Good Morning Don & congrats on being the 1st in line. Hope you had a peaceful holiday. If I remember rightly, this is your 1st Holidays without your Mother. ((((hugs))) to you and yours.
Congratulations, Don. Morning, Chips and TODers. Chips, we are all still melting from the phenomenal “Small People” video and now this! Makes me miss my granddaugter!
Good Morning All…Hope you have a wonderful day today.
My questions for the day…Why aren’t the Democrats talking on the bully pulpit about the negativity of the GOP especially now with this new video on the recruitment featuring the one and only Donald Trump?
Here’s my take, Marlz. We are the democratic party and though we may not go on tv and afford ads, we can do everything in our power to help make videos and facts known through all our considerable social networks, as well as friends, family and neighbors. The one thing I know for sure-Hillary Clinton knows how to defend herself and is well-funded; President Obama will be campaigning like 2016 is 2008 all over again. I believe he will leave no stone unturned to ensure he has a Democratic successor.
Just LOOK at those cuties! Morning everyone:) Congrats, Don:) Also, too…congrats to me! Today is my anniversary….35 years of bliss, I say:) I also say that we’ve been married this long because I have such a damn good sense of humor!
Thank you, jackieg…unfortunately no romantic dinner for us…he’s working in PA and he was home for Christmas for a few days and then off he went! I’m sure that we’ll do something nice when he gets back home….maybe we’ll Facetime today…it’s all good. Thank you for your kind wishes:)
Thanks Chips… surely been an odyssey, that’s for sure:) Good and bad….but he makes me laugh…and in the end, we just all need a little more laughter in our lives, don’t we?
It does, I am so darned independent, I haven’t met anyone that would let me be me. Plus, I couldn’t find anyone that I trust to help raise my boys. :-) I guess, I had a bad experience. But am so happy for those that have great marriages. I just made a terrible mistake.
Happy Anniversary DF!!!! I know it takes a great sense of humor to last in a marriage. We all know about the ups and downs. So glad you made it thru those rough years and that times are better. Hope you have a scrumptious dinner planned.
You know what I think we should do? (Talking about laughing) If we see one of these dickless wonders walking around loaded for bear…we should ask to take their photo….if thousands of these are posted in social media, with captions just pointing out the totally ridiculous absurdity of open carry…maybe they’ll just be shamed into oblivion.
Df, I think to feel ‘shame’ you have to have some self-awareness. I’m afraid the people who carry these guns don’t do much thinking. It’s all instinct-fear, paranoia, insecurity.
Yesterday, I pushed beyond my endurance to take down all outdoor Christmas lights, wreaths and garlands, front and back and every indoor decoration, including the tree. AND then sort, box and store them all. Now everything looks bare and kinda bleak and every muscle in my body is screaming. When all the decorations went up the weather was warm and balmy. Yesterday was cold and windy. And so it goes.
Jackie, I started on mine yesterday too. But have to go to my storage unit to get the containers and boxes. And it is cold today. so far 16 WC 8. :-( I am going to have to wait until it gets al little warmer today. :-)
It’s a big job to do all of that in one day. Hope you can relax and drink some tea/coffee and enjoy TOD.
Roberta, your approach is far more sensible than just barreling through to get something. I’m planning a long nap today. Hope you, too, have a restful day.
I swear Chips is trying to mess with my mind! I peeped in about an hour ago and would have sworn I saw that same picture with a January 1st date at the top.
The libertarian-conservative ethic of “get rich any way you can? combined with a stubborn dismissal of objective fact makes political conservatism especially ripe for con artistry. It is no accident that Richard Viguerie was able to conduct his mail fundraising scams on the backs of GOP voters. It’s no accident that the tea party has been home to one grifter after another making a quick buck. American conservatism is the home of quack televangelists and secular Ayn Rand-spouting hucksters alike. Fox News itself is a long con perpetrated on fearful, older white Americans with the goal of making Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes rich while keeping Republican politicians in power. Donald Trump is merely the latest in a long line of egomaniacal scammers willing to play the same group of people for fools.
Honestly, Don…this put into the exact words what I have always known to be true but could never say quite the way he did. I thought this was excellent…and those that would lean towards voting Republican should think twice…they just aren’t that into you. Never were.
GOOD MORNING TOD FAMILY….I LOVE THE SMALL PEOPLE VIDEO AND PLANTED THAT SEED ON MY FB…………………….I SEE BY THE NEWS AND FOREIGN BLUES THAT VLAD IS SO SAD AND CONSIDERS THE US TO BE A THREAT TO RUSSIAN SECURITY…JUST YOU WAIT UNTIL SOME LIGHT GOES INTO THAT TUNNEL!…THAT’S IT VLAD..PICK UP THE SOAP BAR AND SMILE!
EVEN THO I HATE IT WHEN PBO IS GONE…SOMEHOW I WISH HIS VACATION TIME WERE LONGER…DC IS LIKE MY HOUSE…NOT MUCH TO COME HOME TO……………….HAVE TO DRINK LOTS OF COFFEE AND GET INTO THE ERRAND MODE TODAY!…I LOVE MY PRESIDENT…MY BROTHER…MY FRIEND…AND MORE COMFORTING FOR A CHILD THAN A DRY PAMPER!
THIS WILL SHOW YOU WHERE I AM WITH TECH CAPABILITIES…I HATE THEM…JUST RETURNED MY GALAXY 5 AND WENT BACK TO A REGULAR CELLPHONE…IT’S CHEAPER AND I’M HAPPY! IT’S LIKE A CALCULATOR…IF YOU NEED TO GO ANY HIGHER…TAKE YOUR SOX OFF!..GOT IT?
some one should go do a side-by-side graphics of each year of dumbya vs kenyan usurper presidency on key economy factors like jobs, stock market, economy growth rate, insured rate, GDP, exports, UE etc.
Yes, Happy Anniversary to you both. I “get” his not being home for this. Wth all my husband’s hiking the past few years, he’s missed an anniversary or two and also my birthday’s. We are approaching 47 years so we are able to “go with it” and both be okay. So thankful for each other and that we have fairly good health. Those are the things that matter the most.
:) First time in a long time that I remember him being gone for our anniversary…it’s totally fine. When he was gone with Navy business, we missed important dates then, too. Doesn’t bother me. Happy New Year:)
Congratulations on your 35th anniversary and looking forward to your move to SoCal. Your move will be just in time for my retirement too. We’ll all be able to hang out and be one of the SoCal TODDIES :):):) or WONKETTES.
Thank you, carolyn:) Happy New Year to you. I hope this year is good to you and that you find peace and happiness in your heart. He’ll always be beside you…wanting only good things for you. Make him smile, and you will smile, too.
what in the world is wrong with some of these leaders around the world?
it would be obvious to anyone that to beat back the turmoil from the extremists, governments need to moderate their own extreme positions ….. because one can’t condemn a despot when everyone in the world knows you are also a despot.
but gangster rulers across the world are just increasing their disgusting gangster behavior;
in Africa, more dictators are ignoring the masses and the constitutions and seeking more terms in office;
more turmoil is bound to follow;
Ps, in relation to public beheadings in Saudi Arabia:
I believe that one of the arguments for US ending the death penalty at the Federal and State levels is that it would give us more moral standing in condemning and trying to change these barbaric practices around the world. otherwise, we seem like hypocrites when there are some states reinstating firing squads, electric chairs and all kinds of state-sanctioned death methods
Agree fully, gclinda …. and, we can move #FORWARD on being way less hypocritical if the true majority of ethical, empathetic Americans will DO just ONE thing - VOTE in every election.
Getting America off foreign SA oil and more invested in clean, renewable energy was a gigantic foreign policy accomplishment for the President that so many people refuse to acknowledge or see. Having done this, we are not beholden to the whims of a foreign govt…like this one…and can do it better on our own. This is what TRUE American Exceptionalism means…and has only been done because PBO worked so hard to achieve it!! They can flood the world with their cheap fossil fuels, but no one of merit is buying…we’ve all moved on to solar and wind and biofuels….day late, dollar short. Pretty soon no one will need what SA is selling…and they will be alone in the world with all the other bad apples just like them…and not fully participating in the world economy!
Df, I hope to see the day when this prediction comes through. One of the greatest achievements of PBO’s administration was moving us beyond dependence on SA oil.
Bernie Sanders as President….he is a wild card…we have no idea about any of his FP positions cause he never states them…even on domestic policy all we get from him is platitudes…
I’m no fan of Hillary and I have not forgotten the dog-whistles from 2008. But Bernie and many of the Bernie Bots are perpetrators of the same thinly veiled racism and, as you said, Bernie’s policies have not been clearly defined. He is all anger and populism. He has criticized PBO all along; even the recent Climate agreement was not acceptable for him.
At least HRC has had a bit of a CTJ aspect to her campaign recently. She obviously reigned in that godawful Kathleen Kennedy woman from behind the scenes and seems (so far anyway) to have realized that she cannot win without the Obama coalition.
No one will be another PBO - not for a long time, if ever. I had hoped for VP Biden, who beautifully stated, “I am not a populist; I am a realist. I believe in getting things done.”
At this time I am most interested in who will best preserve PBO’s accomplishments. I will vote for competence, and I am afraid Bernie Sanders would be a disaster in the office of President. I fear he would be out in one term and we would get 12 years of Repubs to follow.
I am having a very sad day as I sit with my cat, Sophie, who is dying. Is a darling kitty, full of spunk and personality. She weighed only about 6 pounds dripping wet, but kept everyone in the household, including my 17 pound kitty, in line with her iron-fisti-in-velvet-paw rule. She had only to stare implacably at the big (and ill-tempered) kitty to make her back down and go away muttering to herself. I will miss her immensely.
Oh, maryl1….so sorry to hear this news… :( No matter how many times we do this, it never gets any easier. My heart goes out to you and to Sophie (I had a cat named Sophie once, too) Hold her close…she knows that you love her….
Maryl1,
I am holding you and Sophie in my prayers at this moment and I want to tell you a story about a male cat of mine who died several years ago at the age of 19. At 19 he was in bad shape, but still hanging in there and I used to sit with him, hold him and tell him the story of how I found him (in a restaurant parking lot with his litter mates). One difficult morning, seeing how his illnesses were taking their toll, I told him to let me know when he was ready to go.
That afternoon, I pulled into the local grocery store parking lot and saw a shoe box sitting inside a shopping cart. Something inside me told me to look. It was filled with one-day-old kittens, abandoned without their mother. I took them to the local emergency vet, who taught me how to give them formula, keep them warm and wipe their booties after they ate. A few days later my old man kitty got up from the bed in the middle of the night and I saw that he was paralyzed from the waist down. Sadly, I knew this was the time. I drove to the emergency vet and said goodbye. After waking up and going to sleep with him for 19 years, I was devastated.
That morning, I had one of those dreams that is more than a dream - that seemed real. In it, one of my guardian angels was holding my 19 year old and handing him to me. I said to myself in the dream “It’s him! It’s really him!” Then, I had a vision that he was floating down from above me; he landed on the bed and turned into one of the baby kitties I had just rescued.
Now, I don’t pretend to know how it all works between this world and the next, but one of those baby kitties grew up to be almost exactly like my 19 year old! - same mannerisms, same quirks, same personality, same eating and drinking habits! Friends of mine, who had known my 19 year old were amazed and exclaimed that it was like he was the same cat! I KNEW it was him. To this day I KNOW that my current boy kitty is my previous one returned to me and I tell him all the time how grateful I am that he came back for another round with me :-) (he and his sister will be 14 this year).
As I said, I have no idea how time and space works between the worlds, but my ideas about life and death were profoundly affected by this experience.
I know this will not change the fact that you are losing a dear friend, but I hope that this story is of some comfort to you. Our furry loved ones do return to us, I am convinced of that. At the very least, that connection of love continues and unites us across the veil - both human and animal souls. You and Sophie will always be connected by your love for each other. May love and light surround you both now and going forward.
Thank you for sharing that story, MadameSoph, thank you for your prayers. That is a beautiful and comforting story. I know that when Sophie leaves here she will be in good hands. I tell that my old cat, Eleanor, will be waiting to play with her. Thank you again; I will treasure it.
I took her in Wednesday. She had had a stuffy nose for a little while and then I noticed she wasn’t eating and was losing weight I changed food and put her dish up a little higher so she wouldn’t have to put her head down so far because I thought the stuffiness was making it difficult to eat.She seemed to be eating more and even gained a little weight, but I took her in anyway. The vet said there was no infection but she hadn’e gained weight; she was retaining water. At first the vet thought it was her kidneys or liver failing but the bloodwork showed those were okay. He thinks it’s a malignancy. Treatment is an expense I couldn’t meet and he said that the chances for a cure were very, very slim. We decided to give her an antihistamine to make sure she could breathe and to perk up her appetite, and a diuretic to help with the water. I gave them to her Thursday and Friday, but she had pretty much stopped eating. It was a big struggle getting her to take the pills. This morning she was a lot weaker. She refuses to eat or drink. I tried spooning water into her mouth, and putting tuna juice on her paw so she would lick it off but she just turns away. Since she is breathing well, and had lost some water, and not gained any more. I made the decision not to continue force feeding her the pills. She didn’t understand it and it just made her frantic. My vet is away until Monday. I know there is nothing more to be done. We are just lying on the bed together. I have decided to just wait with her as long as she is not distressed, but if things become more difficult I will take her to the urgent care clinic. I know it’s silly, but my family have been going to this vet for 30 years and I’d rather take her to him rather than a stranger, if at all possible.
Oh, tears. The love and care and tenderness you are showing Sophie is a joy to behold, Mary, she will slip away so peacefully, in the presence of that sweet human being who rescued her and gave her a lovely life. You’re a gem, thinking of you.
Well said, MadameSoph~ I was not for Hillary at all in 2008 and one of her biggest critics.. but, I, personally, can see how she’s evolved since then.. President Obama chose her to be his SOS and said it was one of his best decisions. They now are friends and I do believe he wants her to be the next Democratic President.
BS wanted PBO primaried in 2012 and has lied about him so much since then.. even his wife lied about Pres Obama in something I read. I think they’re full of disgusting crap. And, yes.. sanders really showed himself again when he sniffed at the President’s Paris Climate Change Agreement. Whereas Hillary had a gracious, appreciative statement. Acknowledging what it took for it to all come about.
Thank you!
This was suppose to be under MadameSoph’s post but it would let me post it.
1st!
Good Morning Don…Congrats on First!
Moooooooooorning Don, moooooooorning everyone!!

Congratulations to you and your husband, Df. I hope you have a romantic champagne dinner on your calendar today!!!

Haaaaaaaaappy Anniversary DesertFlower, love and hugs to you and Mr DF!!
Thanks Chips… surely been an odyssey, that’s for sure:) Good and bad….but he makes me laugh…and in the end, we just all need a little more laughter in our lives, don’t we?
Congratulation on your 35 years of wonderful bliss, desertflower, and yes, humor does come in handy in a marriage at times.

Hmmmm…..
Divorced Don.
Ha!
Congratulations to YOU, Roberta!!If that makes you happy, I’m happy too!
It does, I am so darned independent, I haven’t met anyone that would let me be me. Plus, I couldn’t find anyone that I trust to help raise my boys. :-) I guess, I had a bad experience. But am so happy for those that have great marriages. I just made a terrible mistake.
Nothin’ like it! ;)
Happy Anniversary DF…
Thanks, Marlz:)
Happy Anniversary DF!!!! I know it takes a great sense of humor to last in a marriage. We all know about the ups and downs. So glad you made it thru those rough years and that times are better. Hope you have a scrumptious dinner planned.

Happy Happy Anniversary DF. Wish you and Mr. DF a ton more years of giddy marital bliss. Cheers!!!! :D
Congratulations to you and Mr. DF on your 35th anniversary. I can’t believe that on July 26th it will be my 30th anniversary.
Ahh, America, the home of the dumb and the land of the cowardly. Morning, AMK. I know it’s late in the day for you, but I hope you have a good one.
I don’t know about that, these people are already on edge. Do you really want to confront one of these psychos?
Df, I think to feel ‘shame’ you have to have some self-awareness. I’m afraid the people who carry these guns don’t do much thinking. It’s all instinct-fear, paranoia, insecurity.
Funny…I don’t remember them being “scared” BEFORE the black guy….
I agree.
THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!….
and
Congrats on your Anniversary….
Thanks, prettyfoot:)
I can’t imagine sitting in my local Cheesecake Factory and one of these assholes walks in with a rifle strapped to his ass.
Scared of a damn cheesecake. Maybe they’ll shoot them all up so the rest of us don’t have to choose just one.
We had our usual terror attack today. Luckily, the casualty count was only two while 5 terrorists were killed.
Yesterday, I pushed beyond my endurance to take down all outdoor Christmas lights, wreaths and garlands, front and back and every indoor decoration, including the tree. Good morning, TOD! Doing a “Hi - Bye” here — chores and errands beckon…
Just wanted to share this vid that Kirk Whalum posted; Natalie Cole sits in at about the 6:29 mark. Enjoy!
His caption didn’t show up:
“..one night in Portland when Natalie Cole stopped by our gig after her show and sat in on a tune. RIP ‪#‎NatalieCole‬”
National treasure…she will be missed.

Bernie Sanders as President….he is a wild card…we have no idea about any of his FP positions cause he never states them…even on domestic policy all we get from him is platitudes…
i am between a rock and hard place,,,,
I’m no fan of Hillary and I have not forgotten the dog-whistles from 2008.

Thank you, vc. I appreciate that very much.
Oh, maryl1….so sorry to hear this news… :( No matter how many times we do this, it never gets any easier. My heart goes out to you and to Sophie (I had a cat named Sophie once, too) Hold her close…she knows that you love her….
I hope so, df. I keep telling her that. :)
I hope so, desertflower. I keep telling her that. :)
Maryl1,
I am holding you and Sophie in my prayers at this moment and I want to tell you a story about a male cat of mine who died several years ago at the age of 19.
Thank you again; I will treasure it.
huggs Mary
Thank you, pf. I am just feeling a little lonely right now. Hugs, even virtual ones, help.
{{Mary}}, I’m so sorry about Sophie. I will keep you both in my prayers.
Thank you very much, sjterrid. I appreciate it deeply.
New post.
