    SHAMING TIME!

    DT is out there tweeting that HRC only won the popular vote count because “millions” of “illegal aliens” voted. That is bad enough, but CBS puts it out there with credibility. This, btw, is based on an article on Infowars that cites tweets. Please help shame CBS for this ridiculous spreading of fake news. These news organizations have to get it through their heads that it is their JOB to refute these lies, even if the come from the idiot.

    I have so much to be thankful for, first I’m thankful for my lovely wife for constantly putting up with my nonsense. I’m thankful that my son takes after his mother than me. And I’m thankful that Tiger Woods is back playing golf and will tee it up this week at the Hero World Challenge.

    http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/11/27/13758538/donald-trump-vote-illegally-tweet

    There’s much to say on this, but here are a few of the obvious points:

    Trump has lost the thread of his own argument. The point of Trump’s tweets was to dismiss those questioning the legitimacy of the vote. “The Green Party scam to fill up their coffers by asking for impossible recounts is now being joined by the badly defeated & demoralized Dems,” he tweeted, adding, “Nothing will change.” But here, Trump undermined himself. If Democrats worry the votes were miscounted, and the president-elect believes that millions of people voted fraudulently, then it’s clear we need a recount to restore faith in the outcome of the election.

      November 27, 2016 at 6:29 pm

      This tweet is an example of Trump’s most dangerous quality: his tendency to mobilize against a threatening, sometimes imaginary Other whenever he himself is under siege. There is no evidence of significant voter fraud from this election. But Trump is telling his supporters that voting fraud did in fact happen, and that they should therefore worry that their political power will be overwhelmed by illegal voters.

      AND THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD SAY TO CBS AND THE OTHER “NEWS” SITES THAT WILL UNDOUBTEDLY FOLLOW>>> THIS IS BULLSHIT! The “voter issues” that there REALLY ARE, are the ones that took place in regards to voter purges in Republican states, and the disenfranchisement of legal voters! THAT’S the REAL VOTER FRAUD!

    • November 27, 2016 at 6:35 pm

      I just posted this tweet, df, and then returned to TOD and see what you’ve posted!!

      Trump has – most likely because his pathological narcissism completely disables his ability to be the least be rational – not only conceded he’s millions behind in the popular vote (i.e., in a democracy HE LOST), but he has denied the validity of the election, itself.

      A national recount, at a minimum, must now happen.

      Our young Nation and democracy are now in uncharted territory …

      This just pushed me over the top today DF. By the time this man is through, there will be nothing left of our democratic institutions. Already half the country can’t tell the difference between fake news and facts, and now we have a PE who just flat out lies daily. Not sure if it is his ego, he is trying to divert from his conflicts highlighted by the NYT this weekend, or he is setting everyone up for further efforts to suppress the vote and make it even more difficult for millions of Americans to vote. But whatever is the motivation, it is wrong. I shudder to think of trying to survive 4 years of this garbage. And our damn media is the biggest fail. They just repeat this stuff as DT says when the headlines should be he LIED–again!

      Trump will be tweeting nonsense like this for the rest of his term, he’s not beholding to honesty or truthfulness. He can tweet whatever he wants to tweet because in his mind the ends justify the means. In his mind this tweet makes perfect sense to him regardless of how idiotic you and I think this tweet is. What we can do is call him out on every idiotic statement or tweet he makes. His tweets will become his press conferences, they are his way of making a statement and not having to answer questions about it. Even though some in the media have given him a free ride he still does not want to stand before the press and end up looking like the fool he really is, so let him tweet away.

        I know that Don, and still can’t get my head around it. Prior to Barack Hussein Obama I was so jaded about all politicians, but even with those you didn’t expect these kind of blatant lies. Truth has absolutely no meaning to him, and to think of all those months he accused everyone else of being crooked and lying. Guess the only recourse is to assume every single thing he says is false. Nice.

    Never mind that alleging massive voter fraud hardly serves his cause — people are saying he was beaten by a girl! Outrage!

    This is your president-elect, Trumpkins. You were taken in by a not-too-bright conman. That makes you an especially idiotic mark.

    Had you only squandered your life sayings on a hard-sell shakedown disguised as a real estate course, it wouldn’t be any of my business, except perhaps as a concerned citizen who wants to shut down similar scams.

    But with your vote, you made me and mine collateral damage to the con you signed up for, and second-class citizens into the bargain.

    Wanted to “send a message,” did you? Well, message received, motherfucker: You don’t give a shit about this country that you’ve entrusted to a lunatic. Never dare to question my patriotism again.

    So, he’s all yours, Trumpkins. Defend his petty vendettas at the cost of your soul. Or sack up and join the resistance.

        November 27, 2016 at 7:32 pm

        To Frum, Trump isn’t a true Republican, in Frum’s eyes Trump is a pretender. Trump hasn’t drunk the Republican Kool-Aid, the Republicans might impeach Trump just to make Pence President. Pence is a true believer of the Republican way.

          I don’t think that’s it Don, see my post below. But the problem the GOP has in terms of their careers is the electorate did not elect Pence, who many of DT’s supporters would just see as another typical politician. So it will be years, if ever, before the GOP does anything to try to stop this train wreck.

      • 50 FoxfireTX
        November 27, 2016 at 7:51 pm

        Frum has been near hysterical since the election. He believes DT is going to destroy our democracy in a way that is irreparable. I listen to a podcast, Left, Right and Center, each week. He was a guest the Friday after the election and just was out there on how much he believes DT will do. He urged everyone NOT to focus on the normal political differences but on the things that are unconstitutional or destroying well established norms. I suspect that part of his concern is he doesn’t believe the current GOP will do anything to stop him, and of course on that he appears to be correct. A bunch of cowards who only care about their careers.

          FF, you might just be right, but I believe that Trump isn’t wedded to the same sacred cows that Republicans are wedded to. Two seconds after Trump won(conditionally) LOL he started talking about keeping parts of Obamacare. The Republicans want to burn Obamacare down to the ground, something has to give.

            I agree on that Don,and even worse, at some point DT will stiff Ryan just because he can. But Frum is way beyond that. His exact quote from that podcast, that actually scared the hell out of me, was if DT does or says something that you might expect Cruz to do or say, it’s just politics and you accept it as part of the election. It’s all these other things that will destroy us.

            And it’s really hard to see some of the small things going by the wayside. Crazy, but I always loved when PBO took the girls out shopping for small business Saturday. Didn’t happen this year. He’s got be incredibly frustrated given his efforts to teach him something about being CIC and then DT goes completely off the rails as he did today.

                  Putin has been working on all of this for years. He and everybody else in the world knows that the US is at its weakest point in recent history and some will obviously take advantage of that fact. As long as the US remained strong, he only dared meddle so far. But now that the u.s. is weakened he is feeling much freer to do as he pleases. It is a very scary time for the world and there will be significant realignment in coming years. I suspect we are going to see a change in the world order unlike anything since the end of World War II.

He knows he still is not wanted in that “elite NYC crowd” that he has craved to be part of his entire life. And while he used to view himself as part of the Hollywood crowd, that is gone as well. Hell, they can’t even get anyone to perform for his inauguration:-) And it just may be sinking in that for the next four years he is going to be criticized constantly. Some here and elsewhere may disagree, but President Obama now faces the gravest threat of his Presidency – far graver than a potential depression and everything else he encountered in Dec 2008 – and it’s inescapable that he must act to save our democracy and society from certain disaster if this dude Trump is inaugurated.

    Wish it were otherwise, folk, but America, at its darkest hour – which is NOW – couldn’t be more fortunate that Barack Hussein Obama is President.

      Bob, I share your anguish and I do #TrustBarack. always have and always will. And I have little doubt that he is constantly monitoring this and checking out every angle. We know he is a great strategist, and I have no doubt that his gravest concern is preserving our republic. I am afraid, however, that based on what we’ve seen to date, he has concluded that this has to play itself out. Attempting to interfere in the election might well provoke a civil war. I haven’t seen one single DT voter who regrets his or her vote. I also suspect he is pushing to the extent he can behind the scenes, not just DT but also GOP leaders in Congress. Unfortunately, as we all know, they are utterly feckless. It is so depressing.

      • November 28, 2016 at 1:23 am

        “I am afraid, however, that based on what we’ve seen to date, he has concluded that this has to play itself out.”

        I’m not one of that “we’ve” Foxfire given that I learned long ago that President Obama is going to abide by the Constitution. Neither the Constitution or the Framers intent in creating the Electoral College can be used to justify Trump becoming President.

        Trump is absolutely every abomination that the Framers feared should such a person actually receive a majority of the votes.

        In this case, Trump is losing by 2+ million votes.

        Thus, it is entirely unreasonable to think that the Framers would ever have intended or approved of the Electoral College electing him.

        Trump has not only lost the vote, he is every abomination that they feared might somehow become President.

        For Trump to be President both “One Person, One Vote” and the intended role of the Electoral College will have been obliterated.

        I will not only be shocked, I will be deeply saddened if your prediction proves correct – that the final chapter of Barack Obama’s legacy as President is that he just watched as an unprecedented and likely irrevocable travesty ‘plays itself out.’

          Bob, you’re preaching to the choir here. I have not slept one full night since this election was called for Trump. I just don’t see that this is on PBO. There is nothing in the Constitution that gives him any power to change this. It is now on the electors. And the ones you want to change are Republicans. And as far as I can tell, they haven’t cared for years if they destroy this country in the process of pursuing their agenda.

          • November 28, 2016 at 1:17 pm

            We have a profound difference of opinion regarding the role of the President of the United States, Foxfire.

            I’ve expressed mine directly to President Obama.

            =========================

            27 November 2016

            Dear Mr President,

            Neither the Constitution or the Framers intent in creating the Electoral College can be used to justify Trump becoming President.

            Trump is absolutely every abomination that the Framers feared in the event that such a person actually received a majority of the votes.

            In this case, Trump is losing by 2+ million votes.

            Thus, it is entirely unreasonable to think that the Framers would ever have intended or approved of the Electoral College electing him.

            For Trump to be President both “One Person, One Vote” and the intended role of the Electoral College will have been obliterated.

            I will not only be shocked, I will be deeply saddened if the final chapter of your otherwise stunning legacy as President is that you did not publicly and privately do everything possible to prevent the literal destruction of our democracy, and the installation of a demonstrably unstable, corrupt demagogue.

            Sincerely,
            Bob

            ============================
            Whether he reads it, is not the issue.

            History will focus on these days of his Presidency likely more than any other day since 20 Jan 2009. No comparable threat to our democracy or ideals, other than the Civil War, is squarely on his desk. It’s what it is.

    – gop politicians and donors,

    – the majority of media,

    – opportunistic & limelight-seeking celebrities who have not demonstrated lasting commitment to social justice,

    – the bulk of eternally-scared Democratic elected officials,

    – a self-aggrandizing democratic socialist who is more focused on attacking Democrats than gop & constantly ignores the resilience of the ObamaCoalition & their reliability as voters;

    – betrayed & disappointed voters who wanted to get their country back;

    ;

    instead, this is one of those moments where leadership will come from:

    – We, The People, who are committed to socio-economic justice, racial justice, environmental justice, the human rights of all people, global peace etc;

    – networking with others with similar commitment domestically and across the world;

    yes this is a scary moment but it is also an incredible moment if people of good will dare to seize it and do whatever we can to contribute to this collective effort;

    I really don’t know what more President Obama can do as it relates to Donald Trump. For the last eighteen months President Obama has laid bare for all voters to see what a Trump Presidency would look like. And the voters still went ahead and picked Trump, short of refusing to leave the Whitehouse I seriously don’t know what more President Obama can do. We also must consider the tremendous amount of stress and strain President Obama has been under for the last eight years, he has to be tired and worn out, any human being would be. What more must we demand of him, but more importantly, what does he have left to give?

      I would not demand one more action from our President … but I think he has other plans. At least through January. There’s talk he’s been having “regular” communication with Trump. Far beyond what the rest of us could ever handle, I think he’s figured out Trump already … is playing it for all its worth. I think he’s feeding him thoughts and Trump is buying them. All for the good of our country.

    I hope that this is another of those jokes ……

    did you also hear that Fabio (yes, the Fabio, aka former male model with long hair, aka failed actor, aka former cover picture of romantic novels) is one of the people advising the demagogue;

    per reports, he was one of the advisors who were recently assembled in Florida ….

      All I heard was that he was one of their Thanksgiving dinner guests, in Florida. But I wouldn’t be surprised with anything, at this point.

    We only have a couple more months of the Obama Presidency. NW led this Post with “We’re Thankful for President Obama” and yet, the majority of the comments posted here are anything but what we’re thankful for President Obama.

    We should be flooding the Posts with love letters and memories to and about President Obama.

    When we look back at these Posts I fear we’re going to be filled with regret that we didn’t honor the name TOD to the very last.

    I’m thankful that PBO believed that “we” could work together and restore America from the brink of a recession.

    I’m thankful that PBO put us and our needs before his.

    I’m thankful that PBO and his First Family made us proud, each and every day.

    I’m thankful that PBO inspired a lovely red headed Irish woman to start The Obama Diary and that a lovely African American young woman has carried the mantle thus far.
