’s not about “him.” His work is about the “peoples business” and he takes his job seriously. I believe that he is able to operate at this level for many reasons; one being, his love for the people. I can’t imagine anyone carrying this type of a schedule because too many of them, make it about themselves. Everyday this President is looking for ways to make our lives better, and I believe that this contributes to some of his joy; knowing that he has an opportunity to do something for the “people.”
I want to read his memoirs because I want to understand how he contained himself, when stupid got stuck on stupid, and he wanted to bring out a can of whip A _ _ to knock some sense into some of them. How did he not tell Donald Trump what he really thought of his crazy a_ _, and his birth certificate shenanigans? Please tell us Mr. President what you really wanted to do to this bozo, repukes and teabaggers.
He’s the hardest working President in my life time. I also believe that he is able to do so much because sooooooooo many prayer warriors are on the battlefield for him; moving his enemies out of the way and making a clear path for the President to run down. He should have bags underneath his eyes but he looks so refreshed and charged, and I will give that credit to Mrs. Obama (wink), and of course his girls. His smile brightens the most gloomiest places, and energizes people to want to do more.
I love our 1st FAMILY so very much, and I am so grateful that the good Lord called them; anointed and appointed them, to serve us and this country for a time such as this. I am also grateful that AG Eric Holder is still with him as they work for justice for all.
They are the breath of “fresh air” that fills my day and gives me hope for tomorrow. SHOUT OUT to President Obama and Mrs. Obama!!!
Totally agree with you, Cindy. A lot of presidents have gone through the motions, but President Obama puts his heart and his razor sharp intellect into everything he does.
ps: oh, Chipsticks, perhaps it as well you left off the “tea at MightyPamela’s villa”, between Oso and departing for Tokyo on Tuesday… It is a very tight schedule, but there’s always time for tea!! ;)<3
I sorry to hear about some of the students and parents in Kansas is upset about FLOTUS speaking at their high school graduation. I am wondering just how many students is upset or is it just some of the loud mouth right wing nuts who are making all the noise. But regardless FLOTUS will make the right decision, and as someone else said their are plenty schools out there who would love for FLOTUS to give the commencement speech.
I’m guessing it’s just a few tea party parents who are making the noise. Saw that article earlier in the week when I was reading about the arrest of the ‘highway shooter’. The stated complaint was that all the high schools had to attend one big graduation (instead of their individual ones) so everyone would be allowed fewer tickets for relatives because of space constraints. And then we got to the likely real reason from some hater parents——that they wanted graduation to be about the students, not “some political event”, which was a way of expressing their distaste for the First Lady speaking. And the sad thing is it’s always a few noisy, ugly people that are causing problems. I’m guessing most parents, even in Kansas, were pleased with the announced commencement speaker.
Oh no——-just found out why I had so much trouble booking a hotel room in Indy next weekend. We always stay at Embassy Suites or Homewood Suites when we go to visit my daughter and fam and my (fairly) new grandbabe——-could stay with them but don’t like to bug people at night and in the morning—-like to give them a breather—-and us too. So anyhoo—-never have any trouble booking a room—-but this time every hotel/motel was sold out ——what?—-couldn’t believe it—-decided we picked the wrong weekend maybe due to proms and graduations or something. One hotel happened to mention that rooms were blocked off for a convention. Now I just got an email from Shannon Watts from Moms Demand Gun Sense asking anyone in or near Indy to help them stage a counter-rally for the NRA convention in Indy next weekend. Oh great—-the whole place will be swarming with gun nuts. Ugh to the max. I did finally find a Hampton Inn that just opened a couple of weeks ago—-hopefully no gun goofs knew about it. So we will be there——I don’t know if I can get my other peeps there to go to the counter rally with me. I know my daughter had some activities already planned. I despise the NRA and everything it stands for and all its supporters—-and it looks like they are showing up in huge numbers for their big convention.
With Russia in the news lately and since tomorrow is Easter Sunday, here’s an article from last month about a US owner of a “missing” Faberge egg who discovered what was in his possession via the Google.
“He intended to sell it on to a buyer who would melt it down, turning a quick profit of a few hundred pounds. But prospective buyers thought he had over-estimated the price and turned him down.
The egg languished in his kitchen for years until one night in 2012, when he Googled “egg” and “Vacheron Constantin”, a name etched on the timepiece inside.’
Purchased at US auction in 1964, £20m Fabergé egg was almost sold for scrap.

LL’s gone to run errands, so doubt he’ll see this.
For all you soccer fans in TODville (older Americans like myself who weren’t raised by AYSO have a hard time understanding the frenzy associated with a game where you can’t use your hands and the scores make baseball and hockey seem like high scoring affairs)…
Greek football fans use flares to create huge ring of fire & dump fish on bench of opponents. http://t.co/5CV4ZsbyUM http://t.co/p8e215gvsr

P.S. The Pope on 60 minutes joked with one of friends, calling his friend’s soccer team “chickens” — and after a loss by that team needled his friend with references to “chicken soup,” LOL.
Wow, that says it all really, Hopefruit. And they love him even more because he’s a Jew who utterly despises Israel, their perfect poster boy.
It’s still incredible to me that absolutely no one in the MSM has looked in to Greenwald’s record, eg passionately defending white supremacists, his links with the Kochs, his right wing hate speech against, for example, immigrants, his support of the Iraq war, etc. Astounding.
They haven’t looked into his record because for now his agenda benefits them and their allies/friends in the GOP. But as the saying goes, what goes around comes around…
True Hopefruit, I think there’ll be major revelations one day about the agendas/backers of people like him, the Kochs will probably only be the half of it. It’s sinister and disgusting.
something just came through my TL, an announcement from him => GG is doing event with Noam Chomsky, May 15, in Boston (don’t know if “No Place to Hide” is associated with Harvard);
expecting this garbage hero worship to continue from many people who don’t want to look at the truth before their very eyes
Ah, all so predictable Linda. I loved Chomsky when I was 15, and then I grew up. That he now allies himself with Greenwald is grim, any credibility he ever had is flushed down the drain.
I’ve written about my infatuation with Chomsky in essays before. I adored him in my early 20s. Consumed everything from Pacifica. Was convinced we were living in a soft dictatorship.
And then what I observed around me didn’t quite fit what came from those quarters. And permanent anger just got tiring.
And of course, remember, Chomsky dismissed both the Cambodian and Bosniak genocides.
The greatest insult I can deliver him, LL, is that he is still like me when I was 15. He was right about so much, eg America’s often ugly interference in sovereign democratic states, but he is so hopelessly unrealistic about the dangers out there and the need to take measures to counter them. I just can’t take him seriously any more. And, again, that he is lining up with Greenwald, good grief.
I’m exhausted after one busy day—-don’t know how President Obama does it with a constant string of them——and I had to make no public appearances/speeches which were under scrutiny. (I did chat with a couple of sales clerks but that probably doesn’t count) I was asked to bring cheese/crackers/nuts to daughter’s Easter din—-too hard!—wonder why everyone always asks me to bring a non-cooking contribution, like rolls and butter or wine or nuts—-hmmm—-so made my procrastinated run for that and got- a couple little bunny things for my 4 yr. old grandson. Did trimming and clean up outside on a finally decent day—sunny and 60’s, ran to get my annual supply of pansies——pale yellow and deep wine were my color combo choice this year—-nice?—-yes!—planted them in pots and a bunch of other places, got deck furny back on deck (with mr. dotster’s sorta help), cleaned that all up, got out cushions for same, cleaned those——and whew! I’m done.
WOW…PBO’S ASIAN SCHEDULE IS AMAZING…AM DONATING ONE PAIR OF ROLLERBLADES…AND A SKATEBOARD TO HELP OUT! HOWEVER, SOMETHING TELLS ME HE WON’T NEED THOSE THINGS…HE’LL JUST LIGHT UP HIS SHOES,CHANGE HIS BATTERY PACK AND TAKE OFF…LEAPING TALL BUILDINGS IN A SINGLE BOUND!…CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE PHOTOS FROM THIS ADVENTURE!
and PBO will be doing this with a huge smile on his face and deep consideration of the feelings of the people he meets along the way (irrespective of their station in life);
the country and world is very lucky that PBO chose public service and that he is in charge during this period of rapid and fundamental changes around the globle
One of our reps here, Ann Kirkpatrick, has had a steady stream of campaign ads against her tying her to the bad rollout of the ACA and connecting her to Pres. Obama (cue doom and gloom music).
I was pleasantly surprised to see an ad sort of defending her by pointing out one of the people doing an ad against ObamaCare is an actress and saying these groups are financed by billionaires Koch Brothers. They then pivoted to going after Andy Tobin, saying he’s an insurance executive who wants to give tax breaks benefitting insurance companies which raises prescription costs for seniors and that he in turn also profits from it. It was the first time I’ve seen such an ad (I don’t watch too much live TV) and I must say it was nice to see the pushback.
http://www.thehousemajoritypac.com/news/press-releases/house-majority-pac-unveils-tv-spots-defending-arizona-reps-kirkpatrick-barber-against-deceptive
Hi TrumpD, that’s an ad by SenateMajorityPAC - a Dem outfit that has a handful of ads out supporting dem candidates. I’ve been keeping my eye on their site to catch their new ads when they appear.
Just read this article where it says that most of the response to FLOTUS speaking have been positive. http://
abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2014/04/not-everyones-happy-michelle-obama-will-deliever-graduation-address-school district-responds/
just keep the cursor on the url address (one beginning with with http://) of the website/article you want, keep your finger on the right side of your mouse & click (i.e. right-click) and then select copy; once in you place the cursor where you want to put the reference, then right-click & select paste
Thanks again, Bob. I’ve bookmarked this so I can follow every day. Life in Sloviansk must be unbearable right now and people still listen to this pro-Russian priest? Wow.
Fear and hate, manipulated by a dude with a cross around his neck, has done plenty of damage to humanity - for centuries. This is just another incarnation of it, sadly.

question….the roundtable discussions that PBO is having with business leaders …are those American Businesses….and if so…are they traveling with the President or are they attending on their own
That wasn’t specified in the press briefing yesterday Prettyfoot, I assumed it would be local business leaders but maybe a mixture?
on previous travels, PBO has taken delegations of American business leaders who are seeking business networks and deals in the host country;
I recall reading reports about how these business people appreciate it when PBO takes them along - they claimed it a kind of stamp of approval PBO gives to these countries, it shortens the local bureaucratic red tapes and gives them access to key local leaders & business people;
on some occasions PBO has also addressed local business leaders and entrepreneurs in forums that also included delegations of American business leaders
thanks so much for that info…Linda
Ukraine Foreign Minister Speaks of Mistrust—and a Truce

Will check it out now, LL. Just finished a meeting and have about an hour before my next one :)
Well, LL, that smelly sockpuppet got thoroughly scrubbed by the TPV community :)
Haven’t even had to ban her yet, as Spandan is AFK.
Oops. Wrong holiday.
I don’t know how he repeatedly does this so beautifully and completely;
reading the schedule just made me feel dizzy!
Saw that you were in a rear-ender accident yesterday due to distracted driving by a teenager.
Distracted driving really is the bane of 21st century driving.
Thanks, Arapaho. We’re doing ok, but our car may not be saved. We may have to be looking for a replacement with all the hassle that represents.
All right, house is more or less clean, and we’re off to lunch.
It should have been 8 hours Mr. Knoller, he has worked for every second of it!
Thank Knoller for the info, can he tell if POTUS enjoy the 4 hour round of golf? Let me know..
Knoller POTUS back at the WH, what is he doing now? What did he have for supper? Is he watching tv?

It’s been such a revealing time Linda, I expected the bigotry from the right, but the ‘progressive left’? Wow.
And, again, that he is lining up with Greenwald, good grief.
they are practicing “don’t ask, don’t tell” for now as they jointly place razor focus on trying to destroy their “perceived common enemy, PBO”;
but past events guide us to know that in time, those working against PBO loose even as he ignores their antics
I’m done.
I’ll take the nuts/crackers/cheese contribution. Next time promise to bring them a homemade strawberry shortcake baked from scratch! :) :)
Dotster, whatta day!!!! (With Mr Dotster’s sorta help) :-)
Put your feet up, pour yourself a glass of your favorite tipple, you’ve earned it!
PS Sounds like your family have as much respect for your cooking as TOD does for mine.
REMINDER:
Orphan Black premieres tonight on BBCAmerica, 9pm EST
she may not admit it but Katrina & her ilk have been had by putin, GG & Poitras & other E. S. handlers => too blinded by ODS & willful ignorance
Katrina has ties (familial AND financial) to Russia. Her hubby is a Russian-Studies Prof at NYU and a staunch Putin apologist/cheerleader/supporter.
thanks for the info - explains a lot
Bo is one cool dog.

Perfect!
He left out two things PBO: Black Putin: white
That’s what’s implied by Snowden taking Putin at his word over the President.
WOW…PBO’S ASIAN SCHEDULE IS AMAZING…AM DONATING ONE PAIR OF ROLLERBLADES…AND A SKATEBOARD TO HELP OUT! HOWEVER, SOMETHING TELLS ME HE WON’T NEED THOSE THINGS…HE’LL JUST LIGHT UP HIS SHOES,CHANGE HIS BATTERY PACK AND TAKE OFF…LEAPING TALL BUILDINGS IN A SINGLE BOUND!…CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE PHOTOS FROM THIS ADVENTURE!
and PBO will be doing this with a huge smile on his face and deep consideration of the feelings of the people he meets along the way (irrespective of their station in life);
the country and world is very lucky that PBO chose public service and that he is in charge during this period of rapid and fundamental changes around the globle
Seeker, you are so right about that.

I’m not so sure this election cycle will be as big of a slam dunk for the GOP that the media is hyping it to be.
Hi TrumpD, that’s an ad by SenateMajorityPAC - a Dem outfit that has a handful of ads out supporting dem candidates. I’ve been keeping my eye on their site to catch their new ads when they appear.
Here’s another of theirs.
Well done.
It’s stuff like this that has me reaching for my purse. I don’t mind giving when we have strong messages such as these.
not it will not because people (or their relatives and/or friends) are actually enrolled in and experiencing Obamacare first hand;
before it was mainly abstract and the gop liars could get away with all kinds of fear-mongering and blatant lies;
now the facts don’t lie & they are delivered by word of mouth from friends and family you know and trust;
Great points.
I guess I was a tad nervous thinking our side would not be fighting back. But from what I see, we are, thank goodness.
facts speak for themselves;
I just took a TOD memory lane stroll going back to 2011 Easter with our First family. Oh my…the girls have grown :)

Just read this article where it says that most of the response to FLOTUS speaking have been positive. http://

I’ll get this right one day. Watch me. :(
yes you will;
just keep the cursor on the url address (one beginning with with http://) of the website/article you want, keep your finger on the right side of your mouse & click (i.e. right-click) and then select copy; once in you place the cursor where you want to put the reference, then right-click & select paste
Sweet - I will check that out. Thanks!
Not good, the situation … the messenger is quite reliable ….
Thanks again, Bob. I’ve bookmarked this so I can follow every day. Life in Sloviansk must be unbearable right now and people still listen to this pro-Russian priest? Wow.
Glad you find the site of interest, Jackie.
Fear and hate, manipulated by a dude with a cross around his neck, has done plenty of damage to humanity - for centuries. This is just another incarnation of it, sadly.
You don’t need to know the language to get the message ….
New post.
