Evening all
GE, Alma-b! I’ve been waiting to ask you - did you have/make any government contacts in Jamaica? I’m looking for someone who can get me a ticket or two to be a part of PBO’s early April visit. :grin:
Hmmm…and if I get two tickets what do you think I’m going to do with them? However if my conservative husband says no I’ll keep you in mind.
Forget your conservative husband, after all, you got the idea from me! Though if you really, really don’t want to leave him behind I can understand - just give me both tickets. I’m almost sure I could talk someone else from TODland into accompanying me.
You’re on! I hear the PM Portia Simpson is preparing herself for the BIG hug. That should be me and you eh?
Have you seen any news as to where he will be staying - in Kingston or out of town?
Kingston. The US Embassy which looks like Fort Knox is literally just up the road from my SIL. Check out the JamaicaGleaner.com for more info.
Thanks. Is SiL going?
Don’t know if she will get an invite. I’m going to ask her. Seriously you got me hankering to jump on a plane if she says yes.
If she says yes, try to get another, seriously. I’ll jump on the plane with you from here - to keep you company, you know ;) ;) as hubby will be busy otherwise.
You’re on!
:) :) Let me know as soon as you hear back. ;)
I will ✈️
:grin: I like the visual!

Ok, so I have to share with my online family.
The missus’ part-time job seems to be quickly evolving into a full time job. She worked yesterday and today. She’s going to work Sat/Sun, and 3 more days next week. Her DoN (not you, Don), is moving to getting her on fulltime. And the hours seem to be mostly in the daytime.
Can I tell you how much of a burden this is off our shoulders? Jesus.
Congrats to missus.
Sure hope her DoN will make it happen!!!
Excellent news, LL. Hope your wife is good at managing the stress from all that emotionally and physically demanding work. It takes a special person like her to give so much to people.
Fingers crossed, LL - sounds like things are looking up!

suck it, Bibi …..
A sad song but seems to be so true today.
Nerdy, some of these tweets are so tragic and depressing or enraging, I want to just cry in anger and frustration. Some are jaw dropping, like the 17,000-year old whale bone, and a few just make me smile. Your nightly roundups manage to encapsulate the emotional roller coaster of a day in America and make it impossible to feel neutral about anything. And that , dear Nerdy, is truly awesome.
Perfection!!!
Thank you so much, Jackie; and thank you for the feedback. It’s very informative.
#TrustBarack
I am very, very happy to see that PBO is not taking Bibi’s bullshit and will reevaluate U.S. support for Israel in the U.N. The deterioration of the U.S./Israeli “relationship” has happened quicker than I ever could have imagined, and I think it is a wonderful thing. It was pathetic how GWB let Israel get away with any atrocity they wanted (bombing Lebanon over 2 kidnapped soldiers among other murderous actions). This is why GWB was and remains very popular in Israel, while PBO has never been popular. Racism and hubris got the best of the Bibi and he showed his cards for the world to see (finally his words matched his actions). How a nation that expects/demands “special treatment” by the world community due to the horrible legacy of the Holocaust could allow itself to become a racist apartheid state is beyond comprehension. PBO, always looking at the long game, constructed an energy policy that weaned our country off of middle east oil. This will serve to lower the strategic importance of the region to the U.S. and help the U.S. pivot to the pacific. Bibi, through his arrogance and desperation, has made PBO’s pivot that much easier. Would love to see war crimes charges brought against the Israeli regime and its soldiers. Their has to be some kind of check on Israel’s actions in the region. Of course every country has the right to defend itself, but if it would not be acceptable for the U.S. to bomb civilian populations for days over kidnapped U.S. soldiers, then neither should Israel be allowed to take such disproportionate actions. If we would justifiably protest if our military was targeting women, children and reporters, Israel should not be allowed to engage in such barbarism (especially on our dime). Unless I am misreading history, the lesson of the Holocaust was not that Jewish life is more precious than that of Arabs or Palestinians. As a side note, I think that the same “impulses” are driving the increase in racism/racist rhetoric in both Israel and the U.S.
“…. I think that the same “impulses” are driving the increase in racism/racist rhetoric in both Israel and the U.S.”
Agree, Eric. BTW, excellent comment.
I think that Netanyahu’s and his Liqud party has some part to play with the reason that antisemitism has taken root in Europe among other places.
Couldn’t agree more with you.
Don’t think so Jeff, there has always been ugly anti-semitism in Europe (and elsewhere), not sure if it’s any worse now than it’s ever been - although some will use Nethayahu to justify their hate.
Congrats Chips on 30 MILLION!!! You have made a very real difference in this world. Thank you.
yeah, you’re right the more I think about it. Maybe it’s been getting more attention than it has before.
Although I have noticed much of the media has shrugged about Islamaphobia.
Someone sure needs to “wind back the tape” on Netanyahu - how do you support a country leader who turns 180 degrees within 3 days! He should never be believed about anything.
the lesson of the Holocaust was not that Jewish life is more precious than that of Arabs or Palestinians.
exactly.
“How a nation that expects/demands “special treatment” by the world community due to the horrible legacy of the Holocaust could allow itself to become a racist apartheid state is beyond comprehension.” Well said Eric
Hi Eric, love reading your thoughts.
I’m always really uncomfortable, though, with the Holocaust being brought in to current discussions about Netanyahu and Co’s murderous behavior towards the Palestinians. Much as we might expect a people brutalized at some point(s) in their history to never brutalize others, I don’t think we have a right to expect them to be any better than the rest of us. If anything, their history explains why they act like they do.
Some of the very worst Apartheid supporters were people who left Northern Ireland for South Africa to escape sectarianism, and rather than vow never to treat people like they had been treated, many of them luxuriated in Apartheid and all the benefits it brought to white, English-speaking immigrants. They just looked for anyone on a lower rung of the social ladder than them to discriminate against to make them feel stronger, a state of mind that is encouraged the world over by the powers that be. Setting one class/religion/race against another, they feed the suspicion and hate, it keeps the power machine ticking over. America is the ultimate example of that through history - the Irish, native Americans, African Americans, Latinos, etc, all pitted against each other for jobs with the lowest of wages, etc, their mutual loathing encouraged so they would compete against each other.
Millions of Israelis/Jews voted against Netanyahu/hate, and they’re among the most pained victims in all of this, they want better, and they don’t want Palestinians slaughtered in their name.
Those who chose Netanyahu/hate - I just think they’re frightened and largely ignorant people, their fear and ignorance stoked by Netanyahu and his like. This generation grew up listening to stories of the Holocaust from their parents, grandparents, etc, and feeling isolated as they do in the Middle East, it’s hard to dismiss their fear and not appreciate their sense that another Holocaust is around the corner.
And the Palestinian suicide bombers and rockets from Gaza hardly lessen their fear.
That they would support the slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere as a deterrent/revenge is depressing, but the fact is they feel under siege - again, a feeling stoked by hatemongers like Netanyahu.
They should be berated for that, because what happened in Gaza last year, and to Palestinians through the years, has been nothing but genocide, but I just don’t believe that survivors of genocide should be held to a standard higher than the rest of us. Again, if anything, I think it explains their mindset.
<3 Chipsticks <3
Thanks for the forum Chips and I understand and respect your POV. I bring up the Holocaust because it is the reason Israel was created and the rationale for the special treatment it has received from the world community for many decades. It gave Israel a certain “moral authority” that I feel it has abused in recent years. In short, I think it is impossible to have an honest conversation about what is going on in Israel and how wrong/sad it is without referencing the circumstances that lead to that nation’s creation. I am not comparing Bibi’s savagery toward Arabs and Palestinians to the horrors of the Holocaust (there is no comparison in terms of scale). I fully understand that Israel, just as any nation, has a right to defend itself, but the response should be proportionate and not involve group punishment for the actions of the few. Bibi pulled a “George Wallace”, went full on racist and won handily. That such would occur in a nation with Israel’s history I think demands honest and frank discussion.
Chips, you know I greatly appreciate you, however, I agree with Eric, that Israel is the only persecuted race that constantly wave their horror in the face of the world and now they want to bully another race and still claim to be a victim. Can’t have it both ways.
Chips - I could never express myself with the depth you just did about how I personally feel about all of this, because some emotional part of me won’t allow me to get the words out. But I certainly agree with each and every word you wrote … and this has helped me come to grips with my own long-held beliefs. If that made sense. Thank you for taking the time to post this.
I’m not comfortable with people trying to use the Holocaust as an excuse for Israel to commit their own genocide against the Palestinians. The people that Israel refuses to acknowledge as a people and instead labels them as a terrorist organization.
Finkelstein’s parents were actual holocaust survivors. Maybe the pro-Israel crowd should stop invoking it every chance they get as some sort of justification for committing war crimes.
Chips & Eric - your dialogue is what makes TOD special.
imo:
We are witness to ongoing (as in many 1000s of years’) irrational, inhuman, brutal cycle of exploitation and genocide serving the net worth of certain individuals and clans.
When one steps back (over millennia) and asks who benefits, the names vary, but the modus operandi doesn’t.
A few dudes in Tehran, Saudi Arabia (& other Sunni Kingdoms), Tel Aviv, Manhattan (and a few other US kleptocrat enclaves) have a remarkably symbiotic, vicious & enormously profitable (cash and control) scam.
The emergence of Barack Hussein Obama as a twice elected President of the United States of America has catalyzed many of the convulsions we are witnessing.
What fascinates me, in particular, is that the wise Persians seem to ‘get him’ way more than most (though President Peres, Pope Francis, and certain other notables clearly, also, do).
What is also of note is that Bibi has effectively vaporized the core lesson of ‘the Holocaust.’
That a Jew could do what he did to the inhabitants of Gaza, last summer, is beyond immoral, beyond unconscionable. Any person questioning that should have to live, 24×7, with unrelenting artillery, mortars, drones & high-performance jets raining an insane amount of weapons on, literally, totally defenseless civilians.
So, for someone who could not more want Jews to have a democratic state and Palestinians to have a democratic state and all the folk in the ME to spend way more time nurturing future generations rather than eradicating them, I just wish that the vast majority of the people on the planet would heed General Butler - ‘war is a racket’ - and refuse to participate, in any way, in perpetuating that racket.
good night TOD
Wow…..I agree wholeheartedly, Chips. Thank you.
Those same arguments you made can easily be attributed to the Racism in USA and to the deep seeded wicked behavior conducted by the TBGOPers in USA……minus the Suicide Bombings…..for Most Fear of The Black skin in USA is out of the Fear created by those who fear the Black Bodies.
These back and forth discussions is superbly great.
I should have read all sides before commenting. Now that I have……I appreciate TOD more. Thank you. Eric and Doc Bobfr have made this discussion deserving of hearing and weighing all sides. Thanks GGail.
Perhaps a change in US…..just a little might help. More so, the Jewish community in USA…..need to speak louder when GOP and the Fundamentalist are loudly demanding for wars everywhere.
Wow many thanks NW - I just found time to watch the MSNBC fact check - guess that’s another commentator who won’t be allowed to say much on there any more.
Princeton girl basketball team will be in Maryland Sunday to play a game, and we know who plays on that Princeton team. The First Lady and President’s niece. I wonder if any of the First Family might be attending the game. I don’t know if the First Lady will be back from her trip yet.
bella2758, thank you for that information. I will make sure to watch out for the game.
Awesome wasn’t it 99ts
The GOP will never even admit that they said what they said - even with film of the event. Just so sad that the media continues to support the liars.
And yes, it sure was awesome - I’m amazed at the so high level of his researchers - they support him each and every day.
As we do :-)
:)
US technology giant AT&T has lost $40m (£27m) after its lawyers did not read key documents in time and subsequently failed to submit an appeal in a patent case.
An appeals court ruled the firm missed a 30-day window to appeal against a judgment in which AT&T was found guilty of infringing on a patent for tracking technology owned by Two-Way Media.
AT&T said it was “excusable neglect”.
But the court said 18 staff could have seen the document yet did not.
http://www.bbc.com/news/business-31979002
Does that ‘excusable neglect’ policy extend to its customers too?
Not just AT&T - every technology company in the world has ghastly communication systems. I shall use the term “UNexcusable neglect” next time I have to speak with my phone/internet provider :)
I will try this again. Congrats Chips on 30MM+++ and for keeping this place of sanity for the rest of us. NW what a great collection of tweets. I am not as elegant as some, so I will just agree with everyone. :-) AMK, congrats on your getting the gold finally. :-) GN Folks.
now that I have halted my crying, I can tell my story;
when you hear/read all those stories of unarmed civilians being shot/harmed/killed by law enforcement, you, as a racial minority, wonder when you will find yourself in that situation and what you would do to come out of it alive;
just over two hours ago I found myself being placed in the back of a police cruiser and answering questions from 3 police officers who had pulled out behind my car in two police vehicles;
what was my crime: apparently someone (the only person I had last seen in my vicinity what a middle-aged white male) had called the police and told them that I was trying to steal a car packed in the parking lot of an auto-mechanic shop;
how did I end up in this situation: my car was having problems so I dropped it off at the workshop of my regular mechanic. this repair shop is just a street away from where I live and a few feet from where I can catch and get off that public city bus.
the neighborhood is at the edge of the largest public university and so the majority of the residents are students, university employees, or those who work in the two very large hospitals (university hospital and a huge private hospital);
my mechanic’s shop is just opposite the offices of the city’s local NBC TV affiliate;
multiple restaurants and eatery/restaurants of different price structures abound;
so people are always walking around and this would not be a good place to commit a robbery in broad day light from a shop that is adjacent to a fast food joint;
I started the day very early (5.00 a.m.) so that I could get my two buses to get to work on time;
my car was at the mechanic’s shop;
during the course of the day, the mechanic gives me a call and says the repairs have been completed and that I could pick up the car any time;
I inform him that I the bus would get me to the shop after hours and he offers to leave the car key hidden in a place where I could pick it (spare one was at home) when I got off the bus;
a few hours later, I get to the shop, call the mechanic and he guides me to locate the car key;
I am seated in my car talking to my mechanic telling him that whatever repairs he had made were not sufficient as the car had refused to start & that I would leave it on the lot for him to look over;
just then I see two police cruisers pull up behind me; two officers approach my car - one on either side of the car;
one police officer asks to me to roll the window down while another asks me what I am doing and is touching the belt where his pistol is hanging;
I am confused at this time about who to answer first;
at this time all the recent episodes of police interaction with minorities are flashing through my mind;
one persistent thought was that “hey, whatever you do, don’t make any sudden moves that will get you killed …. you have to get through this situation alive);
of course this is when I realize that whatever trouble was happening to the car meant that the automatic windows could not roll down, so I decide to open the driver’s door; I made sure that my hands could be seen and that I repeated each question from the officers;
was asked what I am doing - I said I came on the bus and I am picking up my car;
one officer told me that are you sure that this is your car because someone called you in that you are trying to steal cars here…. this is not your car … you are trying to steal two cars …. how come car won’t start -my response was that whatever repairs the mechanic made failed and I just informed him of the same … do you want to talk to him;
officer: no, why are you picking up your car now when mechanic is not here?
me: because the bus got here after hours and I really need to run errands so mechanic told me to take it - errand in this case being trying to go to a money transfer place and send my family money because my father was hospitalized;
another, officer: can we see your ID .. which was inside my bag … so I asked for permission to get it;
when I handed them the ID then then I was ordered to step out of the car and one officer pulled both my hands behind my back and took me to the back on one of the police cruisers and closed the door - thank heavens I was not hand cuffed;
police officers call in my information for a check about the registration of the car and also if I have any outstanding legal issues or tickets;
police record comes back clean;
once again they tell me that a person called me in as a suspicious person stealing cars but that all my information checked out and so I could go;
I left my car there and I walked away crying & asking myself this question: what about me made someone immediately think that I am a thief rather that a “damsel in distress”?
if I had looked different, could the person who called in the police report have first thought that maybe I was having car trouble rather than the first thought being that I am a thief trying to steal two cars …. all by my lonesome self? questions, questions, …, questions.
something that has always bothered me about these incidents in the news about fatal shootings of unarmed people (especially racial minorities) is the role that ordinary citizens played in bring about the subsequent killings;
who do we immediately think of as suspicious and how is this feeling influenced by our biases and stereotypes;
of course I could not go to send money to my family to help with my hospitalized father; I just proceeded walking home to resume the errand tomorrow because I think my luck for today may have just run out;
that is a day in the life of this immigrant;
yes, of course, I am crying again …….
We’re all crying with you. I am so very beyond sorry that this happened to you, while trying to help your family. What happened to you is unspeakable.
thanks for your concern; I felt so alone
You are not alone here, that’s for sure. I cannot even imagine what that felt like, Linda. You are a deeply loved member of this community, and in our thoughts tonight.
sorry for the typos - I am feeling very vulnerable and upset so I can’t seem to even construct short phrases later on sentences
Linda, I hope we can find a way to tell your story, broadly.
Perhaps Chips & NW can make your story a separate TOD post and we can all tweet it to bring attention the fact that you could very well have been killed.
So very regretful that you’ve had such a horrible experience.
thanks a lot for your concern;
some of the feelings as I walked home : confusion, fear, vulnerability and shame of being tagged as criminal
I feel actual physical pain for you, Linda
Thank you for this idea Bob - I just couldn’t think of anything to say at all - but you have found some words to say it all.
Thank you, 99. Had to dig deep to find some way to express support, in a positive way, since I was convulsed with anger (and still am).
You are very good at doing just that
{{{{{{Linda}}}}} go ahead and cry, get it out of your system. I am thankful that you are not physically harmed. It was a horrible experience. Cry tonight, then wake up Fired Up & Ready to Go in the morning.
thanks a lot for the encouragement;
yes, I will cry this out and also be grateful that I didn’t loose my otherwise hot temper;
on the bright side, I am very grateful to the mechanic who tried to help me out - has trusted me enough to take my car without paying toda and knowing that when I said I would bring come in tomorrow and pay him, my word was good enough
Let the good trust of your mechanic carry you tomorrow as you take care of your family business and throughout your day :-)
{{{GlobalCitizenLinda}}} - please don’t cry and wonder about these things. There is no rational answer to the questions you’re asking. There is a sickness brewing and it’s infecting people who might act more normally and with empathy under different circumstances.
I’m glad no physical harm came to you. The emotional scars will take longer to heal - but, just remember that not everyone is like this. There are still good people in the world. Take care of your errand tomorrow, and I hope your father is ok.
thanks a lot for your kind words;
I am one of those people who tends to ponder a lot so these questions kept coming into my mind even though I knew that I could not answer them;
I will follow your suggestion and think of the positive people & their acts - such as the mechanic who had told me that it was okay to take the car this evening and come back and pay him when I am ready and he is on site
That’s all you can do, Linda. At times, it seems like everything is going badly in the world, but there are a ton of good things happening that we don’t get to see. I saw an ad for a travel show today on BBC, and they were showing all these wonderful events going on around the world in the coming weeks, and I had to take a deep breath of warm spring air, and realize life is good - despite the bad things. As mentioned above, be gentle with yourself tonight - but don’t lose heart. There is good in the world.
Thanks for adding that, theo67, for Linda and the rest of us who are also feeling a bit of despair (even as bystanders).
{{Jacq}}
Dear Linda - I have no words - just none - but hugs {{{{{{Linda}}}}}} - I am crying too
My friend, I am so angry for you. I am just so disgusted……
Please know that I am so glad that you are safe. You and your family are in my prayers.
thanks a lot for your concern;
I found out in real time that it is very hard not to loose your temper and get yourself into trouble;
but the feeling of shame and fear were all mixed up with the astonishment and anger
thanks a lot for your kind words - we live in hope for a better world
{{{{{gcl}}}} I agree with Bobfr…we need to get this out there to a broader audience. Why did Valerie Jarrett’s name just pop into my head? Heart aches for you that you had to be subjected to this…they assumed guilt. Lucky you were female, I think.
thanks a lot for your thoughts and concern;
yes, I thought to myself that if I was a male, the results could have been different because the officer who held my hands in the back and took me to the cruiser was interacting with me in a very stern manner and he is the one who was touching his pistol - his eyes ……;
you, know this area well enough - so much going on all the time and especially the college kids being out and about and excited about March Madness;
I wish the person had asked me first if I was having car trouble then all this would not have been necessary;
by-standers can be a lot of help but when they mess up and convey wrong information to law enforcement, then tragedies may be the outcome;
I will be ready to resume my life tomorrow;
Linda - Just happened to think - you may have mentioned your intent to do this already, but please do let your mechanic know what happened. Sometimes business owners can have a little chat with the police who patrol that area, about procedures for leaving keys to pick up cars after hours, etc.
You know, I’ve always admired your spirit and determination here on the blog. You’ve already somewhat picked yourself up from this experience tonight, and I wanted to tell you how admirable that has been to watch, as well. Take care.
{{{{{ globalcitizenlinda <3 }}}}}
thanks a lot for your encouragement;
we continue to push ahead … one day at a time and hoping that tomorrow will be better that today
(((((globalcitizenlinda))))) words cannot express how I feel that someone watching thought you were stealing a car…..while sitting and talking on the phone because that’s what a car thief would do. I am all for citizens getting involved but they need to use some common sense, the same for police.
Oh Linda. I am sending you these virtual (((((((((((hugs)))))))))! We are here for you. No one should go thru this. I am so appalled at the way we do causally treat people. This is a community that cares.
So sorry to hear of your traumatic experience.
Aw honey what a nightmare! I’m relieved everything worked out in the end, it had to have horribly traumatic. I’ve felt just a fraction of that myself a few times being pulled over late at night. In Georgia, we all know the chance of getting stopped by some crazy redneck is high.
Anyway, do whatever you need to do recover from that shock. Cry, scream, rant, write, share. Find someone who gives generous hugs and dive in. Surround yourself with love - both here and at home. It’s the best antidote. {{{{{{{gcl}}}}}}.
(((((((((((Linda))))))))))) I wish I could give you a real hug… I am so sorry you had to go through this. Take time to heal.
GCL,
Late to this, but am impressed how clearly you relate this traumatic event.
There is so much messed up about US law enforcement — their absolute power and the swagger they display while exercising their damn “authority.” Hope that police training reminds the officer to say to themselves when they encounter a citizen that they are a public servant, not that they have absolute power over that person at that moment in time.
Agree with you about your gender — if this had happened to a young Black man (let’s imagine Barack Obama in 1985), the outcome could have escalated quickly into a heartwrenchingly tragic situation.
And WTF would that nosy bystander call the police — what an a**hole — police should be required to let “informers” know that the “informer” needs to re-evaluate what that person considers “suspicious” — yes, diversity training for our ignorant citizens would be a good start.
This could have happened to any member of TODville who resides in the US — I would be shaking rage after this incident, after a long exhausting day of fighting with a disabled car, unresolved problem and having to deal with unnegotiable bus schedules — just can’t see how officers could consider a single woman a threat in any way.
Thank you, GLC for sharing with us, who share your outrage.
I hope the story of your experience reaches a larger audience. ((( GCL )))
I am so truly sorry.
In the land of the Free? I am ashamed that this nonsense continues daily. Shade a light to it. We the people must.
Please take heart. I am so very sorry.
It’s like the GOP have succeeded in taking the country back 50 years. Racists are crawling out of the woodwork.
The lesson for younger generations is to NOT be complacent; they can’t let anyone convince them that racism of the “old days” is over. It’s taught and passed down to younger generations.
It’s like a cancer. The work and sacrifices of the Jim Crow era may have driven it back, but overt acts are gradually coming out of remission.
They are a minority. They just have loud voices and appear to be everywhere, but they’re just echoes amplifying their own evil message. We have to shame them, make the realize that they may feel they are in large numbers, but the majority of people are just horrified by their existence.
So true.
GE TODville, congrats on 30 million to Chips and NW.
Appending #Dallas incident of Jason Harrison carrying a screwdriver — he had the same chance as Tamir Rice in Cleveland…
And speaking of Cleveland, this just in…
IMHO, these incidents have been going on since this nation was founded, it’s only now getting attention.
Never thought I’d quote something from “TheHill” ….
“These are the guys, he and President Bush and some others, who invented Daesh, or ISIS,” Penn said, using the Arabic name for the terror group, on TBS’s “Conan.”
“I mean, they really are that which created it, and so I wanted to give him a shout-out,” he added of Cheney. “Thanks for that.”
Penn also called Cheney an “embittered bacteria of humanity” and wondered how the vice president, who has struggled with heart disease, is still alive. “It’s always a surprise to me to remember that, through bionic technology and so on, this guy’s still here,” Penn said.
“We have people like Harvey Milk, who were beautiful, brilliant, impactful guys, and, you know — it’s just no good deed goes unpunished, and then you’ve got the Cheneys. This is just me musing.”
http://t.co/Lxa1LTWdyk
Seems like the sight of Cheney causes a lot of people to think thoughts that should never be uttered.
Sean Penn’s always been a strong activist. Glad for that, in stark contrast to other showbiz personalities like Jon Voight, Pat Sajak, or Robert Duvall who go full wingnut.
Those in power (whites) are completely clueless about what it would be like to be powerless…
OK, spineless Dems, can you take *this* ball and run with it, and support YOUR President???
And what #TBT would be complete without mentioning he who shall not be named?
The #Cheney tweet - perfect
#TruthAndReconciliation is for WHITE AMERICANS to lead, as you all know, is my firm conviction ….
… bbl …. or, as amk would say, ‘sup’ …..
Tomorrow is the first day of Spring, and PBO has done a sh*tload of interviews in less than 90 days…
Sue Duvall Smith mentioned on the previous thread that her brother lived in Barrow AK last year.
This allegedly happened in Fort Wainwright, Alaska…

“The Army is investigating allegations that a platoon of soldiers was given a free pass to use racial slurs against each other during what was known as “‘Racial Thursdays.'”
All I can say is that sunlight is the best disinfectant.
@JeffreyGoldberg compares Bibi to Lee Atwater:
So……he has now admitted that EVERYTHING he says is a lie…..PBO knew this all along, and now the world should.

What happened NW?
#unohoo - Pakistan 1/20
2/24
New post doesn’t appear.
Is that the comment NW made above - ****** ?
Could be. It’s strange because I received a notice for a new post by NW but it doesn’t appear here.
It was up for a bit, and then probably deferred.
Looks as though it was deferred.
Good explanation.
Ha. It was all I had.
Quoting Dr. Maddow, the talks (US-Iran) are now to the nuclear details. Love it!
YAY! Olivia got her groove back😄
Thought I’d pop in and share some Japanese jazz in honor of FLOTUS trip.
Hi Dudette - following the cricket? amk is busy working & Chips says it’s cancelled cause Ireland lost - 5/156
Meanwhile I’ll check out the FLOTUS music - thank you
make that 6/158 - Aussie doing OK so far
G’Day 99ts! :-)
Sad to say I know even less about cricket than I do football (soccer to us arrogant yanks). Doubt my short attention span could handle that game. Wow, i don’t know how the scoring works, but that looks like a proper walloping to me. Poor Chips. Hope your team is doing okay.
My team has to make 214 - doable as amk would say if he was here - everything crossed
Ah! Best of luck then! :-D
Sukiyaki — A classic :-)
dood comes back from business meetings to see pakis folding for 213 and then the aussies struggling to overhaul such a small score. pakis is known for defending small scores. great contest between the bat and the ball especially watson facing continuous chin music from riaz with the pak dropping a sitter of a catch. It’s going to be a thrillah.
paks need a wicket here. aussies slowly pulling away.
and they get one. and what a wicket too. steve smith was the one taking the game away from pakis. It’s not over yet.
paging 99ts
Oy - I was paging you earlier - lucky that the Oz team can field cause they aren’t doing so good with the bat
just got back from meeting about an hour ago. Yup, the aussies’ famed batting power took a knock today. Ugly shots from watson and maxwell. Not cricketing shots at all. Both got lucky with stupid dropped catches. If only pakis had put another 30-40 runs, they could have easily won it, Miserable pakis fielding.
And I was having to ask Dudette if she was interested in discussing the game :)
:) I am sure we educated the murkans about real sports a bit this season.
and a second dropped catch. terrible show by the pak fielders. poor riaz is the loser for the second time today. He is bowling his heart out. with that dropped catch, pakis dropped the ball and the semifinal spot. literally.
and aussies sure aren’t living up their the favorites to win this wc tag. If they win this match, it’s all due to pure luck.
Also too - meant to tell you - this match is n=on the TV - talk about partisan media - only show on free to air when Oz is playing. One thing I’ve always liked about cricket - people enjoy the game - regardless as to who is playing - but according to the Australian media - if Australia isn’t playing, no-one wants to watch - sigh
I’m off - to hopefully see them wrap this up - back at 214
Well bgosh - the sure picked up at the end - 34 overs - did you see that last 6! Almost into the rafters. Dropped catch - what a difference it can make.
yup. mad max can hit with the best of them.
And it’s curtains for pakistanis. Their batting and 3rd rate fielding let them down. Their bowlers, especially riaz, did their best.
And aussies weren’t that great today. So I would put us at 51-49 odds to win our semis.
6.37am - got to stop this “tie” business :) We did OK - I’ll stay with 50:50 - hope it’s a good game - catch you later
Oh, it will b Gunnite ts. It was fun having you for the company. Otherwise, I was coming across as a loony that I am. :)
And there was me suggesting that Dudette start following the cricket so I wasn’t talking to myself. Just left to sort the chores - all done :) Great wife has Mr 99!
Maybe it was a tactical move for Pakistan players to drop catches to avoid looking at the eclipse.
lol.
Sunday Times cricket correspondent Simon Wilde: Before Australia get too pleased with themselves, they should know that India, New Zealand and South Africa can field.
egg.sack.lee. They can’t pull this shit with us. Some of the shots from watson and mad max were just horrendous and a blight on cricket.
“They can’t pull this shit with us.”
And that remains to be seen - there may be a minor international issue on TOD if this criticism of the world’s best cricket team continues!
oh, I already warned bt there is gonna be gory blood letting come 26th.
Moooooooorning!
